We come here for chinese often. We usually order the eggdrop soup, general tso or orange chicken, kung pao chicken, lo mein, fried rice, fried chicken w/ mambo sauce which you cannot go wrong with any of those dishes. We've also had the panang curry and hunan beef and would not get those dishes again as they were bland. The portions here are pretty large and one dish could be shared between two people. You can order online through an app called Beyond Menu and can get free dishes if you spend a certain amount (example: spend $25 and get two free egg rolls). Food is always ready within 15-20 minutes or sooner and the workers have always been very sweet. Their parking lot is also very spacious. Would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back. read more

When I first started ordering from them a couple years ago I was satisfied but I feel they have gone a bit downhill. The quality of the food varies each time I order it and they have started cutting corners on meals like not including soy sauce or other complimentary items with your order. One of my favorite Chinese places in the area. I am a vegetarian and I love this place! I deliver at a different Chinese place and would rather go here instead. My go to dishes are egg fuyung, salt and pepper tofu, spring rolls, and MY GOD their best dish even when I still ate meat is their KUNG PAO TOFU. The thought of just the aroma of it is enough to make me salivate. Usually one would assume the general tsos tofu is the way to go, but in this case it is definitely the KUNG PAO TOFU. By far the best Chinese restaurant within a 5 mile radius of our house. Our new favorite, the dishes are flavorful and fresh, the portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. Their sauces are really good, you can taste the layers of flavors, and they are not corn-starchy and thick like your standard Chinese restaurants' sauces. We've had the cashew chicken (cashews were plentiful, perfectly toasted and crunchy, chicken was nice and moist), lemon chicken (nice pieces of battered and fried chicken breasts that are sliced up and served with tangy and not too sweet lemon sauce), pork lo mein (generous slices of barbecued pork, noodles were cooked perfectly and not overly greasy, and the sauce was very flavorful and not bland like you can get from time to time), general Tso's chicken (above average), crab rangoon (wontons were crisp and not stale/soggy, could use more filling, though.) We've just done take-out and when we've gone in to pick up the food, we were happily surprised to find a nice, clean and modern interior. Was visiting Virginia for the first time when we were craving Chinese food. Was pleasantly surprised by the clean environment, excellent customer service, and decent portion size. We ordered the shrimp fried rice which had a lot of flavor and had a good amt of shrimp. We also had the orange chicken and panang curry. I had a feeling it was going to be bad by the fact that a distinct fishy smell emanated from the bag despite the fact that there was no seafood present. The hot & sour soup had no spice to it and little flavor and the noodles to put in it were prepackaged that never softened. The egg roll was oily and the fried portion tough and chewy. The chicken teriyaki tasted okay but the chicken was sub-par and very stringy. The fried dumplings were edible-I'd actually say "good". The Gen Tso Chicken was tasteless and the texture made me wonder what meat I was actually eating. It may have just been an off night, but I won't be trying it again. read more

Well, I cannot tell you how their food tastes (and after reading a bunch of reviews, I'm kind of glad) because after waiting for an hour and reassuring 7 hungry kids that the food would be here any minute...they sent us a cancellation email with NO EXPLANATION!! However, I was devastated when I stood at the counter to place an order and observed a cook reach into a freezer grab some raw chicken with his bare hands, and dropped a portion on the floor. He looked around to see who was watching - and picked the portion of chicken up from the floor and placed it in the wok. I didn't say a word, but instead turned around and walked out. This is a great little family run restaurant that we frequent when we are in the Springfield area. It's very clean and you are always warmly welcomed. I find the portions decent and they are very good about substitutions. My favorite dish there is the Moo Shu Chicken with pancakes. It isn't "authentic Chinese" food but your pretty standard American take-out Chinese. My daughter is a big fan of their wonton soup. Our food has always been fresh, hot and the veggies still crisp. I would agree with other reviewers that the food is not "overly sauced" nor heavy with MSG. read more

We ordered Moo Goo GaiPan, Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein Chicken. For what it is, Fast Food, you get a good bang for the buck. The GaiPan was fresh, crispy vegetables, chicken was tender white breast meat, as was the Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein. It was all freshly prepared, and ready for take out in 15 minutes - NOT last night's special reheated in the microwave and dressed in extra sauce as I've experienced at other like restaurant's nearby. Man how I've missed good Chinese food! I've just moved from Indiana where the best Chinese we could find was Panda Express (I am not joking... I know this is beyond sad) so I was really eager to get started trying out some local restaurants! I used Hong Kong Express's online ordering service and I liked how well it worked - sometimes these sites can be clunky or out dated but this one worked well. I was able to find everything I wanted (Beef with Broccoli, Fried Dumplings and Shrimp Fried Rice) and because I ordered over $15 - the mandatory minimum for delivery - I got two egg rolls for free. I had to pick for the food to be ordered 45 minutes later, even though the website said I could pick ASAP, but that was okay because I had to run a quick errand. Well on my way back I got a call that they were already there! Luckily I was only two minutes away because they came 15 minutes earlier than the time I was forced to select. The delivery guy was not disgruntled at all, he politely apologized (yes apologized for being quick - haha!) and waited. When I arrived home he was very nice and I complimented him and his restaurant for being quick! So just know that if you want your food delivered at a specific time, they might be a bit early. Upon trying the food, it was all delicious! I have missed fresh fried dumplings so much - they were obviously handmade and filled with yummy meat. They had quite a good flavor on their own! Next I tried the shrimp fried rice - it was a little bit greasy, but I've never had fried rice that isn't. The veggies were crispy and the shrimp well cooked. I couldn't believe how much they gave me! I know what I will be eating all week. I then tried the egg rolls, I almost cried when I saw them. I've become brainwashed into knowing tiny pre-made egg rolls were the usual, these were huge! At least four inches long, an inch and a half wide and filled with delicious meat and veggies. I had to cut the one I ate in half because it was so big! I was glad I got to try their egg rolls - such a nice free add on. Finally I tried out my beef with broccoli. The beef was not stringy, it was melt in your mouth perfect. The sauce was not too salty and not too bland and the broccoli was pleasantly crispy. I also can happily say all of my food was still very warm, the reason I ate the beef and broccoli last was because I had to let it cool off some! Overall I would definitely be ordering from Hong Kong Express again, but first I have lots of leftovers to eat! read more
