I have a large collection of honeys. Most of them I use in a raw uncooked preparation (I.e. cheese plate, dressings). As my more economic everyday honey for jar-to-mouth, cooking and baking purposes, Honey Pacifica is it. It's a trusted name in the raw honey world. There are so many brands on the shelves today some of which are questionable. I heard about Honey Pacifica years ago when a chef friend told me that Wolfgang Puck only sourced his raw honey from this small producer. Naturally I went out and bought some. I've been buying a variety of their honeys ever since. You can find them at WholeFoods in the honey section (this is where I purchase), directly from their website and storefront in Long Beach, Ca, and at many of SoCal farmers markets. I use the Buckwheat honey regularly and for all you self proclaimed coffee aficionados out there skip to the following paragraph now...'cause I love their buckwheat honey in coffee with some cream on the weekends! Love the flavor it produces and the types of sweetness it lends. Typically flavored honeys don't interest me but I've found their Creamy Lemon Honey to be so versatile and delicious. I mix this into Fage 0% Fat Free Greek yogurt....it's better than anything you'll find on the shelves for flavored yogurts. It makes a great sweetened mint iced tea, dressing for salad (olive oil, oregano white balsamic vinegar, creamy lemon honey), and various smoothies. The lemony flavor shines through best in a non-cooked application Also I love their Avocado honey. Like wines, honey producers have good years and bad years affected by Mother Nature. 4 or 5 years ago they had an unbelievable batch of Avocado honey which is how I fell in love with it in the first place. I still actually have one jar left from that years harvest. My prized honey possession! However, I recently purchase a couple new jars of their avocado honey with the darkest color I've ever seen for avocado honey...haven't tried it yet. On their website you can purchase some of their honeys in a 6 or 12 pound quantity. You can save a lot by purchasing these in large sizes. When baking I try to substitute most recipes that call for granulated sugars with honey. For baking the rule of thumb is: use 3/4 cup honey for every 1 cup of white sugar. Also reduce other liquids in the recipe by 1/2 cup for every 1 cup of honey added. Decrease oven temp by 25 degrees. For the most part this works but it always depends on what your expectations are for the final results. Regardless, honey adds a lot of moisture to baked goods so reducing your liquid within a recipe is necessary. read more

My 26th review, and my FIRST 5-star rating. Enough said?! Ever since I found these guys 1.5 years ago, I haven't gone elsewhere for my honey. I used the small sample jars for my baby shower gifts, given 12-16oz jars for gifts and use it myself all the time. I have bad allergies, and when I take the raw honey it gives ME some relief. The quality is superb, and they offer a wide wide variety of raw unheated honey that provide far greater nutritional value. Most jars are glass, but they do offer 12 oz plastic squeeze bottles which is convenient. In the physical Long Beach store, they also have these huge containers (60-72 oz) available. I've also purchased beeswax from there and I know they offer some variety of cosmetics. They attend many farmers markets, and you can find the list on their website under "where to buy/farmers markets". I actually just found out that if you purchase from their physical LB store, you also get an additional 8% discount! Love love love it. Their customer service? Adore. I'm an email kind of person, so I really appreciate fast replies. I've dealt with Danny over there numerous times, and he's been sooooo soooo great. Their physical store closes at 4:30pm, but he was willing to wait for me until I could make it around 5:15pm. There's no grumpy attitude of leaving late, he greets me with a smile and genuine friendliness. Even let me taste test some new flavors. Busy as a bee! I can see why bees never get sick. It's because of the awesome by- products Honey Pacifica has harvested from the bees to give to us customers for long life and health. I recently went to the Farmer Market in Torrance, because my wife was getting allergies from pollen season. I hear that pollen season is going to be particularly bad this year because of the dry winds and such. They collect their honey from different sites around Long Beach, Seal Beach, and Rancho Palos Verdes. I picked up the Coastal California Wildflower Variety, which they said they harvest from Rancho Palos Verdes. We both tried this honey and instantly feel in love. It is def all natural and raw. Not sure why it seems all store-bought honeys have been micro-filtered to the point that you not only cant tell where the honey came from -- but if, in fact, its even real honey. East Long Beach's new Farmers Market introduced this company to me. Since that time, I have enjoyed fresh, unfiltered local honeys and beeswax candles. Went to pick up my 6lbs of honey today, as well as my propolis and bee pollen. The ladies there in the office were so helpful as I did not have my order information. They took time to find my order and get it ready. I also took my 3yo w me, who of course wanted to touch everything. The lady helping me, forgive me for forgetting your name, was super sweet.
