I had an eight year old Honda Pilot that unfortunately needed a new transmission. I foolishly decided to have it repaired/replaced at Honda of Slidell. I should have listened to my gut feelings and went to an independent transmission shop. I received an estimate from the sales service associate for the transmission replacement with a very high markup. The final price was significantly higher than the estimate, since it is already overly inflated. Honda of Slidell added freight charge (this isn't included in the price) and other hidden fees which she, Misty, sales service associate, could not explain. It was the typical "Bait and Switch" tactics there dealers utilize. On tip of that, my car is mousing the windshield fuel panel and multiple clips when the transmission was replaced. Lesson learned! I would only recommend taking a Honda to a dealer if it is still under warranty. American Honda considers my car old, so they and Honda of Slidell was not going to assist me for their faulty products. I have five Honda's, with four purchased new. This place is absolutely horrible. Out of $2000 because of inexperienced service personnel. Knowing and sharing with service the transmission was a problem, however, a service desk personnel diagnosed the car without equipment, and according to her, it was from her personal experience. Well needless to say wasn't experienced enough. Being told that transmission mounts were the problem when you know the transmission is the problem is absurd and unprofessional. Transmission mounts were replaced at a cost of $2000 unnecessarily, the transmission was still a concern. After speaking with the service manager, he suggested the transmission be changed with a used transmission of 200,000 miles on it at a cost of $4000. Are YOU kidding me? DON'T BRING YOUR CAR, HERE FOR SERVICE; RUN!!! This business doesn't deserve any stars. One star is absolutely too much. This place was my fave before staff changes were made. I came to your Honda service sept at Honda of Slidell for a brake service to be completed on my 2012 Honda Fit. I scheduled on the Honda of Slidell.com the service special offered "$99.99 brake special front or rear". After sitting at the service dept for an hour the service advisor comes to find me to tell me that they can't honor the price because I didn't have a physical coupon. But when I scheduled online it showed that it was "applied" after scheduling. I spend thousands with this service center each year. You are more than welcome to check with them on that. I just feel it is ridiculous and unfair to advertise that and then pull a "bait and switch" trying to get me to pay more. The service advisors I am dealt with are David and Jenny. This place is a class act! I have purchased vehicles from many dealerships over the years, but this is the only one I'll work with in the future. My first contact was at 2am- through their easy to use website. I located the exact car I wanted and requested more information. At 7:45am Candice sent a polite email offering her assistance. She offered a fair price, but was patient while I requested bids from every other Honda dealership in the area. She was the only internet dealer I contacted that was kind enough to talk through text and email - every other dealership annoyingly flooded my voicemail. Even before negotiations, her price was extremely fair. It took several calls to get anyone else close to her initial offer. An added bonus was that this was the only dealership in 3 states to have the color I wanted! My decision was made- I was crossing the twin-span! She scheduled a meeting with me at my convenience. I was not expecting the VIP treatment, but I surely got it! As soon as I walked in the door it was as if the red carpet had been rolled to my feet. My personal vehicle consultant, Mike, was warm and helpful. He had prepared my vehicle for a test drive ahead of time and walked me through all of the highlights. He has only been working in the industry for a few months, but he was extremely knowledgeable. There is no doubt that his warm and patient attitude stems from his many years as a caring nurse. When we returned Mike showed me around the facility, introducing me to personnel in various departments. I even have the Service manager's business card for when I am ready for my free oil change! Such a nice touch- I may just have to drive across the lake to get my routine maintenance done by these guys. The Sales Manager, Jeff Spangler, helped us finalize the deal. He too was friendly and helpful. I never once felt pressured and we chatted like old friends while waiting for the finance manager. When it came time to sign the papers I was completely at ease. We walked through the different packages available. This included several combinations of gap, extended warranty, tire and rim protection, prepaid maintenance, etc... It was easy to read and showed how each package would impact your total monthly payment. My brain works better with total cost, so he happily wrote out the price of each item separately. I created my own package and signed and signed and signed! You'd think they would have had enough of me, but they didn't show it! They quickly walked me through their free customer benefit package that includes everything from maintenance coupons, to roadside assistance, and even a free vacation package. Such a nice touch! Mike had my new car washed and ready to go, but he did not try to hand me off to start another deal. Instead he helped me set up my Bluetooth and update ALL of my settings. My mom and I were on the way to New Orleans from Tallahassee when we realized something was wrong with her gas gauge (possibly her gas tank). PLEASE do yourself a favor and don't buy a car nor service your car here, they'll put your safety at risk. For sometime now, my car suddenly started making noise when going over bumps and turning. Also, alot of vibrations on the road. I brought it to two different Honda dealers FOUR times! They're experiencing the problem themselves, but can't find the problem. I even contacted Honda corporate and they said that they need an diagnosis, I GET IT INSPECTED FOUR TIMES! I never thought Honda would be so unreasonable. Today I brought my car to an independent mechanic and they confirmed that strut mount is the problem which over time can separate from the frame and lead me into a crash. Very frustrating experience to drive all the way to the dealership only to be told that the recall parts (for which you have received 2 letters in the mail) are unavailable. I am the type of person that speed walks past the kiosks in the mall because I don't like pushy sales, so going to car dealerships is kind of an anxiety-driven task for me. I had visited Honda of Slidell twice; the first time was to look at older Honda CR-Vs and the second time to sell Rhonda the Honda. The first time, I made an appointment online and met with one of their sales guys. He was very kind and the test drive was fine, I just didn't love the model of the year I was looking at though it was the year I was in the market for. I didn't receive a copious amount of phone calls following my visit, and I appreciate that the sales guy I had worked with didn't push it with me. As luck would have it, I was able to buy a Honda CR-V from a family member, and needed to get rid of Rhonda the Honda. I had put an Instant Cash Offer request in online and a couple of dealerships popped up for me to have the car inspected with Honda of Slidell being one of them. I was contacted by someone from this location asking if I'd like to set up an appointment and I had one on the books days after I made the request... Now let me tell you a little about Rhonda the Honda, a 2007 Honda Civic that had seen better days. She was in pretty bad shape. I really don't even know how we got it to this location without her kicking the bucket. While I had high hopes of getting a certain amount, I knew in my heart that she wasn't worth much anymore. That being said, John Roberts whom I worked with this time around, still put her through the maintenance check and came to me with the laundry list of issues my ol' Rhonda had, and why it wouldn't be the value I had had in mind. I still felt the need to negotiate a little and he acquiesces, taking my request back to his boss. With a clear explanation, he found a middle ground and we shook on it. To be honest, it's that feeling when you sell your textbooks at the end of the year, and are kind of sad, but also kind of happy to be rid of them. The process was quick, and the check came in no time. John Roberts was very kind, knowledgeable, and not in the least bit "car salesman-y" to me. I had had a guy friend there to help me get a ride back and at no point did John direct the conversation to him which I know is sometimes an issue women have on car lots. We had a 2008 Pontiac Solstice listed online forever and got to the point where we needed it sold. My husband clicked the button to get 3 cash offers from local dealers and away we went. Next day he had 2 calls from a wholesale place on Vets and another from Honda of Slidell. He set up an appointment in Slidell and hit the place on Vets first. They kind of gave him the runaround, eventually saying if he went to Slidell then they'd beat their offer (which online was $6k). Got to Slidell and they put the car through the ringer, the mechanic gave it a thorough going over. They said it'd be 30 minutes but it was a bit longer than that. He did mention that they never abandoned him and would check back in with him often. They presented us with a breakdown of the cost analysis, KBB estimates, and citing a couple of issues that we were already aware of, and offered us $300 less than what the Internet offer estimate was. He called the place on Vets who said "we can't beat that." SOLD to Honda of Slidell!! The biggest thing was that we were there to SELL a car, and they treated us like we were buying one. Even when I went up today to pick up the check, they were incredibly helpful and kind. No bait and switch, no tricks, and we're not having to deal with scam artists through AutoTrader. I called the service department at 6 and discovered they closed without calling me to give me any information about my car. If your new car needs an expensive repair, which your bumper-to-bumper warranty should cover, the service staff tells you statements such as, "We cannot duplicate your complaint." These statements free them from the need to repair your brand-new car. Then, the dealership staff, Group 1 Automotive (owner), and Honda, USA (in my case), work to talk you into a trade or a costly insurance claim or string you along until your warranty runs out. Or they talk you into buying an additional warranty that only offers you the same type of answer of non-duplication. By the time your warranty runs out, the costly not fixed repair is massive and usually a situation only the manufacturer can repair. You know what that means. Either you decide to pay for a trade-in, or you fall into the trap of only the dealership being able to handle the repair they knew was needed. Either way, because the dealership refused to honor your warranty, you are charged by them possibly thousands to make up for them not being able to duplicate your concerns. Or, as I have learned, repair your vehicle the right way the first time. I read about a woman whose tire light would not go out until she bought a new tire because the dealership sold her the wrong size tire. Or another possible SCAM is to give you unpleasant surprises. After you have your car a while, you learn that your payments are possibly much higher than you expected, or you do not have the vehicle that you thought you bought. One of Group 1 Automotive dealerships took advantage of a Vietnam Veteran with an increase of payments possible contract SCAM after he had eye surgery. The moral to that story, make sure you can read your contract before leaving the dealership because you need to ensure that you signed exactly as you bargained. My signed contract from Honda of Slidell informed me that I had bought 2020 when I bargained for a 2021. It was not until I convinced Honda of Slidell management that I was willing to inform the public of their mistake that I was awarded a 2021. Or what I thought was a working 2021. A Group 1 Automotive staff member pleasantly informed me that it was my responsibility to check the VIN number of my car before purchasing it from a Group 1 Automotive-owned dealership because they often miss representing the years of the cars that they sell. This was one of the first things that she said to me during our introductory phone conversation, "You better check your VIN number because you may not have the year car that you think you have." Honda of Slidell has helped that reputation for Group 1 Automotive with questionable sales of a stolen car here and there. When I approached the staff at Group 1 Automotive for assistance because I have a brand-new car with a failing computer and transmission, I was told, "My bosses don't allow direct contact with the public because they don't care about you. They couldn't care less about one unhappy customer because they have hundreds of stores with millions of customers." Think about what they are profiting if they SCAM one customer in each one of those stores. The SCAMS that I am suggesting that Group 1 Automotive and the dealerships that they own are involved in effect quite a few customers per day in each of their stores. Please do not disagree with any of the staff at Pat Peck Honda, Honda of Slidell, or any of the dealerships owned by Group 1 Automotive because you could become physically threatened. At Pat Peck Honda, the service staff has been known to sexually harass their customers. At Honda of Slidell, the service staff is known to get in your car with you and harass you. I had to threaten to call the police before the Honda of Slidell male employee departed from my car. Please, allow me to offer this review as a warning that if you become involved in one of these possible SCAMS, you could be left paying for a trash vehicle. Love Honda in general, but live Honda of Slidell. My wife loves this place and even though she visited everyplace in a multi-state area this is the preferred location. We never were big foreign car buyers, but Don Bohn Ford permanently scarred us from risking the 2nd most important investment that most of us have. We had an American auto and it's demise was almost immediate, thanks to the dealer. With Honda, we had a foreign vehicle that had a breakdown shortly after Hurricane Katrina. It turns out that we had a freak repair. (That's when something so unrealistic happens to create damage). In our case it was a ball bearing that became dislodged. The A/C pulley was a bit off and scraped on the inside-placing metal shavings in the ventilation system. It was a tough diagnosis, as this never happens to a Honda. So basically the A/C needed replacement. Every single hose, gasket, metal tubing, and compressor needed replacement. It was about $2-3000 of work needed. But, it was a month out of warranty. The Honda dealer in cypress, tx took care of it. Honda said it was a gift they were able to make possible by shuffling paperwork, but we know what had to be done. We are eternally grateful to Honda and will drive the brand forever. Honda of Slidell caries on this extensive service. Making accurate service suggestions and accommodating any type of requests. I've been there a few times and they have a niché market- WOMEN! I'm not sure if it's the chocolate chip cookies , the Starbucks coffee , bottled water fridge, or iPhone charging station. Not to mention to ensure I had the best experience he sent a service technician to my location which was in Harvey, LA approximately 45 miles away. We have been on he hunt to purchase a new vehicle for my mom and the CRV fit the bill for what we wanted and has excellent reviews. So she goes to this Honda dealership, finds a used one at what I felt was a good price. She returns during normal business hours, then with the car already chosen waits hours after she already gave her info to purchase. During that time they lie about the price and say it's actually 1k more than what the sticker says, so they "discount" the car down to $200 HIGHER than the sticker price.... fine whatever let us just get the car... She wanted to drive away that day, but no after a longer wait she had to go to work that afternoon and couldn't spend 7+ hours waiting for who knows what. She tells them call her back when they are ready to sign it over. They called back today and hiked the price up again. So I called the "finance manager" Author and he tells me about how the cheapest they would do is $200 over the advertised price plus temp tag and registration, notarized fees ect to bring the price up to $500 more than the sticker price. I tried to explain I don't need a temp tag I will get a real one from my state today and pay cash in full for the car but he wouldn't budge. So I called back to speak with the GM and they won't tell me the GM's name or when he gets onsite all I can do is be transferred to his voicemail. I asked when is he normally onsite and get the reply whenever he wants he's the GM and doesn't have hours he might not be in today or tomorrow at all.... but I can be transfer to leave a message.... very very shady... so I believe I will have to pass up this CRV and look at the other dealerships or just a totally different Honda dealership that's honest and holds true to the Honda brand.... read more

I had to give one star otherwise it would be zero. First off we love Honda and out last 5 cars we bought were all Honda. We live in Slidell so we would like to do business here. Few years back I bought a ridge line and an accord . They could not get close to the price we were quoted in New Orleans. Told us then go buy from them so we did. Last month my daughter wants a new civic I say I will go back to Slidell see if they want to sell me something this time. Again could not come close in price so we drove across lake bought brand new civic. I decide I want to trade my 2019 ridge line in for new one. I go back to Slidell Honda tell them this is your last chance to do business with me told them about my last two visits. First of all they got $4000 off hanging on truck i want. We do the paperwork they got $3500 off I ask why you don't give me $4000 like you have for everybody. Then they try to give me $4000 less than I just got quoted on for my trade. Then they act like the tax credit I was getting was a part of the deal. When I got insulted and ready to walk out the sales manager in the back came walking out very cocky looking and snatched the paper off the desk and said you can leave! I been around car dealers my whole life her job is to save the deal not run them up the street. I was a buyer and I did drive to Honda of Covington and got a better truck w less miles for a better deal. I will never give them another opportunity to earn my business. Do not buy a car from here! I bought a car from here and I've had to go more than 5 times already to get repairs and it hasn't even been 10 months. The sales people are super nice, and why wouldn't they be? If you sell things that'll break in the first 3 months. The bumper to bumper warranty is bs, they explain it so fast you don't have time to read before you sign, so just so you know, it only covers things that the car has mechanically wrong. The service part: You're gladly taken in at any time, the wait is always anywhere from 45 minutes to a lifetime. I usually don't bring my car into a shop and expect it to be quick, but I do like updates. The first time I got taken care of was by Stacy (which was super nice but not longer works there, and I don't blame her). She made sure my warranty paid for the service and everything. While I was there patiently waiting for my car, I overheard Stacy ask this other girl Kristen for an update. Kristen or Kirsten, whatever her name is, was so rude and started yelling at her. Poor Stacy came back shaking to tell me the update on the car. Anyway, I had to go back to the shop a different day because again something was wrong, hoping Stacy would take her of me, but it was this other girl Kristen ugh! Of course they gave me an estimate of 1300. So I took it to another mechanic, and they gave me an estimate of $0 because there was nothing wrong with it. Lesson learned: do not trust this place for service or cars they sell you. They will rip you off. The 4 people that had the job right at this place were: Natasha, Stacy, Loquita, and the guy that gave me a ride to the car rental which I can't remember his name. But they've all quit. Why? Probably because of Kristen. Ps. The guy that brought me to the car rental and I talked about how miserable this Kirsten girl must be, if she doesn't like her job, she should quit. read more

I have had 2 bad experiences with Honda of Slidell. My wife and I purchased a used 2013 Honda Accord EX with 52,000 miles for $21,000 in 2016, approximately 2 yrs later we received in the mail an offer for them to buy the car. I called the person on the card after going on their website to search for a later model Accord EX to trade up. We found a 2015 for a good fair price and I made an appointment with the sales staff. We arrived 10 minutes ahead of our scheduled time slot. We test drove the car and started negotiations with the sales guy...we were told we could get the car and keep our monthly payment close to what we were currently paying... 3-1/4 hours later we received their offer of $10,000 for a trade in for my 2013 EX with 71,600 miles, a little under 20,000 miles added in less than 24 months! The car has no dents and not one scratch was put on that was not there when we bought it in fact we put new tires on it and they offered me $11,000 less that what I paid with the explanation of "well you know they depreciate as soon as you drive them off our lot". Needless to say we walked out without making a purchase. Strike one Fast forward 3 months we took the same car in to get a wheel repaired because we had a "we owe" from the sales manager when we bought the car to repair a scratched wheel...yesterday after keeping the car overnight to take the wheel to a 3rd party for repair they called me and said the sales manager refuses to honor their "we owe" because of the amount of time that passed. A minor contractual $75 fix that they refuse to honor. I asked them to get the car ready for me to pick up when I get off work, I went in and told the Service guy Frankie that I will never come back.... he apologized and said he tried to get the Sales Manager to honor the fix but he wouldn't.
