Visited Honey Pearl Cafe for a quick refreshment after visiting Powell's and we were satisfied with our boba drinks from Honey Pearl Cafe. The menu has a good variety of drink options including some seasonal drinks. My friend ordered the Lavender Sunset with 50% sweetness with crystal boba. I ordered the Lemon Burst with 75% sweetness & crystal boba. The Lavender Sunset was more tangy than expected, but still enjoyable. I thought the Lemon Burst was refreshing and had a nice balance of strawberry and citrus flavors. The cafe is cute with some kawaii style decor and has a good amount of seating. Pricing for each of our drinks was $6.95 before tip. Customer service was kind and pleasant. Overall, a great and convenient boba shop for a quick refreshment.

Looking for a sweet drink after dinner in downtown Portland, we came across Honey Pearl Cafe, a medium sized boba establishment with plenty of interesting looking drinks. As with more modern, higher quality shops, they steer away from powdered creamers and instead use lactose-full condensed and whole milks for their drinks. We ordered one drink to start: Honey Jasmine Blossom, 75% Sweet w/ Boba ($6.95) - Drinks come in a single size only, in a cup that would be considered a regular or small size at other establishments. 50% sweet is the lowest sugar level they offer, so I was a bit confused and asked the bobarista about it. He said that their sweetness levels are on the lower side, so if I normally get 50% at other shops, I should get 75% here. After sipping on my drink, I can say that 75% is very similar to 75% at other shops, so it's a bit too sweet for me. I would definitely only get 50% in any future visit. The flavor of this drink is interesting. It has a floral essence enhanced with a tiny bit of fruity-like flavor with some honey elements. I wouldn't say the taste is exactly jasmine tea though. I think they perhaps use jasmine syrup and add it to green tea rather than brewing jasmine tea? The drink uses condensed milk to thicken things up - and it works wonderfully, creating a rich drink with a lot of body, yet not giving an overwhelming milky flavor as I've seen some other shops do. The ice level can't be adjusted. It's a little too much so there's extra leftover ice after finishing the drink. Now the boba served at Honey Pearl Cafe I found to be a bit too small and firm for my tastes, which degrades the bouncy chew somewhat. They aren't chalky at all and are clearly cooked through with a somewhat sticky exterior indicative of a good sweetener soak, but just firmer than I like. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 3.5/5 I love all these new independent, locally owned boba shops opening up in Portland! It's a totally different atmosphere from the mostly large corporate international chains that are so prevalent around where I live in Seattle. While I don't think Honey Pearl Cafe serves top tier boba drinks, I can definitely appreciate them being easily available in downtown Portland and I would consider visiting again in future trips to the city.

Got the flight, liked them all except the coffee one but it's cause I don't drink coffee normally. Would be nice to be able to change to different flavors, but the ones they chose were different. It was a good way for new people to try new flavors but also new types of tapioca. Not overly sweet. Good portion size. Price as expected. Cute seating area, small tables, long tables, no large tables. Service was quick and easy. Tapioca was fresh and very good consistency. Great place, will be back in future! Happy drinking!

I saw this place on TikTok especially for their boba flight and boy they did not disappoint. They had two options and we got Option #1. My husband and I shared it and it was a perfect amount. The staff was great, inside was super clean and had nice vibes to it. Definitely recommend!

I'm always looking for cool, local boba spots when I travel and Honey Pearl fit the bill perfectly! I was wandering around downtown Portland when I stumbled across the shop so great location. I don't see many boba shops that use honey as a sweetener so of course I had to try the Honey Bee - their take on classic black milk tea with honey and condensed milk. So good! If I had more time I would've gone with the boba flight so I could've tried more, definitely a genius idea!

I'll give it a 5 star just for the creativity of the tea flight. We got both versions of the flight and they were both great. I thought the guy explaining the flight really knew his s**t and overall a great experience.

They have a limited menu here but what we tried were delicious! - Honey Buzz -- yummy rich coffee goes well with regular boba - Honey Jasmine Blossom -- very strong floral jasmine flavor, so make sure that's up your alley! Recommend getting this one 50% sweet. Would totally drop by here again. They have onigiri which is one of my favorite snacks!

If you are eating in, they ask you to request a plate to reduce single use waste.

Came for the boba/smoothie flight (no modifications allowed, but they removed coffee jelly that I wouldn't eat). I enjoyed the drinks and the ambiance. The music was upbeat and fun. The staff were friendly and kind. They were awesome and made it a comfortable space to be in. Five stars for the staff. He suggested starting with the Mango-berry Breeze (milk, strawberry, mango). It was sweet like a dessert with a good balance of creamy and fruity. It's a blended drink with ice slush in it which was refreshing. Personally, I don't like mixing slush with boba. My mouth either wants slush crunch or boba bounce. Lavender Sunset with Lychee Jelly- wow, I enjoyed experiencing new flavor mixture. I don't think I would order a whole glass, but it made the flight a fun drink adventure. The green tea is jasmine and has a strong floral tone. The lemon balances out the strong floral notes well. The butterfly pea tea colors it beautifully (it has a mild flavor which is lost under the jasmine- it's the back up dancer, not the one at the microphone). Sweet Bea- their classic milk tea with black tea and condensed milk. You can taste the tea and it's sweet, but not too sweet. (I didn't eat the coffee jelly since I'm not a coffee person, but I imagine the flavor goes well). Strawberry Dream- green tea, milk, strawberry, condensed milk. The sweetness is the main flavor with strawberry and tea secondary flavors. It was pleasant, but I didn't find it memorable. The boba were softly chewy while still having structure. I loved them. Again, I had a lot of fun with the flight and recommended it was a way to try a variety of drinks and get to know the cafe. My usual favorite bubble tea is a tropical fruit/peach black/oolong tea with boba. So, I got the peachy lychee to go. It was good but doesn't top my favorite in the city. 4 out of 5 stars Pro tip- if you have a metal boba straw, bring it, instead of using four half straws for the flight to reduce plastic waste. I regret I didn't bring mine. They sell them at the register for $6 if you want one. The bench seats are hard and uncomfortable if you have a back injury. The white plastic chairs accommodate large hips and bums (high five to HPC for being inclusive). I don't find the back very supportive though. You have to sit at a weird slightly reclined angle to use the back support. The futon couch was okay, but I wouldn't sit here to read for an hour. I give the seating 3.5 stars. Sufficient for 30 min. I got a rewards punch card (buy 9, 10th free). The flight doesn't count for the punches which didn't make sense to me since it was $13 and most bubble teas are $7. Maybe there's a narrow margin on the flight?

We went here for the BTS event. Buy any drink and get a cup sleeve. BTS accessories were being sold at a table by the door. We ordered a Honey Jasmine blossom milk tea and a Peachy Lychee iced tea. Allen the drinks come with one free topping...boba or jelly. And a Rice Ball flight...tuna, salmon and cheese corn. It was a good size to share with friends. The drinks came out and it was delicious. This venue is small. About 5 tables and window seating. Granted we are on 12th Street in downtown. Right by Bamboo Sushi. So ..get an appetizer before lunch or get a pick me up after lunch. We have Mcmenamins and Jake's across the street also. Plenty of good food everywhere you turn.

[ food ]: 10/10 - Yuzu Tuna Onigiri ~ Furikake Rice was nice consistency and was flavorful, the yuzu brought a nice depth of flavor with the tuna but wasn't overpowering - Salmon Onigiri ~ I enjoyed this one as much as the yuzu tuna onigiri and tasted like there was a little yuzu in this as well which balanced the salmon as well. - Cheese Corn ~ The cheese corn onigiri was really simple, yet flavorful. Really good choice for individuals that can't tolerate fishiness. [ drinks ]: 10/10 - The boba flight is such a cute concept and all of the options were so yummy and is a great option for indecisive people like myself! [ service ]: - The employees were really fun, accommodating, and kept the environment lively. [ ambience ]: 10/10 - Honey Pearl Cafe has a very modern but cozy atmosphere. I appreciate the music that they play in the shop and appears to be on top of the cleanliness. There are even some card games provided by the shop for people to play while they enjoy their drinks!

Honey Pearl Cafe PDX is a new spot just south of the Pearl District in North Downtown. On my first visit, I tried the Sweet Bee milk tea and the rice bowl flights. I typically avoid overly sweet bubble teas and usually order them with 25% or even 0% sweetness. At Honey Pearl, they only offer a minimum of 50% sweetness, as they use fresh tea instead of tea powder, which they explained isn't as sweet to begin with. I was a bit hesitant, especially since the Sweet Bee includes condensed milk and honey, but I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the milk tea was fantastic. The tea flavor was distinct, with a pleasant aroma, and the sweetness level was just right--satisfying without being overwhelming. The boba was soft and nicely chewy, which made for a great overall experience. As for the rice bowls, they were enjoyable, though the amount of filling was a bit light compared to the rice. This was particularly noticeable with the cheese corn, which had a milder taste. The cafe itself has a modern and clean interior, making it a nice place to hang out. The staff were very helpful, guiding me through their offerings and helping me pick something I'd enjoy.

I went here twice because I wanted a drink AND onigiri. But the rice wasn't ready. So I got a drink then came back 15 min later again. I got a Peachy Lychee tea ($6.95USD), Creamh Yuzu Tuna onigiri ($3.85USD) and Sweet Salmon onigiri ($4.75USD). The tea was absolutely delicious, I could see myself drinking it every day. Especially with boba. As for the onigiri, I didn't think they were worth the price. The rice was very plain and overpowered the small about of filling that the onigiri had. Staff were great and the menu was vast. I would highly recommended this spot for bubble tea and iced teas.

Honey Pearl Tea is a good new tea shop in downtown Portland. The interior is modernistic. The barista working the day that I went was friendly. The names of the drinks are unique and there is a lot of creativity in them. I got the sweet mango which consisted of mango green tea with a bit of condensed milk in it and coconut cold foam. I also added lychee jelly to the drink. The drink was good. The coconut and mango play well together. The cold foam makes it very refreshing. There was too much ice in the drink so I will ask for less ice next time. Honey Pearl Tea is a good place for a fun drink.

I ended up ordering the Ice Green Tea with no sugar, just plain tea and ice. I don't know if there's cross contamination, or just being super over brewed, but the Jasmine Tea ( the green tea they use) was very very tart. I lean more toward tea quality for my boba drinks, so if you're like me, I wouldn't recommend this place if my visit is representative of their brewing capabilities. It looks like they have plenty of really sweet Milk Tea options for those who lean more toward that area though.
