To that end, The Wife suggested we try Ida Red's, since what she knew about the place sorta jived with the vibe I was looking for. We made the trip in and man oh man, is there a lot to choose from. From cool to kitsch, from funny to puzzling, Ida Red's has it all. I will confess to Ida's not being the kind of place I would envision myself shopping at, but that's because I'm old, stodgy and a general curmudgeon. So I was pleasantly surprised and amused with Ida's. Overall, a really neat place with TONS of local craft merchandise. Now that I have a better idea of their offerings, I can plan a trip back, knowing what I'm looking for.

I took this as a sign and finally checked it out. I'm so glad I did! It was a slow day so I took my time to walk all around the store while asking questions. Turns out it's an artist co-op nonprofit. Several artists came together to start it in 2020 to showcase unique creations and offer one-of-a-kind, handmade and specialty items from 40+ local artists and artisan makers. The name was inspired by Leon Russell's "Hummingbird" song, which is appropriate since the Church Studio is a block away. You can find a wide array of items, from clothing and jewelry, to glasswork, mosaics, pottery, photographs, woodwork, and more. I found a really cute fall mini frame, bead earrings, and a sun catcher, all one of a kind, beautiful, and affordable. If you like a particular artist, they have all their cards at the register. They accept special requests and commissions, and are also able to ship. They display artwork from Tulsa Public School students and have special art events, and workshops. Oklahoma Souvenirs and food?…read more I don't believe that I have ever walked out of 1907 without some unique find. The store is a combination of touristy Oklahoma souvenirs: shirts, hats, thermal coffee tumblers, with a few antiques and collectables scattered about. Many MIO items, which is why I like the store. Today I picked up a handmade wood business card holder. The young lady working the store said her grandpa made it! My wife got some kind of "goat soap." Always very friendly service here. Over the summer months there has been a Hot Dog cart working in front of their other building. They were taking advantage of the nearby construction work and also the farmers market crowd. 1907 now has a food trailer set up there. Convenient. Just across the street, Broken Arrow's ice-skating rink is up and running for the winter months. I am not sure what 1907 will be serving, but hot chocolate would be good, after a few falls on the ice!
