I've been to Honey Bubble many times and had great experiences. Their gelato and tea is delicious. However, the reasoning behind my 1 star was the customer service. I ordered a small gelato, and typically with gelato, the cups are small but they are supposed to be packed and overflowing with gelato. This is how it had always been when I went there previously, and yesterday when I went I expected nothing different. Unfortunately, they had only given me half a scoop of gelato that didn't fill up the cup even half way. I went back and explained to them that I had always gotten the small gelato and it was always packed fully, and if I could get another scoop. They said no. No reasoning, and then just stared at me. I'm sorry, but this is literally the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'm not sure if the worker is familiar with the motto "the customer is always right." They valued one more scoop of gelato more than my loyalty to their cafe. I won't be going back anymore, now it's just a rip off with rude employees. read more

I came here in 2012 when it first opened and it was great to have bubble tea downtown. However I noticed that now they have containers of pre-made tea and I chose Thai tea. Not sure what I was drinking but the Thai tea itself tasted like plastic and the bubbles tasted old. So my advice? Avoid Thai tea. read more

My friends drink tasted like toilet water and the milk bubble teas tasted pretty watered down and not good at all. The boba tasted very bad and flavorless. The passion fruit slushee was pretty good thought that's why I give it two stars and the people working were pretty nice. Cute place thought. I'm giving three stars because despite the crazy review responses, by whom I'm assuming is the owner, i decided to give it a try. I'm very new to the concept of "bubble tea" and had never heard of boba until I saw it in a MIC video about a company up in New York. I was pretty excited to find out it is a popular thing and that there was one in Atlanta. I wouldn't consider myself well-versed in tea knowledge or having a wide tea palette, but this place was disgusting. I tried the sample, did not enjoy it and asked to taste another, and they told me I wouldn't like the other. The staff didn't educate me on what anything was, even after I told them I had never tried it. They seemed a little put out that I was even asking questions. I've been drinking tea at Honey Bubble for years now and they never disappoint me! I almost consider myself a bubble tea connoisseur since I'm always traveling around just to find new teas to try. Honey Bubble was one of my first bubble tea travel spots and it definitely outshines some of its competitors with their attention to quality. My favorite flavor is the peach black tea and their snowcaps are all delicious too. Besides their delicious tea, they have free wifi, a separate secluded room for larger parties and outdoor sitting with a beautiful view of the Clermont Lounge. Their parking spots are limited and a little cramped but they have parking in the back too. Overall, it's a great place to checkout if you're new to bubble tea or a tea explorer like me. read more

Their bubble tea is underwhelming to me compared to drinking Boaboa tea in Chinatown-San Francisco. I've had the Pistachio and Royal Milk here which they both were pretty bland. I didn't taste the pistachio at all it was more like drinking goat milk. The Royal Milk was simply oolong tea with milk. My tastebuds were left unstimulated. My teenage daughter didn't enjoy hers neither to the point where she didn't drink it. The establishment itself was very cute and the staff was friendly and attentive. Got the Taro tea with soy milk and tapioca-AMAZING. The tapioca was really fresh and the Taro wasn't quite what I was used to, but it was still delicious. The people working were very sweet and helpful. Prices were a little high, but worth it for such good tea. read more

This is an excellent working ambiance. However, the WiFi was having issues both times I visited and I had to leave shortly after getting there in order to get work done. I understand having tech troubles at times, but this situation was frustrating. I walked in, laptop bag in hand and ordered coffee (yes, I know it's a bubble tea place, but I really just wanted a quiet place to work). Coffee is $2.50, and I was told there is a $5 MINIMUM on card charges. That's already off-putting to me, because I know it's up to the shop to arbitrarily set those minimums. It's kind of a sleazy ploy to force you to purchase more under the guise of not wanting to pay small charge fees. Then I noticed their main tea beverage is $4... So they have a $5 minimum when most of what they sell is a $4 drink. What? That makes no sense to me. I don't have cash, and only want coffee, so I offer to go ahead and pay for my refill that I'm certainly going to get after finishing the first cup. She obliges and I pay $5 plus tip. I sit down, get all set up, and realize the internet is down... I ask about it, and they say that someone is on the way to fix it. Now I've paid for two cups of coffee, neither of which I've drank yet, and there's no way for me to work. What's worse is that they knew the internet was down, saw I had a laptop, and still let me buy myself an hour's worth of coffee. Nothing done out of malice, but it wasn't a good experience. This is my FAVORITE place to go. The quality of bubble tea is excellent, the environment is aesthetically stimulating and the service is wonderful. The owners are so nice and the cashiers know me by name. Updated Review (02/2017) tl;dr: Pick your flavors wisely! It'll make the difference between a sub-par first experience and becoming a dedicated, repeat customer. Drinks: I'm not a bubble tea expert. I usually lean towards clear bubble tea, but tried a milk-based tea at Honey Bubble. There is a crazy variety of flavors to pick from! My one gripe is with their milk choices. They carry every type of milk (whole, almond, soy, coconut, etc.) except the popular 2%, 1%, and low fat milk. Side note: Coconut and almond milk cost an extra $0.75. Recommended Drink: I'm a huge coconut fan. I'd recommend a medium bubble tea with the following options: Green Tea, Coconut Milk, Tapioca Pearls, and Coconut Palm (or Taro). Service: Friendly staff that's willing to help you decide from all the options available. You can also sample a select number of the flavors. Location and Parking: Small venue with contemporary decor and feel. Slightly strange smell and humidity level in the venue. They only have a few parking spots (7-8) available in front of their store. read more

I had some serious doubts about bubble tea in Poncey Highlands. Like seriously, this isn't Gwinnett or Buford Hwy. I was super pleased with my tea and the fact that it was lactose free! Im not sure why a drink geared towards a population of lactose intolerant people didn't think before hand to make all their drinks dairy free... anyway, like others mentioned, the tea wasn't too sweet and the boba was perfectly chewy. Use to come here all of the time out of sheer convenience since it was so close by to where I live. Everything was good and dandy until one day I came in with a friend and brought some chipotle with me (not knowing you couldn't bring in food- whoops). My friend ordered a drink and I was wanting to try hers since I have never ordered that drink before, so I waited until her drink came out- all while eating my chipotle. Her drink came out and I decided I didn't like it. So I was about to go up there and choose what I wanted when out of nowhere I hear barbaric clapping from the barista behind the counter. "MAAM. MAAM. MAAM. MAAM!!!!!!!!!!!" Who was the clapping for? Me. Because I was eating Chipotle. Could you not come out from behind the counter and speak to me like a normal human. I felt like I was a dog being yelled at. It was pretty loud in there that day but, you better believe that everyone in the room heard and it was extremely embarrassing. I just don't understand. This barista sees me there all of the time, you'd think that you would treat a regular with some respect, especially someone who sends so many new people there that have not heard of your business at all. I've been to Honey Bubble and held small meetings in their meeting room in the back. I've wrote great things about them on my blog and bought bubble tea for each person at my meetings. Today we were treated very unfairly. I own 3 successful businesses here in Atlanta and the only difference today was that we had Black men in our room. A White male aggressively approached the men in our group and an Asian woman came and stood over us saying she was "checking on things." We've shared on Facebook and others are sharing about how unfairly we were treated today. We also have shared in on Instagram so if you are Black do not attend this place anymore. We will keep sharing about unfair racist treatment until it stops. read more

I come here whenever I'm in the area. They have a good selection of beverages but I've only had their bubble teas. I've tried the snowcap once and there was little to be desired. Stick to the bubble teas and you'll love the place. They have a credit card minimum which is a little annoying, but if you get a large, you should be fine. Here's what it comes down to: the bubble tea served at Honey Bubble is apparently made of better quality ingredients, hence the slight increase in price. I do like how the drinks aren't as sugary, but sometimes the texture of the boba is inconsistent. I recommend the Signature Royal Milk Tea with boba. I've also had a macaroon there which I thought was okay. What I do like about Honey Bubble is the atmosphere and location. Honey Bubble is the only bubble tea business currently within the perimeter (excluding Buford Hwy). It's obvious that the business is catering towards a more diverse population in the Ponce Highlands area. The wall at the front entrance gives a clear, descriptive explanation of what bubble tea is and where it comes from. The interior decor is modern, urban, and Brooklyn-esque. There's also a small room in back optimal for group study/work sessions. read more

To whom it may concern, My daughter and I just left your establishment on 798 ponce de leon Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. We had just came from walking the Little Five Points area and was looking for somewhere to relax for a few and enjoy some bubble tea. Our visit did not go as planned (we sat in our car with our drinks to avoid being uncomfortable). This was due to your employees overpowering the restaurant with loud noise and arrogant laughing. We didn't even get recognized/spoken to when we walked into your store. It took us a few moments to figure out where we needed to go to place our order which was hard to do since our server couldn't hear us over the visiting friends and other employees. You could tell she was frustrated but couldn't react to them without being unprofessional. Regardless, if it was my business, I would want to know what is taking place so I could allow my patrons to enjoy their experience. We are really disappointed by our visit. read more

The place was tricky to maneuver, there was very little space for the line or to wait in... once i got my drink, it was overly syrupy and the tapioca pearls weren't fully hydrated... i could get by with one or the other, but both? Was passing by and saw the huge was display that caught my eye. Servers are extra friendly and informative. Offered us a taste of their best seller right off the bat and made suggestions for if we liked it sweeter or less sweet. Free WiFi (I needed to submit something to school, so it cam in handy) window bar along front of restaurant, plenty of tables and chairs for getting together or working on computers, room off to the side for a little more privacy for work or socializing, and there are a few couches to relax. People who are comparing Honey Bubble to Sweet Hut are idiots. This place doesn't pump their teas full of syrups and sugars. It's actually real, freshly brewed in-store tea; not some pre-mixed powder that 99% other bubble tea places use. That's why their teas are not as sweet as you might be used to, but are still sweet to most people. They use honey and brown sugar. People coming in here expecting Sweet Hut pre-mixed, powdery,syrup loaded, fake-flavored B.S. need to leave. Quality people go here for quality, genuine bubble tea. "When I walked into the restaurant for the first time, I really enjoyed the look and atmosphere of the restaurant. It had a clean and chill "Starbucks" look to it, if you will. I've always enjoyed bubble tea and wanted to try it at this location. So I got the Royal bubble tea as it pays similiarities with the original tannish colored bubble tea. And I must say, I WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY! I thought to myself, "Wow. This bubble tea tastes better than Taiwan's!" (I have tried bubble tea in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and California) But I thought Taiwan's bubble tea was the best! Not anymore! You can really taste the FRESHNESS of the tea, they really must be using fresh organic ingredients as they claim! And the actually "pearls..." My goodness, that blew me away the most! The pearls in the bubble tea in Taiwan are just there because and have no flavorz But Honey Bubble's pearls actually has flavor! It's has a very subtle honey taste to it, which I love about it! Our server, Morgan, was also very friendly, outgoing, and charismatic! She was very engaging with my friend and I and only better helped our time at Honey Bubble! I bookmarked this place while looking for dinner and was excited to have some boba after my meal. The interior is nice and the staff is friendly enough, but my biggest beef was with the quality of the actual tapioca pearls. They were too soft and soggy and I almost fell apart in my mouth. However, the milk tea was good, which is what saved it. Maybe it's because it was later at night and the boba had been soaking for too long? It's really nice to have a bubble tea place in Atlanta. As in, the City of Atlanta. I'm not the biggest bubble tea fan since it's usually too sweet for my liking, but I get a craving every now and then. I've been here a couple of times and it's a little hit-or-miss. They're definitely still going through some growing pains. The first time I went in there, I was blown away by the clean, sophisticated decor. But then they added random Asian things on the wall and now it just looks cluttered. For a while they started saying "ni hao" to anyone who entered... that was just awkward, and I'm Chinese. I like atmosphere as much as the next person but hate it when it feels forced. As far as selection goes, it's decent but it ain't Sweet Hut. From talking with the lady at the counter who seems to have a stake in the business, many of their drinks are powder-based, which is usually a no-no for me. There are a couple drinks that are tea-based - just be sure to ask. I've had the royal bubble milk tea blend which is their "signature" flavor and it's pretty good. Prices: I haven't really been paying attention but I think they just increased the price of a medium drink to $4 and a large to 5 (including tax). Pretty pricey. They also carry a snack selection including cupcakes from Atlanta Cupcake Factory, pastries from Alon's, and gelato from Honeysuckle. Love that they have partnered with local businesses. Some interesting NY concoctions on the menu too since apparently the owners are from there which I am looking forward to try on a future visit. One more thing: I wish the ordering process was a little smoother. As in, there is someone taking your drink order, that same person or someone else making the drink, and then finally someone else ringing you up at the cash register at the end. Sounds simple, but it seems like there's always been a little bit of extra waiting every time I've been here. All in all, they have some things going for them with some room to improve.
