STAY AWAY - This review is about the school administration/ownership, not the teachers or staff…read more This place has completely fallen apart under the new administration. If you're considering this Montessori school, run the other way -- especially if you're expecting something remotely resembling Montessori philosophy. The owner (Priya) herself admitted, "This isn't a real Montessori school. It's just the name." That sums it up: pure false advertising. Let me be clear: the teachers we interacted with were lovely and hardworking -- when they were still around. But thanks to horrible management, staff morale is rock bottom, and the teacher turnover is insane. We saw incredible educators come and go faster than you can blink. Most of the original team was fired, including the PE teacher, who was replaced by... a TV playing exercise videos for toddlers. I'm not joking. They've raised tuition, added charges for early and late drop-offs (so yes, they charge you for "not" taking care of your kid), and what do you get in return? A mess. Want to participate in Thanksgiving or cultural celebrations? Great -- you'll be told to bring the food, but then you're not allowed to join the kids. Just drop off your dish and go. Our child was held back in the younger classroom due to "staffing issues" even though developmentally ready to move up. We were told the academic teaching will be the same there wasn't enough room in the upper class. And the favoritism is real. At graduation, they refused to let our child walk with their peers even though she had reached the right age and was transitioning to TK. Meanwhile, a younger child (yes, younger than ours) was allowed to graduate and walk -- because clearly, they pick and choose who gets what experience based on who they like. Absolutely heartbreaking and unfair. Communication with the administration is a joke. They scheduled a parent-teacher conference, and when we showed up -- no one was there. Not even an apology. They never answer calls, and if you try to reach Priya, good luck -- we had to physically show up to the school multiple times just to talk to her. Then there's the sunblock incident. They failed to apply our child's labeled sunblock and when we raised concern, they said we never brought any. We showed up and -- surprise! -- the bottle with our child's name was sitting right there. I was even called a "bad mom" by the administrator for dropping my child off late. What kind of professional school says that to a parent? The worst part: our child had an accident at school -- fell and cut her lip. We were told there was "no blood." At pickup, there was clearly dried blood. Took her to the ER and found out she had a 1cm cut that could've needed stitches. We were never given an incident report, just vague phone calls with no documentation. Completely unacceptable and dangerous. When we gave notice, they refused to return our deposit -- said we needed to "prove we paid it," even though paying the deposit was a requirement to enroll. Complete scam behavior. They also refused to disable our auto-payment on the Brightwheel app during our final month. Priya told us to "reach out to the app," but Brightwheel clearly told us that only the school has the authority to remove the charge. They just didn't want to do it. The graduation ceremony itself? A joke. No refreshments for families (unlike the year before), and they invited a guest speaker wearing inappropriate, revealing clothing to speak to the whole school full of toddlers, preschoolers and parents. Completely tone-deaf and unprofessional. We deeply regret sending our child here. It's not the same school it used to be. The leadership has turned it into a chaotic, unprofessional, unsafe, and unkind environment -- and the kids are paying the price. Again: this review is directed at the school's ownership and administration, not the exhausted and underappreciated teachers doing their best despite a toxic situation.

The emphasis on their learning has been amazing to see and will prepare them for the next steps in their educational journey. Priya and her teachers (Ms. Theresa in particular) have been great to work with and care for the kids as if they are their own. They upload pictures throughout the day, so that when the kids say they did nothing, I can ask them about the pony they rode earlier in the day because of the pictures. Throughout the summer the kids days have been filled with tons of fun activities that leave them gleaming at the end of each day (pool day, pony rides, reptile day, etc. ) I have seen some of the negative remarks as of late and must disagree with a lot of those opinions, from my perspective. These negative remarks seem retaliatory in their nature (who leaves their kids with people they don't trust). I find it refreshing that there are events for the kids in which parents are not allowed. This is important for their social development, and it is reassuring to know that parents are not welcomed in the space where my kids are present without parental consent. This is not to say that there are no events with parents, but those are scheduled far in advance so that all can attend. Priya has been transparent about everything since day one and we feel the schooling is affordable in comparison to some programs that are just day cares.

The reason we had to transfer our son from his previous program was there was no actual program, it was all play, no foundation for learning, & he just ends up exhausted from the 'play-time' that he was getting. We transitioned him without hesitation & with the help of Ms. Prema & her staff, they saw the potential & weakness of my son, they started him with an individualized plan to make him a better student. He has progressed dramatically since he begun with Reading, Math, Homework, & advanced study to prepare him better. They are very patient & always communicate with us in every step of the way. School year just ended, my sons teacher saw the tremendous improvement over-all with his skills & his learning habits, and we give a big portion of credit to Ms. Prema & her team! We are grateful & satisfied with the patience, hard-work, & dedication of her team! Also, one of the positive side is they offer to pick-up your child from school to the montessori, which is a huge plus so we don't have to worry about getting to one place to the other. We highly recommend this place as it gives children a good balance of learning, study, play, & improvement of the child over all.

My daughter she's 3 year old she's being assets at the Artesia preschool development center and got her iep. She has been working with harbor regional center. She didn't qualify for the school so instead she's being put on the waiting list at the state preschool. At that time I was looking around to see what's best for her since she needs extra help in everything. She's delayed in a lot of things especially in speech wise. I found Lakewood Montessori had a tour with miss Jazmin at first she's good then she got offended that I texted too much about my daughter concern. She sent pictures to me which I like about my daughter doing. I reply back and said she knows how. :) she keep saying I text to much. Then my daughter kept getting sick so I inform them. Then she complain I text too much and worry too much. (Well no shit she's my child and she got Covid) Then last week she texted my husband because he came to the school with me to pick my daughter up. She then talk shit to my husband and said I need to stop worry and concern. Well of course my daughter has a delay learning and doesn't know how to feed herself and do a lot of things herself. You're a professional teacher but not professional enough to teach kids that need the extra help. She told me use the pictures I sent to see if my daughter knows the name of her friends. Well I did that she don't know the names of her friends. They're very expensive potty training I paid $150 and they're not doing anything at all. The school itself cost around $1100. Plus material fees and pizza party. Omg they even charge for pizza LOLOL I don't think I will be taking my daughter here anymore as you can see. Is already drama miss Jazmin causing drama to my family while my husband is busy working and she act like he cares. At a public school if the parents is concerned about their child education the teachers are more professional when a parent is asking question. This school is not professional enough every time I asked both Ms Jazmin and Ms erash they tell me not to worry and my daughter is fine. I also asked them what she learn today because my daughter is still speech delay. They don't tell me. Save the trouble if you want better education and teacher for your child, especially kids that need more help this school is not it. Parents can't even ask questions they get annoyed. public school abc school district is totally different. Edit: thank you for giving the refund back to us but my review still stands because this school is not specialized enough to kids who needs the special help. They might have over 25 years of experienced but not experienced enough in other criteria. Thank you for teaching my daughter for about one month she did learn a lot until I wanted to see how's she doing everyday. My parents when I was in school, they also asked the teachers how her child was doing. It's normal to ask and concern. And this school does not potty train they will charge $150 but they won't potty trained your kids.

With my first child starting school, I was so nervous. My daughter is very attached to us and she would cry at drop off for a good month. Ms. Jasmine reassured me that they are very used to and understanding of this and it doesn't matter if it takes 2 months, they will work with her. They eased my daughter into everything at her pace. Even with potty training, they did not make me feel that she had to be potty trained at 2 years old. When we all agreed my daughter was ready, they helped us and had my daughter potty trained in one week. I am so grateful for that. My biggest concern was making sure my daughter was loved, cared for and felt safe. And I have no concerns about that with Ms. Jasmine and Ms. Eresh. On top of that, the learning and her growth in writing, math, reading was beyond what I could have imagined. I am so impressed and pleased. My youngest joined the class a few months ago and they helped us with the sibling transition. Again, they work with my youngest at her pace. She loves reading, singing and dancing with them. We are forever grateful.

I reiterate: My husband and I could not be happier with our experience at this Montessori daycare. From the moment we walked in, we felt warmth, calm, and genuine care. The classrooms are beautifully prepared, inviting, and thoughtfully designed to encourage independence and curiosity. The teachers are beyond amazing -- patient, attentive, and deeply respectful of each child as an individual. They truly embody the Montessori philosophy, guiding rather than directing, and nurturing confidence, focus, and a love of learning. It has been incredible to watch our child grow in independence, communication skills, and self-esteem in such a short time. We especially appreciate how the program fosters practical life skills, kindness, and problem-solving. Our child comes home excited to share what they learned and proudly demonstrates new skills every week. Communication with parents is excellent, and we always feel informed and included. The sense of community here is something special -- it feels like an extension of our family. Our kiddo had a hard time transitioning (he started at age 2) however the teachers were super supportive and kind to all three of us. We stayed 2 years at LiMai and I will definitely be returning if we are blessed with another baby. Our kiddo went from us thinking he had a delay with speech to being a chatterbox in one month! When he transitioned to the older kid class, his teachers were also phenomenal here! Ms. Dianna and Ms. Rehka are so kind and treat every kid like their own. My kiddo looked forward to going to school because he felt so comfortable in his class. Overall, LiMai is a great investment, for many reasons. I always felt safety and our children's privacy was the upmost importance. I also felt like there was huge difference in our child's academic ability compared to other kids his age and also noticed how he began picking up healthy habits such as wanting to be more involved and helpful at home. Definitely a very great way to build some important foundational skills.

This school goes above and beyond to provide appropriate, individualized care for every child. They offer every opportunity for children to receive high quality learning experiences and diverse cultures. Their teachers are also incredibly knowledgable about child development which is surprisingly rare among preschools. My son has been attending since early 2022, and he has grown in so many ways! We are a primarily English and Vietnamese speaking home, so it has been really cool to watch him also learn and utilize Spanish on a regular basis due to his education at BESA. He also has a strong desire to learn to read, and his gross motor skills have come such a long way because of the daily opportunities he gets to run outside and play with peers! He also used to be a very picky eater, but since attending BESA he has begun to expand his palate and will try just about anything. He has also cultivated a love and appreciation for animals and nature itself, I believe due to his time in and around the school garden and its bunnies. During apple season, he would come home almost every day with an apple from the tree in their play yard. Green apples are now his absolute favorite fruit! BESA does accept subsidized care which has been a godsend. I thought because I could not afford preschool on my own, my son's educational opportunities would be limited. Not only has my son learned and grown so much (showing off the yoga, Spanish, math, and letters he learns daily), but BESA has also championed ME as a mom and human being! Their support has encouraged and allowed me to return to school and work which has given our family the chance it deserves to grow as a whole. Finally (though I could go on and on), I am grateful for their support of my family's unique parenting experience. My son's dad lives out of state, and we include bonus mama in our parenting decisions. BESA has gone above and beyond to make all three of us feel like equal partners in our son's education and development. They have been responsive and supportive each time we hit a behavioral challenge with our son, and they have been great with ensuring we are all involved and informed with their next steps as well as genuinely asking how they can support practices we already have at home. BESA really does intentionally hit all the parts of their name. High quality bilingual education, appreciation and cultivation of environmental science, intentional incorporation of all the arts (dance, music, visual, etc), which have supported academic development and absolute thriving socioemotional growth. Grateful to BESA in so many ways. If you're considering attending or getting on the waitlist, do NOT wait. Best early education decision I could have made for our family was attending BESA!

When we did the initial walk through at MGH, we informed Michelle of my son's frustration and…read morebehavior issues and asked her how they would address this at school, she confidently told me she would take him outside to diffuse him. We also had numerous formal and informal meetings with Christine and Karinna, who always said they wanted to work with us. We were told we had to get outside help from a doctor, and when we told them it would take a while to see results (per the psychologist), they reiterated they were willing to help. After being called to be picked up after an hour of class on his 4th full day of school, I spoke with Christine and she told me what happened. I also called the director, Heather, to discuss our options. Christine didn't mention anything about Simon not being allowed to attend school anymore without extra help provided by his family, nor did Heather. On Tuesday morning, I sent Heather an email with tips of how to diffuse my son, thinking the teachers could use it as a guideline in helping to steer him in the right direction. Twenty minutes prior to school starting, she called to tell me that it wasn't possible for my son to get any more one on one from the teachers and since our nanny couldn't be at the school until 10am, the staff felt they weren't safe with my son in class without the help. Why Heather didn't call me Monday or even earlier Tuesday morning to let me know he was not able to attend that day still baffles me. Heather said she was waiting to talk to me at the site, but that would have only resulted in her turning us away as I had my daughter with me that morning and wouldn't have been able to stay to help.  I got my so ready that morning, we packed his lunch together, and I gave him the pep talk about Karinna not being in class, but got him excited for music class that day. If I wouldn't have sent that email, Heather wouldn't have called at all and we would have arrived at the school only for her to have told us the news in front of my son. How do you think he would have felt about that? I'm surprised that the director of a place that regards itself as fostering confidence in young children would reject a child to their face. The website states, "studies prove that the relationship between a caretaker and a child is more secure when it's longer. It supports the social and emotional development of a child. Whereas, frequent change in approach or caretakers can cause suffering and early depression in children." Heather and her staff gave my son one full day the first week and three full days the second week, calling us to pick him up on what would have been his fifth day at MGH.  If the email I had sent Tuesday morning were suggestions from an actual psychologist, would they have called to tell me you couldn't give him one on one attention to implement the strategies from a doctor? The meeting on Friday with the teachers suggested otherwise, as we were told they were ready to work with whatever care we found once an assessment was made. Christine informed me that she would have to call to have my son picked up from school if the kids felt unsafe. According to her, this happened for the first time on Monday even though he was called to be picked up three prior days of school. No one informed me he wouldn't be able to return without my nanny or a parent in the classroom after this one incident of him kicking in the direction of a child. I was under the impression that we would have to come get him if it happened again, but not that he couldn't return. The first I heard of this was twenty minutes before the start of class on Tuesday. I was caught of guard and it was very unprofessional. I am so glad this did not end up happening in front of my four year old son, as the director originally intended. I understand my so was not easy and required a lot of one on one. He has never been in anything full time all day. He has never been in a Montessori setting. I believe he was not given a fair chance to succeed. He was not even given an entire week. The MHG program is more geared toward families with Montessori backgrounds, with kids that are ready to do their work without much assistance. This should have been conveyed to us before we signed on, as we were open about his past behavior and experience. I hope in the future you are up front with parents regarding any children that may have special needs or behavioral problems.

From the start, I knew exactly what I was looking for in a preschool. I had previously worked in preschools and in admissions at a Pre-K through 8th grade private school in Saratoga, I had strong opinions about what kind of environment I wanted for my own children. My top priorities were: strong leadership, small class ratios, and teacher retention. When I toured Stepping Stones, I knew immediately that this was the right place. Ms. Jenny, the Assistant Director, is fantastic--bubbly, professional, and genuinely invested. Whether she's greeting families at the door, supporting teachers in the classroom, decorating, or prepping for the next event, she's fully present and hands-on. Her leadership sets the tone for the whole school, creating a warm, welcoming, and well-run environment. One of my favorite things about the program is the 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio in both the 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes. It's not a model where one teacher manages a large group with just an aide--it's truly one teacher to twelve students. The classrooms are designed for this more intimate setting, which allows teachers to get to know their students deeply. (Bonus: you only have to buy 12 party favors instead of 24! ) Teacher retention is another strong point. You can tell the staff love working here. Former teachers and substitutes often return, and there's a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. I frequently saw teachers sharing ideas, helping one another, and going above and beyond to support their students and colleagues. Communication with the school is also seamless, thanks to the Learning Management System they use. Teachers and staff regularly post photos, share weekly updates, and send messages through it, which keeps parents in the loop in such a meaningful way. I also want to give special thanks to two teachers who made a big impact on our family: Ms. Karina has a warm and calming presence that made a world of difference for my son, especially during a time of big changes at home. He was still adjusting to having a new sibling, and mornings could be tough and emotional. Ms. Karina met him each day with such patience and gentle reassurance--her kind words, soft tone, and steady presence helped him feel safe and understood. She provided the comfort and consistency he needed, making his transition into the classroom so much smoother. We're incredibly grateful for the care and support she offered during that tender time. Ms. Nayeli helped provide him with the independence he needed to gain confidence in himself. Her encouragement, structure, and thoughtful approach created an environment for him to explore, take initiative, and thrive. If you're considering Stepping Stones, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The leadership, classroom structure, and loving teachers make it a truly special place.
