Dont buy from here. I purchased a car from here and had to have all of my fuel injectors replaced after around five years. Honda refused to replace them, which ended up costing me $2,500, even though they had sent out a service bulletin (TSB 19-038) for exactly the issue that I was having. When I tried contacting the dealership multiple times, I never received a call back. Last week I started receiving regular emails from this dealership about my car and when I sent a message back to unsubscribe, they called my cell phone asking which vehicle I was interested in purchasing. Honda of ILLINOIS a automotive dealer that wont cut a key blank (just cut not program) unless you purchase the blank and fob from them at 5 times the cost and that is just the blank. Claiming that 1 piece of metal bought online is different than the metal bought from Honda. This is the very reason why I leave Springfield IL to purchase cars and happily pay more for them versus buying from any of the dealer in town. read more

I went to Honda of Illinois with hopes of purchasing a minivan for my extended family (Mommy of Triplets). The first salesman I was greeted with was able to show me the exact vehicle I looked at which was the 2012 Dodge Caravan that I had been viewing online for weeks. When I viewed the vehicle I initially asked when I saw the back seats were slightly dirty if they detailed and cleaned the car before showing, and he said it was not able to be cleaned and in so many words as is... I did not really feel that was the case because it looked like stains that I could have easily removed myself didn't know if he just was more concerned about showing the vehicle. I thought that was a negative to the visit but overall he had to go and I ended up working with Chip (Richard) who was pleasant and took me for the test drive. Chip was my salesman for the remainder of the experience and went above and beyond to assist me. I caught a great deal with this purchase and what I most appreciated was his honesty. I didn't notice the radio didn't work and he caught that before the deal was over and made sure I got set up to have a new radio installed. I was very appreciative that they didn't let me pull off and not fix that. The car drives great and doesn't have any issues. I The reason I didn't give a 5 is because I would recommend that they detail, clean and properly inspect before showing but other than that I was so grateful of for the deal I brought Cupcakes to show my appreciation. Our last visit to Honda of Illinois was the most disrespect-filled experience I have had at Honda. We brought our vehicle in to our scheduled appointment to have a key reprogrammed. I also asked about getting the battery checked. They told me it would be a little over an hour. I came back an hour and 45 minutes later and the service representatives were not there. One of them came in from outside and spoke to another customer, then walked past me and sat down at the desk. He worked for a while, then got up and went and got another customer from the lobby. He brought him back, helped him, and then sat there again, ignoring me. About 10 minutes after he had first come back, another service representative finally came back and eventually talked to me. She told me they had not done anything with my vehicle yet. She went and got a tech to work on the vehicle. He worked on the vehicle for about half an hour, but half of that time was spent trying to figure out how to log into his computer system. He even had to get another tech to help him login. When the vehicle was done, the service person who had ignored me was the only person there. I asked if they had checked the battery (they never opened the hood) and he said yes and it tested good, but then he decided to actually go check with the tech. About five minutes later he came back and said yes again. I have no idea if they actually checked the battery. When he gave me my bill, they charged me for an hour of labor despite the fact only 15 minutes was spent actually working on the vehicle. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he told me she was out on lunch. I asked to speak with the person above her and he said he didn't know where that person was. He then told me I could "go up front and talk to whoever's up there." It was clear the gentleman had no intention of addressing my concerns, so I went to the sales desk and the gentleman there was very helpful, taking my name and number and promising to pass it on to the general manager. I never received a call back related to my complaints. I did however, the next day, receive the dealership's cursory "how was your visit" phone call. I described my negative experience, but once again never heard back regarding my complaints. Honda used to be better than this, but this experience left me feeling like they do not respect their customers enough to even acknowledge they exist, both while physically present waiting for assistance and again while hoping for a response to my complaints. read more

I purchased a vehicle here from them back in 2018 when I was 25 and my wife was 22. Young, first time vehicle buyers and looking back at it they completely took advantage of us and ripped us off. My experience with this dealership was a roller coaster ride. Live in Indianapolis but visit Springfield often, and our first experience was my partner buying a car here. Great salesman helped us through the process and got us a deal better than any we could find in Indy. When I needed a new car the next month, we came all the way from Indy to buy my car from him again. Again, great service from him. HOWEVER, the dealership itself is a mess. Never enough finance people so the wait times are excessive. They promised us a $100 check to my partner for referring me to their dealership (which we appreciated since we came all the way from out of state). When we followed up about this, they kept saying "we'll mail it to you..." and never did. A month later we called again and they said since the salesman no longer works there (thank goodness, he deserves better) that they wouldn't give us the referral bonus--which makes 0 sense since the check comes from the dealer, not the salesman. We tried calling again, and the service rep HUNG UP ON US. Worst customer service ever, and a scam to top it off. Would not recommend this dealer, you're better off going to the St. Louis area for deals. read more

Skip the dishonest Service Department at this dealership. Actually, just skip this dealership. The Service Manager needs to be trained in customer service. I took my car in for service and when I picked it up it had a big glob of some type of sticky goop on the driver's side door. I thought it was weird, but drove back to work. It was still on the next day and when I removed it, lo and behold, there was a scratch under the goop. When I took the car back the next day, the Service Manager basically called me a liar and said that it had been there and they weren't going to do anything about it. So, one of the grease monkeys scratched it, covered it up (literally and figurately) and they put the car out for me to pick up looking like that. They all knew it happened and returned it to me in that condition. A dishonest and skeevy bunch. read more

What a rough bunch of grease monkeys my god. One guy is using the F word in front of me. Another guy was told to do an oil change and of course the multi-point inspection. He rolled his eyes to the multi-point as if saying yeah right we never "really" do those. I used to believe that dealership service was more expensive but worth the extra money because you are paying for higher caliber mechanics. My recent visit to the Honda of Springfield service center proves that just because they are dealership mechanics doesn't mean they aren't smoking pot of their break or coming in hungover and halfassing the job. In fact it makes sense that a small auto shop owner would do a better job because he doesn't want to lose his business. Where as a dealership hourly service mechanic doesn't care if he is fired, he'll just go find another job. read more

I went here last year while looking for a new car. The sales person that helped me was somewhat friendly but they really tried to rip me off. They tried to charge me $4000 more dollars for the same car I went to Chicago and bought. I would definitely do some research online or at other Honda dealerships before purchasing a car here. Outstanding Dealership who kept thier word despite misquoting me a price. I dealt with an internt salesman (Paul) regarding the purchase of a 2014 Honda Odyssey EX-L. He quoted me a price of $31,993 for this model. Upon arriving at the dealership, he realized he had made a mistake and quoted me the price of a 2013 model. However, the dealership stood behind it's offer and made the deal at the exact quoted price. It is never fun spending that amount of money, but this business made it a pleasurable expiereince. read more

My second and last visit to this establishment. I was not impressed at all, I was looking for a CIVIC SI, had actually walked out of a deal with CARMAX for the same vehicle but CARMAX was asking approximately what I could get a new vehicle (same make and model). They had previously told me that the specific vehicle was hard to find, but they would ask around for a possible trade. I checked back with them and the internet sales person told me to come in and go over the "numbers" with him and he could most definitely get the one I wanted if I just came in. So got my granddaughter ready and made a specific trip up there to meet this guy, got out and was escorted to the sales manager for him to tell me they still could not get the vehicle and he had no idea why the sales guy told me to come in! I don't believe they ever had the idea to get that specific automobile, they just wanted me to come in so they could have another chance of changing my mind for a vehicle on their lot!!!!! I purchased a 2015 Honda Accord LX from Honda of Illinois. The sales team were extremely helpful and there was no pressure at all. Maybe the sales associate who sold me the car explained to me that the Accord now has a new transmission, the CVT. However, if he did I do not recall that conversation. The first time I heard about CVT transmission was during my first oil change at Dobbs when my Accord had 3100 miles on it. This was in May of 2015 and the service manager at Dobbs informed me that I needed to make sure that my transmission fluid is regularly checked and changed as CVT transmissions, at least the ones he has seen, break down easily. I was immediately concerned as I obviously dropped the ball and did not do my homework on the Accords prior to purchasing this one. If I had done the proper research, there is no way I would have purchased a Honda with a CVT transmission. With that said, on September 8th while on the highway driving to Bloomington my Honda simply stopped accelerating. I was going about 75 miles per hour and this could have been extremely serious had there been traffic on the highway. I pulled over to the side of the highway and turned the car off. The car started up smoothly but would not drive or go into reverse. I was only about 25 miles from Springfield so I had it towed to Honda of Illinois where I had purchased the vehicle. At the time that the transmission went out the car had 129,000 miles on it, so yes I do plenty of driving. However I have owned two Honda's in the past, a 2002 Accord which I got 389,000 miles on until I gave it to my brother. And a 2004 CRV which I still own and has 250,000 miles on it and it still drives fine. I did not have any transmission issues with either of these vehicles. A member of the service department called me and stated that my transmission went out. He also stated that to replace it would cost me $10,000. Needless to say I was blown away and full of different emotions. I definitely was not going to pay $10,000 as the car is not even paid off (I have another year left). I told the service department that I definitely was not going to pay that and he stated that he understood. I emailed the manager of the dealership, Billy Lynch on 09/12/18 and professionally expressed my frustration and anger with the CVT transmission. I left my phone number and to date Mr. Bill Lynch has never responded to my email or called me regarding the matter. I had the Accord towed to a transmission shop back in my hometown and I was charged $4,000 for a factory remanufactured CVT transmission. With all of that said, I will never purchase another Honda, specifically one that has a CVT transmission in it. And I definitely will not be dealing with Honda of Illinois again. If the sales manager Bill Lynch cant even respond to my concerns then he obviously does not want any future business from me. So I would say Buyer Beware regarding CVT transmissions! They are cheaper to manufacture and are known to have issues and I am sure the Honda sales team will not inform you of this. R. Carr read more

Unfortunately, this dealership is not even worth a single star the way we were treated. This was our personal experience....Firstly, I have scheduled an appointment with receptionist the same day of my visit. As per her recommendation (schedule preference), I had to leave work little early and drive an hour to reach this dealership as per the appointment provided which, was 2 hours before closing time. Had to request my wife as well to leave work early to join me at the dealership. We were on time and the receptionist requested us to sit in the lobby and someone will join us. Had to wait for more than 30mins before I inquire about my scheduled appointment time at reception. No one in the sales dept or Manager (I believe his name is Mason) didn't care to ask what are we waiting for. I saw that there were only 2 other customers in the showroom since the moment we arrived in the store. Finally, Manager walked to us and asked about what are we looking for. I told about my appointment and the car I was interested in. Then he mentioned to a sales personal who was just hanging out in front of us for almost 20mins to show us the car model that we are interested in. But, then Manager went close to this sales personal and spoke to him, and from their body language I immediately felt something is not right. Manager left from there and this sales gentleman walked to me and said that we have locked all our cars for the rest of the day so, he can show us cars only from outside. With more than hour and half left to closer time, I was little shocked to hear from him something like that. I didn't even bothered to stay any more there and walked out without any further discussion. I thought that if this Mgmt is treating a new customer this worst; I was very convinced that their service might be terrible even if I buy a car from them. I was definitely felt discriminated as I was not one of their usual faces they used see in their store I guess! Visited several time for test drive of CRV. After several calls, we agreed on a price. The document fee was waved (it would show up on the paperwork, but I would not be charged) 1 hour Prior to going to purchase the car I went over the -- out the door price --with the sales rep. Came into the dealership to purchase the car, and they started playing the numbers game. There was a $210 fee for mud flaps that they install on all cars (you can buy them for well under $100). Then they started playing with the numbers, saying they never agreed to wave the document fees. Bottom line is there was an extra $179 fee. I guess they figured no one walk out over a $179. but they where wrong. read more

Wish i could give zero stars. Worst service department I've ever visited. They have never gotten my services correct. Last week i made an appt for oil change. When i got there they told me my air bag was recalled. I said fine. An hour later they said airbag was done. They didnt do oil change. After blamimg me for their oversight, they told me i would have to get in line and wait another hou. i said id just leave and come back another day. He was very rude, yelling, and called me B..... in front of customers. My family has 4 Hondas and we get wonderful service now at Midas on Stevenson. read more

I was looking for a particular model of car and re several in my area (Saint Louis) ended without being able to settle on a price (and more than a few rounds of used car dealer frustrations). I wasn't thrilled about driving 2 hours to look at something and go through the same, but Gene at Honda of Illinois was extremely friendly and reasonable over the phone, and we quickly came to a fair price. There were no surprises when I showed up, everything went smoothly, and I love my car. All told, it was easier to work with these guys, 2 hours away, then deal with the crap I got at the local lots. I assisted my friend in car shopping. She was undecided between a Toyota Rav 4 and a Honda CRV. Models are so similar. She went to the Toyota dealership and asked a salesman to test drive one and she was told she could when she decided for sure what she wanted. Really???? She than proceeded to Honda of Illinois and was greeted courteously by a salesman, who was patient in answering all her questions and then some and suggested she test drive one. She didn't have to ask! What a difference between the two dealerships, of course she bought the Honda CRV! read more

Update: I bought a new 2016 Civic in Decatur, and was happy to go to Honda Service to address a minor issue with the front bumper after I'd had it a couple months and it was time for an oil change. They've changed hands and are even worse than the sales side. I was charged for an oil change that was to be free for a year. The clerk wanted to argue, and the service manager stepped in to also blame me for not mentioning it (I did, but I didn't belabor it). It's an "any dealership in the first year" universal Honda thing, and the car had existed for under a year, so I didn't feel remiss. In that chaos, we forgot to check the bumper until we got home. It hadn't been repaired, but it was significantly gauged, like someone attempted to pry it off with nothing between the tool and paint. We called, they acknowledged they'd damaged it and offered to fix, but they tried to sneak damaging a new car by us. I went elsewhere for the repair. As a result, I do not trust Honda of Illinois to do work on my car without causing additional damage. Fortunately, Decatur isn't far, so I never have to do business with them again. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this dealership sales and finance. I found a truck online and immediately launched into let's get this done mode. And that's exactly what happened. I was able to fly in, the has the paper work ready and the truck ready for me so the whole process to get out the door took less than thirty minutes. Great at answering my questions, very friendly. While traveling from Madison WI on a hot summer day the fan on our 2007 Honda Civic wasn't blowing much air out the vents. What little air we were getting was cold so we figured it was the blower doors, not the AC unit. Google maps found us this dealership so we popped into the service center unannounced. The service advisor and mechanic took time out of their busy Saturday schedule to dig into the dash, got the air blowing & gave us some tips on how to deal with it if it happens again. Great business with honest sales staff and consistently good service. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is that they do not participate in the Tru Car buying service offered by various groups like Consumer Reports and Sam's Club. However, when I bought my Ridgeline truck, I presented them the Tru Car offer made by a dealer in a nearby city and they chose to give me the same deal as opposed to letting the sale go. We found a certified used honda accord on car guru. The dealership (Janelle) was quick to respond to our inquiry. We were pre approved from our local bank. Went on a Wednesday evening around 530 to drive the car and liked it. Decided to work out a deal. They under bid our trade by a minimum of $2,000. They refused to lower the car price. Finally they decided they could "un-certify" the car to lower the price. Todd was convinced he could get our payments where we wanted them by financing it through them. We left with the car and signed paperwork Wednesday at 8. We were moving stuff from our old car to our new in a dark parking lot with no assistance. Todd told us if there were any issues we would hear from him on Friday. Flash to Tuesday. Get a call that we need to put $1000 down because they can't get the financing done. We said no we'd go to our own bank when we got off work. They contacted our bank for us. Called us before we made it to the bank. Our lending officer wouldn't loan the amount They were asking for. We spoke to her and it was true The loan was too much for that car. She told us she would do it but it wasn't a good deal and she thought we should ask for more for our trade. Todd called us back again, they had a great deal from a credit union in Decatur. Only $500 down but we would have to buy this bumper to bumper 36,000 mile warranty or they couldn't do it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Is this 1985? I asked for clarification if I was hearing him correctly. He said it was as good as the deal was going to get. He said if we didn't like it then we should bring the car back. I said ok. And that's what we did. You lost a sale Susan's Honda AKA Honda of Illinois by being shady and greedy. We drove to Morton Illinois and bought a Honda Accord EX. 8, 000 more miles for $1500 less dollars and they gave us $2500 more for our trade in. The car is a different color and it wasn't a Honda dealership just to be fair. Oh, and the car wasn't certified, but neither was yours in the end. I have both sales agreements. The experiences were night and day different. The best part is we have 2 more cars to purchase over the next 2 years. I'll drive an hour to Morton. I won't even look on this lot. read more

This dealership had a car I thought might be an excellent match for everything I wanted but I was not permitted to drive it to find out if I liked how it handled. It was a manual transmission, which I enjoy. It was my favorite color of white. My tall fiance fit into it comfortably. It was four doors, which helps us slightly older folks get in and out. I've had my share of practical cars in my 51 years but this Civic Si had both practical aspects and aspects that are fun.... maybe. I can't tell you if it was fun to drive because, like I said, I was not permitted to drive it. They wanted to know if I would BUY the car THAT DAY if I drove it!! Good grief. Nobody in their right mind would commit to buying a car without knowing if it truly handled the way they wanted it to. They were more interested in putting this car in the showroom to be viewed by others than selling it to someone who was interested, and who is old enough and financially secure enough to afford it. Of course, the finance manager never got into looking into my financial worthiness because the sales manager was too busy sending his poor salesman out to deny test drives of the pretty new car. Well, I'm very capable of going somewhere where they care more about developing a good relationship with customers, not sending them away frustrated and disappointed. read more

Went for an oil change recently and the multi-point inspection was done saying all checked out. Funny thing is my inside light has not worked since I purchased my car and it said it was fine. I called Charlie ( I think) and told him it was quite strange that all checked out fine, knowing that my inside light never worked. He made excuses and said maybe because it was daylight and the mechanic thought it was on. He then went on to say he didn't know what to say. Obviously, the multi-point inspections are just getting checked off without checking those things out. BAD BUSINESS HONDA!!! read more

Well enjoyed the car and put miles on it, came back in to get oil change and they said where's your paper for it? Oh that salesman doesn't work here anymore.....I was treated like scum, went to service manager and he said without paper can't help you. WTF, couple months ago I bought car from you monkeys? Your going to loose customer over an oil change? They didn't seem to care so off I leave without ever coming back. Will be spreading word to shop for honda but buy in St Louis. read more
