They might be a good place, but they were really not satisfying for me and I don't anticipate to be walking in there again. I like my tea and my bubble teas with milk. They offer 2 categories: Milk based and clear teas. My favorite fruit is passion fruit, which is in the clear tea category and I asked, if they can add milk to it. (A place in Hapeville has no problem preparing my bubble tea that way). The guy at the register told me 'yes'. Their normal advertised price is $ 6.50. I was charged a base price of $ 7.00, so I assume they added $ 0.50 for the milk. Ok, that's fine. I waited another 10 minutes (after about waiting 15 minutes to get to the ordering stage) and the woman preparing it told me that they couldn't do it. I said 'but all I'm asking is that you add a little milk to it'. Nope, she would not budge. Then I asked for a refund, gave my card and she tried to hand me $ 7.00 cash. I refused and said that I also added 20% tip and paid tax. If I had to wait all of this time for nothing I'd want every penny back. She was getting even more annoyed with me and I had to wait some more until she finally returned everything to my card. Bubble tea was invested in the 1980s in Taiwan, so, it's not as if I'm breaking some 200 year tradition. Also, milk is not an unusual ingredient. It's something they add all day long to different drinks and they have it on hand. It's a liquid, so, it's not as if some ingredient won't mix with it. All they needed to do is mix their clear passion fruit tea, brew it and leave a little space to add milk. It's a cold drink and milk is cold, so, it has no effect on the temperature. This makes absolutely no sense to me and the only reason I can imagine is that the woman was on some power trip and enjoyed turning me down, because I didn't stay exactly in the box that they set. But it's such a trivial request and they agreed and did charge me extra, that I just don't get it. read more

I am a regular. When I come in the noon staff knows my drink order. They are all so nice. And the tea is fabulous. My favorite is a large Royal Milk Honey tea with no ice and no tapioca. Along with the different varieties of tea they have smoothies, gelato and small desserts. They have free WiFi, tables where you can study or get some work done, and a small room off to the side to hold a meeting or do group work. The parking lot is congested but they have a lot behind the building. It's located on Ponce near Gustos. I come here a couple times a week. I really love there royal milk tea. Their Thai Milk Tea is great! The cafe is centrally located about 1 light away from Ponce City Market. We visited during the chaos of the coronavirus so they only allowed to-go orders but the cafe looked so cute. They had plenty of seating areas, high ceilings, cute decor, and parking in the front and back of the cafe. The staff was very nice and allowed us to sample the Thai Milk Tea. I tried this place for the first time today after searching for a new cafe to do some work. I saw from photos that there were a good amount of tables and seats and seemed to be a good spot. The ambience can't compensate for the quality of the drinks. I got the passion fruit green tea with lychee and my boyfriend got the signature royal milk tea with tapioca. My drink was ridiculously, abnormally TOO sweet. If I don't want a milk tea, I always get passion fruit and this is by far the sweetest out of the countless ones I've tried. My bf tried it and his face expression said it all. So I endured taking some sips until there was some room in the cup to pour in some water that I asked for earlier. It was still too sweet. So I repeated. Until basically I poured the whole cup of water and finally it tasted okay. My boyfriend's royal milk tea tasted hardly of black tea and mostly of milk and tons of sugar/syrup. It reminded us of the royal milk teas you get at restaurants that don't specialize in boba tea. It didn't have that nice deep black tea flavor at all like its competitors have in Doraville/Chamblee/Duluth. To make it worse, some tapioca were the right consistency while some were hard/rubbery because they weren't cook long enough. Last but not least, the price for a medium milk/fruit drink is $4 including tax. I asked the guy at the register if they charge for toppings. He said no. So I got lychee jelly and my bf got tapioca. But our total turned out to be $8.50...so there is a charge? Definitely don't recommend this store for those who want good boba tea. Medium bubble tea is $4 and large is $5 (both including tax). I got honey Jasmine milk tea and my friend got a taro bubble tea. The tapioca pearl wasn't soaked in a syrup, resulting in bland pearl. Honey Jasmine had good sweetener level along with strong jasmine because the tea base was also jasmine green tea. The taro bubble tea had too powdery finish. The atmosphere was nice with seats varying from a regular study table-chair to chilling couches. There also is a room with behind a wall with bigger table with sofa. Honey Bubble opened January 2013 on Ponce De Leon Ave. directly across from the Clermont Hotel. The store specializes in bubble tea. If you don't know what that is, it's tea with balls of tapioca on the bottom (tapioca pearls, also referred to as "bubbles"). The cups of tea, usually sweet, are sealed at the top and you suck the drink and the bubbles through large straws with wide openings. Bubble tea originated in Taiwan. In Atlanta, the most popular places to get bubble tea are at bakeries and cafes like Sweet Hut, Quickly, Lattea, and White Windmill. These Asian stores are typically found on Buford Highway and in Gwinnett County, so it's interesting Honey Bubble set up shop across from the Clermont Lounge. It's right on the border between Virginia-Highland and Poncey-Highland with Midtown, Inman Park, and Little Five Points closeby. It's good bubble tea shops are expanding into different parts of Atlanta. I'd love to see a shop open in/around Atlantic Station, Georgia Tech, and Westside. There is the Bubble Tea Truck, which can often be found at the Atlanta Food Truck Park on Howell Mill Rd. Honey Bubble is different from the aforementioned businesses. The store isn't "cute" like the others. Instead, it feels more "mature" and hip, to more appropriately fit the surrounding neighborhoods. They've definitely got some sort of modern hipster Chinese/Asian artistic theme going on. There's a semi-private room off to the side which is good for studying/work or more intimate hangouts. I recognize some of their decor -- I have the same Brooklyn Bridge painting at home (I got mine at Target). Honey Bubble's teas are different. The teas taste more natural. They aren't overly sweet. If you go to one of the other bubble tea places, you're going to get a sugar explosion. True to their name, Honey Bubble primarily uses honey to sweeten their teas. Thus, the teas have a milder sweetness to them and I guess you could say they're relatively healthier. The bubble teas are priced at $4 for a medium and $5 for a large (tax included). This is significantly more expensive than bubble teas you can get on Buford Highway and in Gwinnett County ($2.50+). I think a couple reasons for this are Honey Bubble is in a more expensive location and its ingredients are higher quality and costlier. Whether it's worth the extra cost is debatable. I still greatly enjoy the bubble teas from places like Quickly and Sweet Hut, but I can respect the finer natural ingredients and effort that goes into the teas at Honey Bubble. One advantage for Honey Bubble is they offer milk teas made with Lactaid (lactose-free milk) and soy milk. They have about 16 different milk bubble tea flavors and about a dozen "clear" bubble tea flavors (no milk). They also have assorted organic, caffeine-free, and loose leaf teas including ayurvedic (holistic Indian) teas. Tea connoisseurs may appreciate that. I like to order the Japanese matcha (green tea) milk bubble tea just because the other bubble tea places don't normally offer that flavor. Outside of the milk teas, I've tried the Japanese genmaicha tea, which is a green tea made with roasted brown rice. The genmaicha tea has a light brown hue and tastes exactly how it sounds, kind of like a mildly aromatic roasted grass. Compared to the other places, Honey Bubble uses less ice, which means more tea. Also, you can mix and match different tea flavors. I haven't seen that done anywhere else in Atlanta. Some mixtures I recommend include taro-pistachio and lavendar-pistachio. There's a loyalty reward card. Buy seven teas and get the eighth one free. Be sure to ask for one at the register. In addition to tea, Honey Bubble also sells various pastries and sweet treats, all from local Atlanta suppliers. Examples include gelato from Honeysuckle Gelato, macarons, croissants, and scones from Alon's, and cupcakes from Highland Bakery. Service is fine. Free Wi-Fi. There's a $5 credit card minimum. It'd be nice if the credit card minimum lined up with the $4 medium tea price. At a place like Sweet Hut, there is no credit card minimum, so you can pay for a small bubble tea with card. Where I am from almost all of the businesses do this, it's just smart business. Yesterday a Bruce Lee movie was playing by the long couch. I felt it to be very comfortable. The staff here are nice. They also have a conference room here that seems to be popular. A group of ladies were having a meeting in there and within 60 seconds of leaving a birthday party group walked in. On with the bubble tea. I used to live in Shanghai, though I traveled all through China. I like to think I know boba tea, I drank it literally daily, granted it was only 3-4 RMB (0.47-0.63 cents), here it is $4 for a medium and 5 bucks for a large, so of course that's a huge price difference. Drinking Boba tea in China is like drinking water and it becomes addicting. Honestly though since coming back to the states I have not been able to find good quality boba tea like I found in Shanghai. Now, after coming to Honey Bubble I'd like to say I found some almost just as good. Now that's a major compliment!!! I have to be honest, I haven't been to many bubble tea places since I came to Atlanta. Until we were in shelter in place mode, I had only gone to Kung Fu Tea. We were working in the area and decided to drop by for a little break. Only take out was being offered at the time so we stopped in. It wasn't too busy but there were constantly people flowing in and business didn't seem too bad. The menu is on the wall in the back and although they don't have as many flavors as some of the other bubble tea places, they cover most of the popular drinks. They have their signature honey bubble tea already pre-made but others they will mix depending on your preference. Choose the base tea, flavoring, add ins, choose hot or cold and you're set. Good place to stop by especially if you live in the area. Other bubble tea businesses are on Buford highway. This place yells HIPSTER! Love it. Went with a few friends after an organizational meeting to debrief. Friendly service and very, very chill. They allow tasting of the Royal Milk Tea and Thai Tea that's pre-made and displayed. I ordered the Thai Tea and it was okay. Not very flavorful, but just right on the sweetness. The tapioca balls weren't consistently cooked for some were dry and hard to chew. Other than that, I did try a macaroon it was heaven. Perfect texture and moistness although I don't really like eating them. And the little test cup I tried of the Royal Milk Tea tastes amazing. Because of the macaroon and royal milk tea and exceptional service -- my 3 stars bump up to 4 stars. I'll definitely be back to taste more drinks from this place. This place was pretty average to me. I was sort of wowed by their tea selection. Their bubble tea was decent. The quality was okay. The ordering process was laid out clearly on the menu, well, for the bubble tea selection anyway. You first choose the size you want, then you choose the tea base (black or green), then you choose the toppings (there's only like 3), and finally you choose the flavor (royal milk, Thai tea, taro, etc.). I had the green tea pistachio with tapioca pearls. It was an interesting flavor. There wasn't a distinctive flavor to it so it wasn't anything wowing even though the gal taking the order said this was a popular flavor. Minimum $5 credit card charge so order accordingly. And the tax will be included with the prices you see. Strange. I know. So a regular sized bubble tea drink will be $4. You can always order a single macaroon for $2 to meet the minimum. There was a nice stream of people coming in and out of this place even though it was 9 PM ish. Well, it was a Saturday I suppose. There is additional parking it the back. The decor was cute and trendy, but nothing stood out on the visit. People were nice, place was clean. That's all that matters really though. Food/Drink: I came for the bubble tea. The choices were pretty limited. I was torn between the milk tea and the Thai tea. I went with the Thai tea like the cashier/barista recommended, but not sure if I should have. " I would give it a zero but unfortunately I cannot do that so I give it a one" Do not recommend the royal black milk tea. I can't speak for the other drinks but this was just bad. I asked for less sugar and the tea was extremely sweet. I don't know if they added the wrong milk but the tea had this odd oat/plant after taste that was disappointing. The bubbles were undercooked and not good. Also the only size that was available was a large which is like 7 bucks so I am down 7 dollars now. I am an avid bubble tea drinker and felt sad after drinking. I even gave a 20% tip despite the unresponsive staff and lack of urgency to help any of the customers. read more

Great Boba stop in Atlanta. Better than Quickly by far. Unique choices and a lot of regular ones. Big cupcake and pastry selection. The surprise is they make authentic N.Y. egg creams and they use the real Ubet chocolate...the ONLY chocolate syrup for N.Y. egg cream sodas! I wish honey bubble was in California. TRUE RATING: 3.5 but I did not want to ding them a whole star because sometimes its REALLY good. But most times, it's just okay. I've been here over 30 times, so I feel like I can give an honest review. It's the closet Boba place to me, and it helps satisfy the "boba gap" between downtown & chamblee. Drinks: Coffee Milk Tea 7/10 Coffee & Caramel Milk Tea 8/10 Signature Royal Milk Tea (8/10) These are depending on who makes it, I've had times where it taste like water, and they happily remade my drink. Boba: 6/10 NOW i've definitely had their boba when it is a 10/10 but I can count that experience on a few fingers. Generally the boba is bad, but it's not particularly good. I've never had an issue with the texture, but it's a matter of sweetness. Most times it's barely sweet and other times it generally lacks taste at all. I just wish there would be some consistency with this because I would then give them 5/5. read more

Friendly service, cute aesthetic and really good boba! A little pricey but worth it in my opinion

First boba tea spot I visited in the city of Atlanta a few years ago. There weren't too many options downtown for boba at the time as most were in the Buford area. Parking is limited but we still visit often because I absolutely love their teas. Probably the best for teas mixed with boba. The slushies are also good. Some of my faves are the thai mango, green apple, royal milk and taro. I love the coconut palm slushy with coconut milk and lychee pearls. My daughter became a boba tea lover because of Honey Bubble. It was within short driving distance from Dance 411 where she danced for years so we visited often. Many of her friends became boba tea drinkers and Honey Bubble customers. Absolutely love Honey Bubble. If you want some good boba tea, this place is a must in the city! read more

I've been here during my first visit to Atlanta. What a life saver. Let me interject a little story here -- so first of all, I'm super Asian. I eat rice for breakfast, noodles for lunch m, and boba for dinner. For a good five days I stayed at my friend's family's place in Tennessee and boy, they don't have any boba place. So when we drove down to ATL, there was only one thing I wanted - a good milk tea. (Well, a couple of things actually, kbbq, sushi, and yes, milk tea.) So when I googled boba and some places finally came up, I was hopeful and asked my friend to go here IMMEDIATELY. I'm not sure if it was just the craving talking but the drink was really good. I'm a basic b so I just got their jasmine milk tea with boba. I think the place is pretty cozy and there's definitely scarcity of tea places in this area or at least just for that day because it was packed. We sat outside and took photos and left. I'd say I'm pretty impressed with the taste and the service and when I visit ATL again, I will for sure come visit this place again. read more
