AMATEURS: We had them install counters in our basemen. They didn't finish the bottom of the cabinets with moldings. It looks unfinished. we told them we needed the job completed they ridiculously insisted that they went above and beyond by leveling them out. We refused to make full payment until they finished. I would give them a negative number or stars if I could. Read the other negative reviews and they will paint the picture for you. In essence they are over priced and their policy and payment procedures are unusual for the industry. They had to come out twice to give me an estimate because they made inadequate notes the first time. I had to call them several times to ask when I would get an estimate- nothing like begging for someone to do work for you. They price everything the most expensive way possible. I need two simple roll shades hung-they want $250! I had a closet door off the track so they wanted to replace the doors. Outrageous! Perhaps my horrible experience with them was a blessing. I found a wonderful company who really knows what customer care is all about and is clean and very knowledgeable about the work they do. They are also priced reasonably. No rating on this one, last week I had an appointment with this company between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. well they showed up at 9:50 a.m. typical...a person came out of his van and did not introduce himself or ask who I was but started telling me that my roof was done wrong and hoped that is why I wanted them to come to my home....said whoever did not my roof was not a roofer and the warranty does not stand up....very obnoxious, not pleasant at all. So I proceeded to tell him to leave my property and would not be doing business with him or the company and went in to call the company. Now the owner has resorted to outright lying about what was done and offered. Here is his first and only message to me, received 2 days ago: Ya, that crew we had from a few years back is no longer with us. We let them go and now they work for one of our competitors, not going to drop names, just saying they aren't with us any more. We run a much tighter ship now and have quality control in place so that things like this won't happen. This review really hurts us now, it's not who we are anymore and it's not the kind of work we do any more. Would you please consider remove the review? Is there anything i can do to make it up to you? Just to let you know, we no longer employee any foreman that doesn't have at least 10 years experience. We sent out review letters to our customers for quality control. We take before and after photos off all job which then have to be reviewed by the owner to make sure everything was done right. These are just a few of the things we have done to improve the quality of the job, the employees and the company. Please reconsider your review. And this was my response: Darrell, I appreciate your message but the facts are, that group did a terrible job. Until this day I still have one gutter line that is just hanging and a piece that wasn't secured to the rest of the gutter line. Partially my fault for not double checking those connections. Those pieces were not secured properly. I drive past your new location quite a bit and still upsets me. I am sorry but I cannot change or remove the review. It was truthful and honest for the work that was done at that time. And then he decided to post the various "untruths" below, like the refund of money, that never happened. Yes the job was done several years ago and yes we screwed up, but we also tried to do everything possible to fix it. We offered to send out a crew to go back and clean up. We gave him money back on the job for repairs, We emailed the customer several times to try and see what else we could do to make it up to him. We even fired the crew that did that job because of it. When I am out meeting customers I hear them complain about our competitors all the time saying, "Those guys screwed up. They didn't do what they were supposed to, They didn't finish the job", only to be followed with, "They didn't return my call. They never came back". I am really sorry to be writing this review. I thought these guys would at least come through in terms of showing up and giving me an estimate or at least telling me that they could not do the project. John came to the house within eight days of my calling which is understandable as most people are overworked these days who are working and said that he needed to have one of his cabinetmakers come in to look over the project. I waited a week I waited two weeks. No calls from them. Finally I called and the woman I spoke to apologized all over the place made some excuses about the cabinet maker not being available. I said that was fine but at least I should've been notified. She agreed and said I would be called... Nothing. I called again and spoke to possibly the same person. More excuses. More promises and apologies. Another week has gone by two weeks have gone by... No contact from these guys. Will I ever call them again? No. If they can't even call to say that they can't do the job or that they are too busy then forget about it. read more

Horrible experience. Honey Do Men have sent me a false invoice for services I never requested or received. When I refused to pay it they sent it to a debt collector. I tried resolving it by calling their office only to have a receptionist threaten me. I then wrote a letter to their owner to no avail. This is a warning not to engage with them as you risk being billed for services you did not ask for, threatened and sent to collection bureaus. When I explained to the collection bureau that the invoice was false the collection bureau responded that I should just pay it because it would be cheaper than hiring a lawyer. I pay all my bills promptly but will not be threatened into paying for something I didn't purchase. Horrible company! read more

We have a long standing relationship with Honey Do Men. All experiences with them have been very good. Each year, they clean our gutters in the Spring and in the Fall. Maybe three years ago, these people cleaned out my gutters and put in screens on my gutters. They also removed one of my down spouts and chose not to reconnect it to the underground system we have. I called and complained. They came back out, and discovered yesterday that they again did not connect the spout. In the meantime, because the rainwater accumulated around the spout, a wide area in the basement below the spout developed mildew, and to correct the problem we'll be spending about $3900. I Called to get an estimate on gutter cleaning. When I received the estimate all I could see was 3000.00. They took it apon themselves to add in things that they thought should be done, leaving a very high dollar amount in my mind. If I could give a zero I would. After 3 calls I finally got a return call, an appointment for a week later. The appointment was subsequently rescheduled for 4 business days later. He showed up late, walked around entering everything into his phone with do discussion. He was condescending and dismissive. When he felt he was satisfied he had all the information he needed he asked if I wanted the quote immediately and stated the sooner I agreed the faster the work could be done. We used HDM for a small job. The work quality was good but the estimate was outrageous considering the work they actually did. They said it would take 3 days and require a lot of work but they worked 2 half days and after I complained, only gave a nominal discount. My bad for not getting other estimates, it was an insurance job. The appraiser agreed with the work they said they would do but they did far less. Darrell & Honey Do Men have been to my house on many occasions. First time Hurricane Irene, the storm just started and an old style television antenna was swinging around like crazy and thought it would destroy my roof, I called and the OWNER Darrell came by I held the ladder and in the downpour he took it down. (Thing weighed a ton) Second time, roof leak from a previous roofing job done wrong, Darrell came out saw the previous contractor didn't seal around the ridge vent properly and remedied it right away and HONORED a $50 coupon they offered. Third time Hurricane Sandy damage to roof, INSURANCE Company placed blame on FUNGUS, then SQUIRRELS, then said it was defective tiles from the original roofer. Darrell went out of his way and got MY INSURANCE to pay for my NEW ROOF. All these other YELP comments sound phony! Darrell returned EVERY PHONE CALL!! I'm a United States Marine Corps veteran and I'm a Supervisor of Mechanics for the NYC Department Of Environmental Protection. I recently had my gutters cleaned by Honey Do Men. While they were up on my roof they notices some rot around some roof pipes. They sent me a picture and an estimate to repair the rot. Same issue as others. Charged $325 for about 15 minutes of work. Were suppose to remove gutter guards and clean gutters. I think the guy walked around my roof with a leaf blower for 15 minutes. Now a year later having other work done. You have to see the amount of moss being pulled from the gutters. Hired them to replace gutters on our home. Within 6 months they fell off because the wood we also paid to have them replace they never replaced. The also left scrap metal all over the place and cause two of my car tires to pop and need to have them replaced. We've had a fantastic experience with Honey-Do-Men for the past two years. Our first project when we moved into our new house last summer was to have Darrell's team put in new downspouts and clean our gutters. His team was professional and efficient, and really personable. They also came back immediately when we had a question and wanted a slight adjustment on one of the downspouts. This summer we had more substantial work done, with a team tearing out and replacing our crumbling driveway and building up some eroded areas of our property, installing retaining walls. They also did some interior work, replacing a warped ceiling beam and rebuilding a ceiling in one of our rooms. I cannot say enough about how happy we are with the quality of the work that has been done. We are thrilled! The teams are exceptionally professional, and take great pride in their work. Got their services as a gift. Contacted them to do a simple installation that any handyman can do. I truly thought this service will be superior from others, as stated on their website. Had the estimator over virtually immediately. He determined that job was easy and will be done in no time. He informed me that once he submits his report on Monday to the office, he'll be in touch with me to set up the appointment for the actual job. After waiting for a week, I called the "office" and spoke with the girl who made my original appointment with the estimator. I tried to use them once and they just did a fine job on light carpentry work. Workers were nice and polite. It's so hard to find fair priced high quality contractors in this neighborhood.
