I drove almost an hour to try this place. I wasn't greeted when I walked in. It was nicely decorated tho. They were out of most of the things that I wanted. So I opted for the lemon curd malasada. It was $4.50 for one. when I got in the car I realized she didn't put a napkin or anything in there. When I bit into it, the lemon curd dropped from the bottom onto my dress. It was ok. I don't see the difference between this and a regular donut. I don't think it's worth driving out of the way for to be honest. But to each her own. read more

Stopped in for kevins birthday. We didnt have a line so we walked right up and started asking questions about their donut displayed on the countertop. We asked about the prices on the donuts and were a little concerned, but honestly figured they must be boutique. We decided on a half dozen donuts... regardless of the type of donut you got the price was the same. By noon, there were about 15 different donuts left that they had stock of. 4 vegan ones. The donuts are about the size of a baseball in circumference. Nowadays, social media is all about size and color, this place is extremely lacking in the size department. The best donut we tried from here was a vegan coconut one, and the bake on it was a slightly different texture than the other donuts. Honestly, the only reason this place got a second star is cuz of the coconut one. Texture was actually correct and not doughy. The other 5 donuts were as follows in order of taste and textures and actual baking: cinnamon n sugar, then everything with bacon, then Homer, then pandan, then Boston cream. I should have just made donuts at home with this place being as expensive as it was. The Boston cream custard was runny af, so either add a starch slurry or slow heat and actually make it simmer to make the custard cook correctly. Like you all know this, but you CANNOT charge 4.25$ per "specialty" donut and have very bad technique. The texture of all the donuts were somewhere between a light cake-like donut and a ball of raw dough. The Vietnamese coffee was meh. We will not be back. Next time, I will just go to Safeway and buy a half dozen of day old donuts that are randomly placed in a box and slightly better baked than this place and be reminded when I only pay 5$ for the box that I won't be as disappointed as I was on kevins birthday by stopping here. Best coffee/malasada stop in Southern Maryland. In this area, there are only a couple of spots I'll go out of my way for when it comes to coffee and pastries and B. Doughnut in La Plata is at the top of that list. The service is always wonderful, and the staff is friendly and welcoming every single time I visit. But let's talk about the real star: the malasadas. These fluffy, flavorful treats blow traditional doughnuts out of the water. I highly recommend the ube malasada it's my personal favorite, and I keep going back for it. It's so good that when I host brunches or have guests visiting, I make a point to pick up malasadas from here. They're always a hit. ALWAYS. Finally tried this place after a friend has been telling me how good they are. Tried a vegan one from her, I think it was berry, I loved the texture and that they weren't dry. Went the next day and ordered a dozen, 11 sweet and 1 savory. The bacon one was good but much saltier than I expected. Good amount of filling inside it though. Thought I'd really like the coffee cream one but I wasn't a fan, but again great amount of filling. They def don't skimp on it. I also tried the cookie butter one which I really liked. I would return again but def can't go too often, it can get pricey. Also tried: Thai tea, courtesy of my friend, nice and sweet! Spanish latte, iced, really enjoyed. The donuts here are different but still pretty good. This Asian inspired donut shop has very unique donuts that are uniquely shaped and most are stuffed with cream. I asked what was popular and was told the Pandan and the Ube. I tried the Pandan and it was solid but not special. I'll try the Ube next time. I also tried a glazed donut. It seems more like an iced donut because it has icing on it rather than just glazed sugar, but it was still tasty - I preferred it to the Pandan. If this place was closer I'd be in serious trouble. Many years ago, they were temporarily in Union Market, and I took my parents there after hearing about them so much. It was busy, and flavors were selling out fast, but we got a good haul and we all LOVED it! Fast forward to now, we made the ~50ish minute drive to La Plata -- the main motivator... their hyperlimited crab dip donut. In case you didn't know, B Doughnut has some fantastic sweet donuts, but they also have savory ones! Chives & lox, everything bagel, and others. Anyways, this was probably the most Maryland thing I've ever done -- and I didn't even like crabs until I was an adult LOL. So my mom and I showed up around 8:00am, and guess what... there were two crab dip doughnuts left. They open at 6:00am. I wasn't kidding when I said hyperlimited, but it was absolutely worth it. B. Doughnut's treats are small, light, and it's easy to eat a lot of them -- DANGEROUS. And they're always coming up with fun limited flavors. Back in the day they didn't exist, but they have acai bowls, bubble tea, coffee, and more on their menu now! I didn't get to try any of that, but I'll be doing that soon enough. My job sent me on an adventure today lol so I Yelped "Coffee Shops" & this place popped up...I decided to give it a try... Upon entry the store front is clean...wasn't too busy...I greeting right away as I entered and the young man asked if this was my first time at the coffee shop. And indeed it was. I was like a kid in a candy shop lol trying to decide what I wanted...I decided on a cinnamon sugar, jelly filled, Boston cream, White chocolate Raspberry, and a chocolate with a chocolate covered strawberry...and a cup of black coffee. I enjoyed the coffee paired with the Jelly Filled doughnut but I decided to share the others. I personally like my doughnuts lite and fluffy lol not too "cake-y"/thick... These might be the best donuts I've ever had. They are just the right size (not huge), tender and soft, and I can tell the fillings are homemade. I love the crunch of the sugar on the outside. If you want a treat that isn't overly sweet, this is the place for you. I personally stay away from the unfilled donuts bc they tend to be a bit more dry, the glazed ones although unfilled are better (key lime pie yum!) The filled donuts however, are quite tasty, especially the boston cream! They have a huge selection of different flavors, adding new ones regularly. Stumbled upon this little spot on our way up to NY and it was the perfect spot to stretch our legs and a lil pick me up! Sat I. B. Doughnut opened in May 2018. They serve fresh-made Hawaiian-style malasadas and doughnuts along with hot and cold coffees and teas. What is a malasada? Mal assada means badly baked in Portuguese. It is a fried type of yeast doughnut, made with eggs, butter, and milk or evaporated milk. The traditional Portuguese malasadas are coated with granulated sugar and do not contain holes or any type of filling. The exterior is fried to a golden brown until it is almost crispy. The interior is soft and fluffy. It should have the taste of eggs and be slightly sweet. Hawaiian style malasadas differ from Portuguese malasadas by having fillings, holes, and/or various toppings.    My wife and I bought a Bacon Everything Bagel doughnut, a glazed doughnut, a Pandan malasada, and a C.T.C. latte. The Bacon Everything Bagel doughnut was made with a bread dough that was coated on one side with seeds and seasoning. It was filled with whipped cream cheese that had a salty bacon flavor. There were 2 problems with this doughnut. The filling was a little too salty and the dough was like plain bread. It had no sweetness and no butter flavor. It tasted like a roll that was fluffy and somewhat moist. The seeds and seasoning coating tasted fine.    The glazed doughnut had the same plain bread dough as above with a vanilla glaze on one side. The glaze was moderately sweet with a light vanilla flavor. The doughnut had the texture and taste of a dinner roll. It was moist and fluffy. More sugar, some vanilla, and less flour was needed to make it taste like a doughnut instead of bread. The glaze was good-tasting though.    The Pandan malasada had a pandan custard filling and was coated with granulated sugar. Pandan is a tropical plant prized for its blade-like green leaves. The leaves can be made into paste or extract for use in food and medicines. The flavor is described as grassy with a hint of coconut. The malasada filling was moderately sweet with a light coconut and sweet rice flavor. It was light green in color with no grassy flavor. The dough was the same plain white bread type as all the other doughnuts. Malasada dough is not the same as regular doughnuts. It should have more eggs. Their version of malasadas needs improvement. They should add more eggs and sugar. Decrease the flour a little. Substitute half of the milk in their recipe for half and half. The doughnut will be creamier, richer, and tastier. Overall, this doughnut was good tasting only because of the pandan filling and sugar coating.    C.T.C. latte stands for Cinnamon Toast Coffee latte. It was a latte with cinnamon syrup and topped with cinnamon sugar. The barista made some latte art in it which was great and we appreciated it. The latte had good milk foam and tasted fine. The coffee flavor wasn't strong. They sell 3 types of coffee from Rise Up Coffee, a small-batch coffee roaster and retailer headquartered in Easton, MD. The names of the coffees were Organic Maryland, Organic Espresso, and Organic Decaf.    The dining area and restrooms were very clean. It was bright, colorful, and airy in the dining area. It had 4 tables, a side table, 13 chairs, and 2 benches. No outside seating. The service was cordial, attentive, and relatively quick. The atmosphere of the shop was relaxed, the coatings and fillings for the doughnuts were good, but the doughnut doughs were lacking in flavor. The overall flavor of their doughnuts were good as long as you pick the ones with flavorful fillings or coatings. I rate their doughnuts at a little over 3 stars, but the service and ambiance push my rating to 4 stars. This was our first visit. Doughnuts are made daily. Maybe we visited on a day when a mistake was made with the dough. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. We may give them another visit. read more

We visited this cute little place after an early morning kayak trip. The staff were friendly and very helpful as it was our first time there. There were plenty of options even though it was a late Saturday morning. We ordered a dozen bagel and my absolute favorite was the bacon everything bagel donut (I'm definitely more of a savory person than a sweet) and it was heaven! I loved every bite.
