a variety of frozen food items

For a one-horse Town trust me this blows a lot of big city buffets out of the park! You Don't See Much from the outside not much to look at and even less when you go inside but judging a book by the cover this time will fail you. The service I must say is spectacular I mean you get asked if you need anything at least every 5 or 10 minutes which is nothing wrong. Your drinks do not go unpunished in less than 5 minutes as well. The buffet it is a little depressing as far as variety but the items that I had on there really surprised the heck out of me. It's worth driving 40 minutes away from where I am staying, one of those you must try things if you're in town. Also Yelp says it's closed today on a Wednesday but they were very very open. The atmosphere is like a Chinese cheers where everybody seems to know each other but of course when you only have one horse in your town you name that as well.

The buffet is okay. My best comment would be "Meh!" Service was slow. For the quality of the food they were very pricey.

Small buffet and the cost was way too much for the buffet....Spent 33 bucks for the buffet and it wasn't even worth it!

Stumbled upon this little place in the middle of nowhere, Georgia. Super friendly owners, good food, good vibe.

The service here is a little weird and jarring at first. I hadn't gone more than 10 feet through…read morethe door when I was asked "What'll you have to drink?" You just have to know the procedure, but it wasn't only me, a Northerner whose brain hadn't yet fully recalibrated for the local accent. Locals were confused too. Procedure is this: tell them your drink preference (I had water), pick up a tray, put it on the counter, pick out a main, three sides, a dessert, slide it down to the register, pay, and take it to your table. At that point do you begin eating? No! Remove your items from the tray and they come by and pick it up. Now begin! You may be thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but I assure you it didn't feel that way. Just the quirky way they run the place. The waitress did warm up after I was there a while, came over to ask where I was from, etc. And to try to convince me to come back for breakfast! This is cafeteria style, with everything prepared ahead of time and kept warm on steam trays. So how do they keep that fried chicken so crunchy and delicious? Perhaps the best I've ever had, the batter so crunchy you could probably hear me eating from another room, assertively peppery, the large leg and thigh pieces perfectly cooked and juicy. (White meat also available.) My sides were lima beans, turnip greens, and yams. The highlight was the yams: super sweet but not in a bad way, balanced by good seasonings. The beans were fine, a bit salty. The only disappointment were the turnip greens, too finely chopped and overcooked. The portion sizes were decent. Also included is corn bread. Two choices: baked or fried. Never heard of fried so I tried that. Interesting but a little chewy and not so much corn flavor; next time I'd get the baked. Finishing this rather large lunch was a challenge for me but I managed, while taking in the local ambience. I saved the dessert for later. Dessert? Yes. I was also asked on ordering what I wanted for dessert. The only one that appealed was the red velvet cake (the others were a cobbler and bread pudding) so I got that. I assumed it was included but when I paid I saw it was not. $4; no big deal. It didn't look that good, a thin 1 inch slice tightly shrink wrapped on a paper plate. Looks were deceiving. The first time I actually liked red velvet cake, a light crumbly texture and cream cheese frosting that tasted of more than sugar. With the amount of frosting this tiny slice was quite filling and I'm glad it wasn't larger. All this for a little over $21. I think this was including tip but I'm not positive. Either way, great deal!

This huge place has an almost overwhelming variety of choices, all of them mediocre. I've been here…read moretwice but have decided that I won't be back for another try. We were seated promptly on both visits, and the wait staff are very pleasant and helpful. I'm a big fan of most types of Asian food, but I didn't find anything here that was outstanding. Some of the dishes were very cold, as if they had been made in advance, refrigerated, and then reheated for the serving line. I can understand why they would do this, given the huge number of dishes on offer. Still, $42 for 2 people (including soft drink and a tip) seems a bit much for what you get.

However, with restaurant prices rising the way they have been, I'm not mad at Chow Time at all. I appreciated during the first months of re-opening after COVID, gloves and masks were provided (and strictly encouraged). From hibachi to sushi to seafood to hot food to dessert, I don't think you could leave Chow Time hungry. And you're also not going to break the bank and feel like you're not eating your money's worth like you would at a more "luxurious" buffet. While prices have risen over time, I do think it's still remained affordable in a time where eating out has been outrageously overpriced. Definitely great for big groups and picky eaters - Chow Time! Nothing fancy, nothing mind blowing but definitely hits the spot.

Fried chicken was that simple salt/pepper, flour and fry chicken. Nice crust and tasty moist meat. Macaroni and cheese was about as close to the way my mother used to make it and I enjoyed every bite. A little creaminess with chunks of melted cheddar mixed in. My only complaint would be that the cheese on top was not browned enough for my personal taste. The black eyed peas had onion in them so my wife had to work around the onion but I enjoyed that onion flavor. The peach cobbler was the good stuff and my wife even had some and really enjoyed it. That qualifies as high praise from the picky eater. Now we have to talk about their thin delicate "cornbread". It's so thin it will break into pieces when you pick it up. I suspect this was developed by someone who's favorite part of cornbread is the crusty edges. For those who agree, this paper thin delicacy will be addictive. I know I had plenty and had to resist going back for more. The outside and inside are pretty simple. It is a buffet with multiple meat, vegetable and dessert choices. The service was good. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The price is good for the delicious food. We will be stopping here pretty regularly now for lunch when we are running up and down US 19. So glad we found them.
