I work not far from here and decided to take my car here for service. The staff here are great technicians of a vehicle, but what makes the experience different is the service. All of the staff are friendly, make an effort to greet you and take as much time as needed to explain the repairs and service recommendations. They are not high pressure and I really like that they use text and email to communicate (which pictures) the condition of the car and the repairs. Overall I found the pricing to be fair, not the cheapest and not the moat expensive. The parts were high quality and I love that they have free loaner cars. If you need service or repairs, these guys should be a top choice. read more

I spent $2500 getting the radiator and hoses replaced. When I got it home I could smell antifreeze, but didn't think much of it. A few days later it was still smelling of antifreeze so I investigated. There was a leak from the heater hose that Honest Wrench's didn't catch before I picked up the vehicle. I confronted them and said if the technician had taken it for a test drive after the service he certainly would've discovered the leak. Of course I got some B.S. that they always check it. Clearly they didn't finish the job. Also, they are waaay over priced. I called another service after the fact and found Dis-Honest Wrenches was overcharging by $600. I say smart, because it's smart enough to know not to act up for the mechanics. Can't fix with it's unwillingness to act up. I did take the truck back in to get it diagnosed. I work very to keep my content happy, helpful, and providing inspiration for those that struggle with mental health. Tonight it's going to be a bit different.... You mess with my children, and you get my "razor tongue" as my mama called it. Our daughter recently had some vehicle issues and took it to Honest Wrenches Automotive Repair for repair. They completely took advantage of a young woman and charged her over $4000 for the repairs. When my husband found out what she had paid, he asked her to send him the receipt and he was LIVID at the over charging. He's had several mechanics look at the invoice as well and all agree that she was taken advantage of. Todd has had several conversations with Honest Wrenches Automotive Repair to try to get her some money back, or at least find a break down of costs, parts, and labor. He was refused this information and found no resolution from the company. He then went to the BBB site and filed a complaint HOPING the company would respond and resolve the issue so he could remove the complaint. They did not respond. "Honest" is hardly a term I would use to describe this company and feel it's actually false advertising considering the how they have completely taken advantage of our daughter Shame on you. If you were not doing anything wrong, why not comply and send the information my husband asked for! Now her vehicle is acting up and you will be paying for those repairs if it is a direct result of your shady work. No, you will not be able to review anything prior to receiving the bill. Took my car in for an oil change. After the oil change and inspection I was told my car needed several updates done. They explained what they wanted to do but only gave estimate on oil change. The oil change was reasonable if not a little on high side. But, charging over $100 for a bulb change? $150 for cabin filter? $160 for fasteners?? total bill was over $2500! I didnt ask for an estimate on the total, my fault...but Dishonest Wrenches is a more appropriate name for this company read more

Don't rely on their loaner vehicles or courtesy shuttle. They gave me a loaner car with 191000 miles on it. It leaked oil all over my driveway. The headlights turned off when you used the turn signal and the tail lights only worked when you put your foot on the brake. You couldn't see out the back window because the ceiling fabric was hanging down blocking the view. There is a long list. I guess I should of known something was up when they gave me instruction and a phone number to call if I broke down. After having it 48hrs and driving it twice I decided to drop it off because it was to dangerous too drive. I called the number twice they gave me in case I had troubles and they could get me another loaner and nobody answered. I left voicemails, no one returned them. They got my car done the same time my daughter had a procedure. I asked if they could drop the car off, they couldn't because I had to sign papers. I went up and signed the papers with my daughter asleep in the back of her car after the procedure and now I am left to find someone to take me up to get my car that is sitting in their drive after spending $1700 to get it fixed. Can't really speak to if they fixed the car because I haven't been able to get it home or drive it. read more

Took my car in for air-conditioning repair. Had to take it there five times before they could find a leak. They finally found The evaporator coil had a small leak. Average cost on a 2018 impala is between 1600 and $1900. They tried to charge me $4200. I am a retired veteran living on Social Security, and this would've broke me completely. Took my vehicle in to get the backup camera fixed. They had it a long while and I called to ask what was going on. They said they had someone working on it for several hours but couldn't figure out what was wrong. The bill was already $495! I had also asked them to change the oil etc. I told them to stop because a $450 bill was ridiculous. I would be up to pick it up. When I went to pick it up, I paid the bill with an unfixed backup camera. But they did NOT even do the oil change. Literally $495 and I had to go then to Walmart to get my oil changed and gave up on the backup camera being fixed. Rip Off! read more

ZERO STARS!! WARNING! LONG POST! To start, "Honest" Wrenches charged me $130 to tow my vehicle from my home to their shop by a third party. No big deal, until I realized they were charging at least $35 more than other companies. I know, because I called around when I had my vehicle towed from their shop back to my home. One place was $95, and I ended up paying $85 for the exact same tow. Honest Wrenches skimmed right off the top knowing that their third party has to have a rate similar to the other companies I called. This is where my real complaint starts, as the previous comments were an after the fact realization. When they asked what was going on, I told them I was sure that the PCM (computer) on my truck had gone bad. I also know that there are three 28 pin plugs that lead to and from various electronic parts to my vehicle that all needed to be tested. This is a process to ensure it was in fact the PCM and not a random sensor, bad wire, or one of many other possibilities. Initially, Honest Wrenches quoted about $360 for the tow and diagnostics, I said OK. Then they called back to tell me it was going to take a little while longer, but that they were on the right track, and they would have it figured out the next day. I said OK. They did call back saying it was, guess what, the PCM! At this point I owed nearly $400 plus $130 for the tow. All so Honest Wrenches could tell me it was in fact the PCM as I had told them. It actually says on the receipt that the customer says it is the PCM! Here is the kicker. Honest Wrenches wanted an additional $1500 to fix the PCM. They also performed a multi-point inspection and came up with a multitude of things to fix on my truck for a grand total of $5000. Did I mention that the vehicle is a 2002 Dodge Dakota that is 20 years old? Why in the world would any mechanic tell you they could fix up your car for well more than the value? Especially a place called "Honest" Wrenches. My truck on a trade in is worth $1500. On a private sale, $4500 tops. Because of all of this I showed up, unannounced, to tow my vehicle back home. When I showed up, I asked why it could possibly cost so much to fix, when all you need is a PCM programmed to my VIN. The rep said, "I have a background in Chrysler", and that that indeed it needed programed to a module blah blah car talk car talk. I told him he was full of it and that I spoke to another shop who explained why my vehicle did not need programming, (no security SKIM). I also explained I could order one online for under $300, already programmed to my vehicle. Again, the rep said "Nope", it needed programmed. Back to where my story started, me towing my own vehicle from the 58th St. Honest Wrenches to my home. I showed up with Ankeny Towing unannounced because I had lost all trust in "Honest" Wrenches. In fact, today, I received my online ordered rebuilt PCM and replaced the old one. The truck started right up and runs with no problems. These folks were going to charge me $2150 for a $269 fix. Not including asking me to pay $5000 to fix both the PCM and all the 20-year-old vehicle's ageing issues, I felt bad paying them $624 and just knowing all the people they take advantage of who may not have the knowledge or time.
