I have had this place on my try list for a while it was just a matter of driving down to it (it's a little far from me) but the drive was worth it!!! The owner was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. He walked me through their menu and different cakes he offered (it was so many choices and hard to decide what to choose). Another customer gave some recommendations. So I ended up going with the Honey Bun cake and the Rum Banana Pudding cake...oh...my...goodness!!!!! So glad I finally tried this place!!! I saw an advertisement on their social media for a "snow day" dinner plate special. It was one entree, rice, two sides, a drink and a dessert for just $15. It had snowed pretty heavily so finding parking was a little harder than usual. The place is small, so ordering inside and waiting could get a little tight. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, some of their main entrees had already been sold out, but we went with the jerk chicken and the brisket dinner plates. We did have to wait a while for the food to be ready so I would recommend calling ahead to order, if you know what you want. Their website has all of their cake options listed but I did not see a space for the specials. When we got home with the food that's when we really got to see how HUGE the portions are. All of the food was AMAZING!!!! And it had a delicious Carolina BBQ sauce on it that I just couldn't get enough of. This place is in walking distance from my house...phew I'm in trouble now. The cakes are absolutely delectable. I mean scrumptious! I danced after trying the strawberry cheesecake. Everyone I've let try any cake I've had has said it was delicious. The owner Mr. Anthony, well my sister and I nicknamed him Homey Bun Anthony because he is as sweet as can be. The service is exceptional and I knew immediately that he was from the south. He's so accommodating and always willing to let you sample something or indulge you with history. Any questions I've had were answered with glee. It's just an all around great experience. I came here to grab something for a very small holiday gathering with friends. Pulled chicken, brisket, and salmon...all so so good. The sauce is made custom made. Everything is just divine. If you haven't been, you must go! How am I supposed to get my summer body with places like this around?! I've been to a new local biz that sells their cakes -- specifically their rum cakes, and I've been in love! I don't know why no one has ever thought to add banana to rum cake before... it's a game changer! I told my parents about it and let them taste it... it was so good to them they proceeded to make their way down to Indian Head. What I didn't know is that they were going to bring a bunch of desserts by my house so we could split them! Cant believe I drove all the way from Waldorf for this. The place is cluttered & shabby. The red velvet doesn't taste fresh it doesnt even taste like red velvet cake & the icing isnt cream cheese. Its very dense & not soft & moist. The banana pudding is gummy w/ old brown bananas & the soft cookie crumble on top is neither nilla waffers nor chessmen. *This is an updated review.* In my original review I expressed disappointment but my spouse wanted us to give this new bakery TIME to get its legs. We do appreciate that a new bakery has set up shop and I saw neighbors buying slices on my first visit. We would like to be able to get our birthday cakes from here. Our first birthday cake order was underwhelming. The cake slice we bought to sample was great but the cake itself had not turned out well. The owners noticed, reached out and offered to make us whole. I added 2 more stars just because of their unsolicited response and then I've added 2 more now that I've picked up the replacement. We are planning to present this huge cheesecake Sunday at my brother's party. I'll post a second photo once we've decorated it. [also grabbed dinner from another food truck Smokers Delight BBQ llc - review left] It was the end of their day so there was only 1 choice left of cake, Sweet Potato with a buttercream icing. Bought 2 slices for $8. Got home and put it on a plate to eat. I'm a baker myself and would definitely order a cake from this lady. The cakes are yummy. The brisket wrap was good but for some reason I was expecting smoked brisket, not oven roasted brisket. The wrap tasted like a steak & cheese. The service was great. The young man & young lady provided great customer service behind the counter as did the woman on the sandwich side. Very moist. The Icings are good & not overbearing and was the sweetest part of the cake. The cheese cake is a cheesecake bottom with a regular cake with icing on top. The cheese cake portion was good. Very creamy with a nicely sweetened graham cracker crust. The lemon strawberry cake on top was not that great. It was hard or stiff in texture & the two textures together were strange and did not complement each other for me. Each cake separately was good but I did not like the cheesecake with the lemon strawberry cake together. However my grown son loved it. So maybe it was just me. Overall the cakes were very tasty. I will definitely visit again. The lady who waited on me was very pleasant & helpful. This was my 1st visit but I've heard great things. They are open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and had a wide variety of cakes when I went on Saturday afternoon but the owner said that is not normally the case. So when you go go on Thursday evening for the freshest and best choices. The slice prices decreased the more cake you purchase. They sold slices & whole cakes. Everything looked delicious.
