First of all, I created a yelp account to review this awesome bar. Was just in here earlier tonight (wednesday) for open mic night, it was incredibly sweet. The atmosphere homey, inspiring and uplifting. The multiple musicians and poets were just amazing. Beyond that was the bartender. I believe his name was Alex and he was just fantastic. Here's the deal with this place: If you hate dry wine and love sweet, fruity type wines, you'll definitely dig this place. Perhaps it's unfair that I only give this place 2 stars since it's more of a reflection of my taste in wines to the actual goodness of Honeymoon Mead. With it's brick walls and quaint atmosphere, it's a nice place to meet people and as long as there's no band playing, it's a great place to have a conversation. There's quite a selection of wine accompanying foods as well as a good selection of wines...as long as you like sweet wines of course. I should add that they do have a couple traditional whites and reds to pick from so I wasn't completely unsatisfied. Honeymoon Mead is indeed a nice wine bar...just not for me. read more

The mead here is delicious and the Irish night definitely delivered. Prices are good. Food was tasty-although note that they don't really have "meal" options but more like appetizers and such. The space is small but chill and their artwork is so gorgeous! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of Honeymoon Mead. I'm not a big drinker, but occasionally I enjoy a good cider, and this is the place to go in Bellingham for that. The quintessential hole in the wall wine bar. A typical Bellingham local haunt - the type you wouldn't know was there unless you knew where to look. Quaint Bellingham style that serves all different types of Mead. Not alot of food options, but a nice quiet atmosphere off the back alley of the Herald building. I hit up Honeymoon regularly, especially when they have great events. You can also usually pick up a bottle of mead or cider at the downtime farmers market! Besides the delicious mead, try their cheese plates! They also typically have some great sweet treats. read more

Super cozy feel to this place! Very small food selection but the warm Brie with roasted garlic on top was amazing. Didn't try the mead but had one of their two beers on tap and loved it. Also had live music going which was cool and added to the atmosphere. read more

This place is probably the classiest place in town but I feel very left out because everybody's drinking alcohol and I have a condition that prevents me (not gonna go into that LOL) I went to the bartender and said (to him) "hey do you have any nonalcoholic stuff(juice, sparkling Italian soda etc) "and all you could give me was water well buddy you think I want that?? why do you think I want no flavors here I am didn't liking the alcohol but to say that I can't deal with this any sort of flavor ?? so anyway I like the atmosphere I'm in a get this playce for the five stars read more

This is a hidden gem! I only lived in Bellingham for a summer and honeymoon was a frequent stop for me. The mead (raspberry is my favorite) paired with their delicious desserts never failed! It's also nestled into a cute area of the town. Take some friends and enjoy! read more

Honeymoon Mead - Great atmosphere! - Meaderies Near Me - Bellingham, Washington

Honeymoon has entertained me a few times through one of their "Story Slams" or other random acts of entertainment. Frankly, I can't wait to go back. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy, to the extent that you kind of feel like you're at a friend's house who happens to be enthusiastic about home-brewing and you're not really sure if you're dreaming or how you got there, but it doesn't matter because there is mead in your glass and a smile on your face and everything else in the world can wait. Unfortunately, there is the reality that you actually have to pay for that and prices are higher than I expected for the quantity served. That being said, I don't know of any other meadery in existence, so I'm guessing that you get what you pay for. I do appreciate that the bartenders are not pushy if you just want to attend an event and not drink a lot and they seem to be pretty chill if you bring a snack from home - they do have a pretty limited food selection. read more

I run by their outdoor patio all the time on my to the interurban from my work, always staring longingly at the happy people enjoying the sunshine with large glasses of mead in varying hues... Two weekends ago I FINALLY was able to come in and see what I'd been missing. A lot. On the bartenders rec, me and my happy-hour partner each got the rhubarb mead. It was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness, hint of rhubarb, and a mouthfeel that made the whole experience seem much more decadent than just a glass of wine. The patio was the perfect place to be on that sunny late-afternoon, and it was happy-hour so $1 off each (already reasonably priced) glass. I can't speak to any of their other menu items, but I'm officially a fan of their mead. I have been craving it so much that I just went to the Market on Lakeway where they have a few different bottles, and bought two. They also have it at one of my favorite restaurants in town (Bayou) so that right there is an endorsement. read more

We happened to be in town visiting friends, so we stopped by to hear a local Irish band play (Gallowglass) and enjoy some absolutely exquisite mead. You have to try the barrel-aged reserve mead - it is seriously tasty. I wish I had a place like this in Seattle! A tip: if you're coming to listen to a band, get there at least half an hour early if you want a table. The place is tiny, and it filled up quick while we were there! read more

Tucked away in the alley behind State street, the Honey Moon is the best (and only) place in town to experience excellent varieties of mead. The Lover's Mead is excellent. As are the blueberry and rhubarb meads. My favorite is to get a Cyser (part cider and mead) with rhubarb. Their wines are also full bodied, well balanced and affordable. On a cold night, nothing beats a Hot Spiced Mead. The Honey Moon is also one of the best places in town to hear live music. Always good talent, generally low key. The Open Mic on Wednesdays is the best in town. Oh yeah, they've got great light fare food too. A great place to enjoy great music, a good conversation and excellent mead. read more

I've been a regular at the Honeymoon for a long time. Tonight was a live show. At 9pm we grabbed a table next to parents with two kids, maybe 7 and 5yo. We couldn't hear the music because the kids were yelling at each other, then one jumped up and knocked my leg off the other, then one knocked a glass and a lit candle off their table, both of which crashed and broke on the floor. At this point I looked at the parents and asked them to please keep their kids under control so we could hear the music. The father then asked me to step outside. What? Then he started throwing scrabble pieces at my wife and me! Seriously? This is Bellingham! The kids continued to scream during the music so when the bartender came over I asked him to say something. Even after cleaning up the broken glass and melted candle wax he said, sorry we're family friendly. Omg. It's fine to be family friendly but you need to have a system in place to deal with incompetent parents and a weak bartender. We left. As I paid for the drinks the bartender was obviously high and reeked of pot. A tallish guy with a beard and big glasses. Whatever. We won't be going back. read more
