I often stop by looking for a bottle to accompany a meal and the staff is always on hand to answer any wine-related questions. They're helpful, but not pushy and don't judge you in the way you know you're often judged by snooty oenophiles. A great way to buy wine is to taste it first, which makes Thursday (and sometimes Friday) the best afternoon to drop by Lennox. They host a wine tasting at the counter. While you're at the counter, look up ... way up on the shelves and you'll find a great selection of dessert wines from BC. Dessert wines (especially coveted ice wines) make excellent boozy presents. If you're traveling and want to take a bottle to thank your host, ice wine is just a small bottle and easy to pack!

Great selection, more like a baby LCB than a wine store or some of the other liquor Outlets just basically have a lineup of basically overly marked up pricing. I just drink something like polarize or silent Sam with low-cal cranberry juice on the Rocks but as a martini. I was able to purchase four bottles and the only markup was two bucks . Two bucks. After just paying almost $10 more for a 26 year Alberta vodka. And they actually wanted $44 for $28 bottle of Absolute Vodka. Upmarket gouging never sits well with me. So, while I still mostly by my vodka at a government store, when I want to just go out and have a lovely afternoon and bring home some wine and some vodka i zoom up from my little corner of Yale town by bus to the south Granville District and pick up my supplies . Thanks guys , you are doing a great service to us Vancouver rights and I for one I'm delighted and happy to support you.

Upon first impressions, this is a small boutique sized wine store (we are in South Granville after all) that tries. It's a split level, the entrance (higher) level is wine, lower level (exit) is beers. There is a little bit of everything grouped by countries. A few bottles of each brand, and looks like a good mix of mid-priced to higher priced bottles. Appreciated the fridges lined with white wine. I imagine it serves as a good last minute "grab and go." I had a few minutes to browse before I was asked if I needed help. They didn't have the bottle I was seeking but the guy spent at least 5 to 10 minutes going over some other wines he recommended, taking my budget into account and asking other questions (i.e. was I looking for a specific varietal, region, etc.) He mentioned I could bring the bottle back if we were unsatisfied with the wine but I didn't ask how that would work... I would feel sheepish to bring back an opened bottle of wine. In the end I took a bottle that was recommended, within my budget, and though I had never heard of this winery before, turned out to be a great hit at dinner. Thanks!

The staff are always friendly and attentive to the needs and palates of each patron. We've never been steered in the wrong direction from any of their suggestions. Plus, they recently acquired a new staff member: an adorable little puppy. Bonus points for being dog friendly (even Scrappy was grateful for the treats at checkout) and having water outside for furry friends passing by. On Sunday afternoon's they host themed wine tastings inside the store. I've only managed to make it to a couple so far but plan on many more this summer. Cheers!

I went with a bottle of Cono Sur Bicicleta, a Cabernet Sauvignon (Wine of Chile 2012) for $14. It's medium-bodied, dry and fruity. You might find it cheaper at LCBO, but not by much. The label reads: A deep plum red with aromas of red fruit, cassis, black plums, and soft spices, together with a fruity, structured palate. Goes well with strong cheese, hearty stews and grilled cuts of beef.

However, it's not a great place to buy wine. The selection is all pretty cheap stuff - and not the cheap stuff that was chosen wisely because they're diamonds in the rough. Most of the wines here are cheap and taste like it. I'm a girl who's always shopping for a delicious bottle for under $15, so I've drank my share of cheap wines. I have my favourites and they aren't for sale here. The do accept bottle returns in the back. So if you live near here you can recycle up to 24 bottles in a visit.

After 5 minutes of waiting (with no one else in the store), someone finally walked up. I repeated my earlier statement and he picked up some $75 bottle of wine and told me it was similar. I asked him to tell me more about the wine and he pulled some app off his phone to tell me something about raspberries. I claimed I didn't think it was my friends taste and he started arguing with me about how the app is never wrong and that is exactly what the wine tastes like according to the app. I tried to explain I wasn't arguing about how the wine tastes, but instead saying I didn't think my friends would like it. While he was trying to find something else that might suit me, I saw some bottles of Hess on the shelf and grabbed one and got out of there as quickly as I could. Not only was the wine much more expensive than my local liquor store but going in there was a painful experience. I will never step foot in there again. Just an awful experience.

Fantastic Store, but certainly seems to be more disorganized the past few months. I Have noticed throughout the last few months the store has seemingly become chaotic and erratic with its selection of products becoming BC heavy, and certainly some more of the regular products not on Display. I do agree with Constance that it is now becoming a more BC heavy store, this is a shame if a decision has been made to be more BC specific. The variety of the products on offer is what appeals to me as a consumer. These issues are something I have not witnessed before, and I feel is an issue that the other stores do not seem to encounter in my eyes. As for the staff, there are some familiar faces such as Jessica, Graham and Tony who encourage me to return as their knowledge, attitude and professionalism is always an A+. I feel a review on the way the store is being run would probably be a good idea, as I see it would be a very sad shame to watch this fantastic store lose its shine. read more

I think in the past few months the store has actually been improving, contrary to what other Yelpers are saying. The BC selection is fantastic, the gov store's got nothing on them... in fact, the government stores I find are carrying less and less products each time I go in. I want variety! They carry some very interesting, hard to find wines (and Ports!) and their location is amazing. I always get excellent reccomendations from the French fellow that works there. I'm happy to have this wine store here. read more

Usually I'm here to return my empties. Unlike Return-It, this place actually gives you the full 10c/20c deposit for liquor bottles. They have a 24 container limit, but if you're nice they'll look the other way. (why does that limit even exist?) It's based on the honour system, as you drop your empties off against a wall near the back, then tell the cashier how many you turned in. I will buy some booze here someday and give a proper review.

Maybe this will change as they settle in and find their niche. One interesting thing is that the flights come in both L-handed and R-handed varieties. He'll always ask if you have enough tomato sauce and if you are lucky he will give you a slice of cheese and tell you how it's the real deal and ask if you would like to buy some. He'll even tell you to freeze the cheese if you don't use it in a few days. I love picking up my pasta from here as it is the best and inexpensive. This place is epic and you have to make it a stop here at least once. You won't get service like you do here anywhere else. And yes, if it looks closed during business hours, ring the bell in the front. He will come down and buzz you in.

Ms.Templeton of Erin Templeton fame was kind enough to tell me about a 'great little Italian market with the best Parmesan around' and I was quickly on my way to check it out. Tosi's is one of Vancouver's oldest establishments, currently being run by second generation owner Angelo Tosi. 75 years young, Tosi is a force in the store, always encouraging you to try the goods and suggesting new things. Now the store is not your typical market, it looks more like a warehouse and you may not even know where you are when you stand out front. You have to push a buzzer at the front door in order to be let in, I suspect this is because of security reasons but it is definitely unconventional. The store is a mish mash of all sorts of Italian imports alongside local cheeses and yes, the BEST organic Parmesan around! Fresh olives in buckets and fresh meats are there for you to create your next Italian feast. Note that Tosi's accepts cash-only.

None of the credit cards issued in the US are embossed. A quick review of BC liquor does not indicate a secondary ID needs to have embossed writing, it merely states ID should include name and signature. So despite being well over 30 and possessing multiple IDs we were refused service. Take my advice and please avoid this spot. Getting liquor should not be made more frustrating then I already is in BC.
