[[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything about this place is so cute and luxurious![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The fact that it looks like you're walking into a little bakery and then end up at a speakeasy is so brilliant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Typical lounge prices for drinks, but the experience is definitely worth going at least once [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say the music was a bit loud so it was hard for conversation, but that would be my only complaint[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The James Room speakeasy is a great place to come and catch up with friends, sit at the bar to hang out, or even go on a date.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had their wings before which I remember to be pretty decent. Prices for drinks are not cheap, but pretty standard with the surrounding area and standard bars. The bartenders are very friendly. No complaints!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a beltline speakeasy with different djs and themes each night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the musical variety and the cute decor on the inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great for a night with friends or a date.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you know, you know -- and if you don't, well... good luck finding the door. The James Room is tucked away on the Beltline like a secret your cool cousin won't tell you, and honestly, I hope it stays that way. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once inside, it's all smooth music and smoother drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They serve food here -- I came for the cocktails -- but trust me, these drinks are the main course, the dessert, and the after-dinner story you'll tell your friends (without revealing too much, of course). Each one is crafted with intention, mystery, and possibly wizardry. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe? Upscale casual. Like if James Bond ditched the tux for a leather jacket and called it a night out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Five stars for the experience, the craftsmanship, and the fact that I now feel like I belong to an exclusive club... that serves excellent cocktails in moody lighting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cheers.

Stopped by after a concert at the tabernacle on a Friday night. My friend and I were having a girl's night and celebrating her birthday a little early. We sat at the bar with no wait. Bartender was quick with the drinks and even gave the birthday girl a few drinks on the house. I was most impressed with the chef. I ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken. However, it was a little delay with it being made. She personally came out and apologized for the delay and offered me some wings while I wait. The wings were bomb and so was the Mac and cheese. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a great time for a reasonable price with excellent service and a nice ambiance with great music and a mixed laidback crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

It's been over a year since I have been to The James Room and they still haven't lost their touch! So much so that I've been here two Saturday's in a row! I came last week Saturday and they literally salvaged the night me and my girlies were having. We stayed until the dj finished his set! I had their espresso martinis (three to be exact) while there. This Saturday my best friend was in town for the Beyoncé concert so we came here before she flew back to Florida. This time in addition to three espresso martinis, I had their mushroom flatbread and it was delicious! Jordan was our server and he definitely took care of us. My best friend enjoyed her crab cakes and drinks too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, we had so much fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He played a few Beyoncé songs because of the patrons in their Cowboy Carter gear. Lol. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Music: Dj Kerosene I believe is his name and he's there every Saturday. He literally incorporates everything into his set.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told him I was from Miami and I heard a little bit of Rick Ross and Trick Daddy. Parking: Paid parking in the garage.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]St James has always been THAT sexy spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here on a Thursday night and there was live music! A DJ who was backed up by person playing a keytar. It was a very eclectic experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend and I stopped in for a drink and to chill. I got the peach cobbler, which was delish. My friend got an old fashion which was not made to her standard. But they remedied that for her. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The crowd was sophisticated and beautiful, that night was a great reminder to visit more often![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a parking lot behind the building. Parking was only $9 for the time we stayed, but is hourly.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This speakeasy is wonderfully awesome, unique, & inviting![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From the plush decor to the intensely delicious cocktails to the cordial bartenders, I am glad we wandered into this magical place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot for a 1st date![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Behind the magic door waits an evening of enjoyment. 01.31.2025.

Absolutely not your typical quiet, subdued speakeasy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]By day, it functions as a café serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, and pastries in a bright and inviting space[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]By night, it transforms into a moody cocktail lounge with tapas style offerings, all behind the hidden entrance aka bookcase/door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The energy is higher, and the vibe is always buzzing. The dim lights and music transforms the venue into a vibrant, intimate escape.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The craft made libations and the bar scene is a vibe all itself as its offers a unique experience of social interaction and good energy. The menu is a selection of food items that transition from daytime café options to evening lounge bites. The food selection at night is more limited, focusing on light bites and shareable plates. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A wonderful reminiscent of a true speakeasy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ms. Que, you're the perfect person for welcoming customers in.

    Rude Bartender

We arrived 35 minutes before close for 1 drink as a night cap for our evening. We were welcomed politely by the host who invited us in to the speakeasy but did advise it would likely be close to last call. We understood and let him know we only wanted a quick drink anyway. Unfortunately, we were greeted rudely with a dirty look from the bartender when we entered. He looked us up and down, and feel because we did not fit the clientele, as two Caucasians, he gave a look to the host that we were not welcome. The host apologized, and let us know he would not serve us. The host did not need to give us the apology tour because it was obvious the demographic they wanted and would not have been given the same level of service as the others in the bar. We were welcomed back another time by the host, but are from out of state, and advised we would not be back.

I never foresee and problems here at the James Room I always have a wonderful time but I have to say that I arrived yesterday expecting the vegan meatloaf on the menu and was SUPER disappointed that it wasn't so I opted in for the Arugula salad and the vegan mushroom flatbread with truffle oil and it was heavy on the oil, not my favorite. My chocolate martini was amazing.

Upon entry I was bit taken back at the lack of customer service from the host and security. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We almost turned around, however once inside the vibes were nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was early in the evening so it wasn't busy at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were average for the price... 4 drinks for $80..I guess this is the new ATL! Inflation rate.

It was my first time here I've heard great things about it. We didn't have reservations but didn't mind waiting for a place to open at the bar and it only took 10 minutes for one to open. The speakeasy is small but nicely decorated. They had mocktails so we grabbed a couple at the bar, the service was great. I'm not sure the best place to park because we walked the beltline to get here.

They hold a jazz night every Tuesday with live music for a nice chill, yet fun, vibe. Just a warning, the space inside is pretty small--typically there's optional seating outside, but it's really chilly at the moment (although they have heaters)--but there's more seating downstairs in The Victorian Atlanta plant shop. I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!

Also, parking isn't free--you'll need to scan a QR code or text to pay. We made online reservations to celebrate my husband's birthday and were glad we did. Our server, Robert, was fantastic--attentive without being overbearing. He made great recommendations and was happy to move us from a small table to a more comfortable booth when we asked. They offer a wide variety of alcoholic drinks, but we opted for "Mocktail #2," which was pink, fruity, and refreshing with watermelon, mint, and lime soda. We started with the Chargrilled Louisiana Oysters, which were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious--honestly, the best I've ever had. The Volcano Roll was also great--generous in size and perfect for sharing. It's listed as having "spicy crab," but I didn't find it spicy at all (a plus for me!). If you want more heat, wasabi is served on the side. For entrees, I had the Salmon Teriyaki and my husband had the Braised Beef. My salmon was perfectly cooked and came with fluffy white rice and mixed vegetables. But he definitely won the entree round--his beef was tender, flavorful, and served with what tasted like sweet mashed potatoes (the menu said red potatoes). The glazed carrots were slightly firm but still tasty. To top it all off, we were served a mini chocolate cake with whipped vanilla icing--soft, rich, and perfect for sharing. The inside isn't the largest resource been to, but has plenty of seating. The atmosphere is relaxed and we saw people dressed up and down. Overall, we had a great experience. Bully Boy is a gem, and I hope you're lucky enough to have Robert as your server!

We placed a reservation online and arrived a little early to fight the ATL traffic, and our table was still ready for us. The standout at this location to us was the service. I also had a cocktail which tasted carefully crafted. We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant as well, the decor was hip and right in our style. First, I tried to see the menu online but quickly found there are a lot of menus and they change, so you can't really know what they're serving. They had just five entrees to pick from, and none were very appetizing. Each was over-engineered, too. They were good about asking about allergies, but if you're traveling and careful about introducing new things to your diet, maybe this place isn't for you. They do have a steak. At $200, it's made for the entire table. You can't just get a steak, even though they clearly have steak. Frankly, a lot of the menu was just gross. Sweetbreads, steak tartare, veal. We picked a chicken plate with potatoes. The potatoes were fine. The chicken was very dry. I asked for iced tea. "We don't serve tea products" was the response. WTF? And while the cocktail and wine choices seemed numerous, the beer was extremely limited. We just stuck with water. Then there was the service. The staff were polite and prompt, but some of the habits were just deeply weird. They kept coming by and folding our napkins. Like, you get up, use the bathroom (an unmarked door adjacent to the kitchen), come back, and somebody has picked up your napkin, the one you've been touching your face with, folded it with their bare hands, and left it there. Look, servers roll silverware and I'm no germophobe, but we really don't need more people touching my napkin throughout the meal, do we? This carried over to other staff who would randomly stop by to clear plates and wipe the table down while we all had to stop talking, watch them replace perfectly clean silverware with new perfectly clean silverware, and then leave. Always with new people. None of this makes it a bad restaurant. It's probably exactly what some people are looking for. It just isn't for me.
