First, a fair warning to visitors - if you do not know Spanish you will likely feel a bit lost and out of place. A lot of the signage was in Spanish and so was the language people spoke. I know enough Spanish to speak to a 4 year old, so I was way out of my league! I noticed upon arrival that they have some baked good, grocery goods, and apparently hot dishes given there were a few tables where people were actively eating. I just kind of strolled around for a minute looking lost. There is no one readily available to help people like me with the deer-in-headlights look. I had hoped to try an empanadas but it seemed intimidating so I strolled over to the shelves where there were various breads, pastries and cookies. I was still a bit lost because I first saw people with trays and grabbing breads but I thought they might be employees. But after wandering in another circle I noticed a lady grabbing a tray and tongs. I then saw the little sign that said to use the trays and tongs for the baked goods. I then followed the lady and managed to grab a few items. I had hoped for some cupcakes or donuts but saw neither. I did however get a cheese danish, a couple of cookies and a couple of breads. The items I got were pretty good and the bread was fairly soft. I certainly wasn't disappointed in any of the items I grabbed, I only wished there were a few other sweet items and a better system to better understand how best to navigate the store. But all things considered, the baked goods were good enough that I may very well be back to sample other items. read more

Great Pastries; however, extremely slow food service. If you are planning on getting food at this location, don't come hungry and expect to​ be waiting for the long haul. I have tried them several times to see if the experience would change​, it did not. The average wait time can be around 40 minutes. My personal final straw was a 45 minute wait time for the breakfast meal and had to cancel instead. ​Did not get an apology or anything, they just quickly gave me my money back and I was on my way. Awful! Took 2 different people and even a phone call from their staff to put a cake order together. After 32 minutes my order was placed Their showcase was empty and they had no pictures for me to choose from. Showed them a picture from their own website and again no luck. Ordered this cake a year ago for a friend's birthday and it was absolutely delicious. The fruits were fresh and the cake was nice and moist. I did like that you could choose to have it on the drier side or moist. I ordered the cake 1 week in advance and while I was there, I asked how far in advance I would need to place an order for future orders and was told at least 1 day in advance which I found very convenient. Very clean white linoleum floor is the first thing that grabbed my attention. Not sure if it's new flooring or what - but it's very white. And the place is super well organized and it smells good, as most bakeries do. The point-of-sale sits about 50 feet inside the door and to the left so a whole lotta floor is what you see upon entry. I had an appointment next door at Geico and decided to stop in since this place has been on to-do for a minute. Stephanie helped me and was very pleasant. I wanted tamales and was kinda disappointed that they had no pork. So, I got two chicken to go and was on my way. They're pretty tasty. About 4" long; $2 each. The masa tastes scratch-made and they're cooked in a banana leaf which adds further to the authenticity/flavor. The chicken inside is shredded and seasoned well. My only gripe is a quarter on each end was meatless. The chicken only occupied the middle 50%...and it's positioned in strands vertically along the length making it pop out the moment a fork touches it. A chopped or finely chopped filling might make more sense. I personally prefer my tamale filling *inside* the masa, not as a side. Minor inconvenience for an otherwise tasty little tamale though. Looking forward to trying the tortas on my next visit. Cute li'l food find. read more

Fantastic! So glad I stopped by here on my way home. The space inside is extremely spaced out and clean. I was craving a sandwich or something if the like, and this place had great reviews for tortas, so in I went! I got the chicken torta, a tiramisu, and tres leches--all to go. The chicken torta was really good! One thing to note though, they make their tortas ahead of time, I'm assuming in the beginning of the day. There were several prepared tortas ready to just be put in the panini press to give it that perfect grill and crunch. I was happy to get it the way it was prepared, but if you plan to customize yours, I would call ahead to make sure they offer that option. I think they do this for efficiency, either way it didn't bother me and I was happy having a quick stop instead of waiting as I was ready to get home to devour my food ASAP. The tiramisu and tres leches were also pretty good and very generous slices of each. The tiramisu has very bold flavors, definitely worth a try! The tres leches was very creamy and milky. They have many different desserts, so I plan to try a different one the next time I'm there! read more

This place is AMAZING!!! The staff is bilingual, which helped me a lot because I only know a little bit of Spanish. The location is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Inside of the establishment, there are drinks, pastries, and snacks. The building itself is also pretty big, so nobody is on top of each other. There is plenty of space for everyone. I unintentionally waited last minute to order a ton of food (enough for 15) for an International Galantines event I was invited to attend. Not only was I impressed by the fact that they said yes to my order, but it was done on time, stayed hot throughout the 45 min drive, and tasted soooo delicious !!!! I ordered 12 chicken, and 12 cheese tamales; and 24 empanadas. My food was the first to disappear and the ladies kept mentioning how good it was! So grateful to have authentic food nearby. There was a little misunderstanding with the order, but the customer service was outstanding, as the young lady who took the order initially, explained to the baker exactly what I wanted, and boy oh boy did they deliver! The colors were exactly as the photo I had provided! The fruits on top were colorful and plentiful, and the blue banner with happy birthday written on it was perfect. Sabor Casero Bakery is a small Mexican bakery offering cookies, pastries, custom cakes, and hot tamales (pork and chicken). This is their second location, with their original location in Temple Hills. I tried their chicken tamale and a slice of their tres leches cake, topped with various fruits. The chicken tamale was piping hot, wrapped tightly in aluminum foil, with the masa filled generously with shredded chicken - this was pretty tasty. The tres leches cake? SUPER DELICIOUS!!! Probably one of the best tres leches I've had - this generous slice was wet and moist, delicious cream, and topped with a generous amount of glazed fruit slices (strawberries, peaches, kiwi, and cherries) - YUM! Friendly employee @ the counter advised only chicken tamales were available, so I asked for one. What was I thinking? I should have gotten @ least two. These little joys, were flavorful, creamy, melt in your mouth good! I also purchased a chicken torta. I ate 1/2 of it before making it to the MVA office (a short distance). I'll have to inquire about the ingredients, but I tell you, they all worked together, great balance of flavors! Got my wedding cake from here. Hands-down fantastic. The staff was very friendly, and when we called ahead to talk about wedding cakes they had a bunch of stuff to try, and were very flexible with our needs. For the record, we got a strawberry tres leches cake, with chocolate drizzled over the top. I had been looking around for a tres leches cake for my boyfriends 24th birthday party and came across Sabor Casero Bakery. I am so glad I went!! The cake was delicious and all of the guests enjoyed it! They are located right on route 5 in Waldorf just before Rita's on the same side. I walked in and no other customers were there but the store is big and the pastries and cakes looked beautiful!! The lady behind the counter was extremely nice and came out from behind the counter to help me pick the best cake. The cake that I purchased had white icing with half of the cake covered in fruits with a coconut side crumbing. I got the largest cake they had and it was $40 and it served about 25 people with a slice or 2 left (they have 2 more smaller sizes for about $20-25(?) and $30). I didn't get to take a picture of the cake because I was so busy hosting the party but just take my word for it and go visit this place! They have tres leches cakes with chocolate side crumbings, fruits covered all over the top, cakes without coconut shavings on the side, a strawberry glazed one and so much more) I'm not a cake person (unless it's ice cream cake) but I will definitely go back to this place for more! read more

We grew up in Tucson, so this place is like a little slice of home. The flan is good and the servings are huge. They have bottled Cokes with cane sugar, not high-fructose corn syrup. And while the tamales were just okay (the maza wasn't to my taste, is all), the tortas are amazing and perfectly toasted. Stopped by to check this place out last week. They had some pork tamales special. Bought three for $2 each. Ate them all so quickly in the car because they were so hot, delicious and seemed so authentic. They were made with a lot of beautifully lean, tender shredded pork in a perfectly seasoned chili paste wrapped in a piece of banana leaf then in foil prior to being steamed to. Perfection. They were so good that I told my son to go back into the store and asked for 5 more for our refrigerator. They were still great the next week for lunch at work with or without added salsa. They have now added flan to their pastry case. Now I'm there once a week almost for a few Slices of these perfectly baked caramel egg custard. read more

We got our wedding cake from here and it was perfect! It was beautiful, we asked for a beach themed cake and they got us a cake with seashells and on the top there was 2 starfish with a tux and dress on them. The flavor was out of this world!
