Quiet on Sunday at 4:30. While the snow melted and washed away the snow (FINALLY) I ventured out for some General Tso's chicken. Ever notice Chinese food places never advertise? But wait. My go-to spot suddenly closed, leaving me in a bit of a lurch! Where do I go?! We all have our favorite Chinese restaurant, and when we can't go to that one there's a little bit of a conundrum. I take American Chinese food seriously - which really means I order the same thing 98% of the time because that's my GO TO meal. As an intellectual, that is of course General Tso's chicken. Beijing Tokyo blends north and south Asia into a rather cozy, strip mall location. One person was talking obliviously on her cell phone, while the sushi Chef took orders. Until Yelp asked me if this place was romantic, I hadn't actually thought about it that way. But it is a little romantic. The tables are close together, the light is low, even if this place was full it would be... Cozy. A Chinese restaurant that's cozy is a very short leap to romantic. You can have a conversation here. I ordered my usual and waited about 10 minutes. The GTC was excellent. It had spice and flavor, but not too spicy. The fried rice was delicious. Good portion size and a good price. Two egg rolls and the total came to $25.25. No surprises, nothing out of the ordinary. If you had told me this had come from my favorite- now sadly closed - Chinese restaurant, I would have never known the difference. And there in lies what I think makes a good Chinese restaurant: predictability. American Chinese food is a distinct cuisine with the same menus, the same waving Buddah and melamine plates. The difference is quality, and the taste of your favorite meal. I absolutely love Beijing Tokyo! It is one of my family's go-to restaurants. The crab rangoon is pretty good. I get it every time we order. The black dragon roll is really good. My daughter gets it every time we order from here. I really love that they have a vast array of dishes. It makes ordering for the family so easy! I walked into a good sized dining room with oriental decorations and music playing. Really nice and quaint. There weren't a lot of people-- I came an hour before closing. Still, there were a lot of folks in and out for takeout. I had the hot and sour soup, the barbecued ribs, and the shrimp fried rice. The hot and sour soup had the right heat level, if a little sweet. The barbecue ribs come with a healthy 6 pieces and were very tasty. Shrimp fried rice is good and loaded with shrimp. I planned to pick up my food and go, but once I tasted a little of the food, I wanted a little more. Finally, I just sat there and ate my meal. The server was so nice! She offered me water and cleanup after I sat there and ate my take out in the restaurant (lol). Today was my day off and my girlfriend and I came here for lunch. This Japanese restaurant was absolutely a five star experience for the two of us. We were tempted to order some stir fry however we ended-up getting sushi. It seemed like the wait would have been much longer for the Japanese stir fry, so we stayed with something simple. I got Calidornia Rolls and she had a Tuna type of sushi, and they were both delicious. Our Server was awesome and all of our dining needs were taken care of really fast. Walked into a low key quiet place with soft lighting to pick up my order and was greeted by a lady with a big smile who was sitting behind the counter. The boys wanted orange chicken (pretty much got devoured) and beef lo mein (didn't put a dent in it because there was so much noodles packed in a lil container). Both had great taste and it was flavorful. Hubby and I got 2 egg rolls, hot and sour soup, crispy beef szechuan and general tso's chicken. Yummy yummy. It's in our belly. All the years of living within 5 mins of this place we had no clue the food has such great flavor. We'll be ordering more take out from here again when we're craving some Chinese food read more

First time we tried this place. We ordered Chinese take out and we were absolutely disappointed. It could be this place is really all about Sushi or Japanese but I can tell you this was positively the worst Chinese take-out I have had in a very long time. The Hot and Sour soup was sweet. The crispy spring rolls were thick and not the least bit crispy and the inside was soggy. The Kung Pao Chicken was made using slices of white chicken which was quite dry and worse the container was jammed full of zucchini squash but had very few peanuts. WTH ? My wife ordered Hunan Shrimp which I also tried and the sauce was almost tasteless. We didn't keep the leftovers and throwing away perfectly good leftovers is not what we usually do. The Thai food is not good here and I would not recommend it. The veggie pad Thai was so bland and did not taste similar to way better pad Thai I've had in the past. However, I will say that the serving sizes for takeout here are really big! I also tried the Hunan chicken with fried rice, which was good, but started to taste a little bit weird after a couple of days left over. We've tried a lot of take out Chinese food in the area and this one is one of the better ones. It's nothing fancy but most of the dishes we've tried were very good. I also was very excited that they had hot & spicy beef casserole on the menu, which is something I don't see often. I had to try it and it was pretty good! Carried out on 1/31. General Tso and shrimp and veggies were okay - chicken chewy and shrimp had a hair in it. The cashew chicken was very obviously an old dish that was reheated. Chicken tasted old and sauce had a characteristic freezer burned taste. We were embarrassed to bring this to a family dinner - most people pointed out how strange the cashew chicken tasted. I've been a customer Beijing Tokyo for years and they are my go-to for Chinese food. They have the best General Tso's in town and they use white meat only and fresh broccoli. Great spot to get some takeout! They use all white meat for their chicken dishes which made the mister really happy. I enjoyed that we were able to get both Chinese & Japanese food here since the family wanted noodles (the kids got combination lo-mein) and sesame chicken, and I was able to get some sushi rolls i was craving. This will hit that spot just fine. That said, it's hard to feed 2 kids with their own specific tastes in food so it was nice to see a variety of options that we knew they'd like. This restaurant has been around for several years in Burke. There are no other Chinese restaurants nearby so that probably explains why they are still in business. Their Japanese menu is acceptable in quality, but their Chinese food is deplorable. They pour so much sugar in every dish they make that is tastes like eating cake. Additionally, whenever they add vegetables like broccoli, they never cook it AT ALL. I like broccoli, but uncooked it tastes like eating your lawn. I only go there if I don't have time to drive the couple of miles needed to reach the next Chinese restaurant. Avoid eating here, unless you have no other alternatives. read more

By far Beijing Tokyo has the best Chinese cuisine I have had in the area. I have tried several different restaurants, but none of them tasted as fresh and or had as high quality of ingredients. We ordered takeout from their website. Tip: if you order online they usually have coupons (for example free crab rangoon if you spend $25). It was easy and reliable. The food was ready as soon as we arrived for pickup!! The food was excellent! We started off with a large wonton soup (split it among 3 of us, as a small bowl of soup appetizer). Delicious!! The wontons and broth both had a really good taste! We enjoyed our crab rangoons and they came with a red sauce, which I believe was sweet and sour sauce. For entrees we ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan. This is my favorite dish to order, and they execute it perfectly here!! The chicken was tender, the vegetables were fresh, and the sauce was savory. I highly recommend!! We upgraded our side of rice to fried rice and that was the best decision!! It was fried but not greasy, it was perfect!! My fiancé ordered sesame chicken and he liked that as well. I have to say the recent reviews for here are spot on! We got the Chicken Green Beans, General So's chicken, spring roll and crab Rangoon and it was great. The green beans were so fresh and cooked perfectly, just the right amount of spice and the quality of the chicken was also great. General So's was lightly breaded and crispy also all white tender chicken breast meat. I had been craving crab Rangoon for a while and these hit the spot! Well - Sadly, we are still on the hunt for a better Chinese food place. This one was just "okay". We ordered bunch of different dishes, off of each menu. The best was the Volcano roll. The General Tso's "freebee" chicken was the next best dish...the other two Chinese dishes we ordered were strange and one just okay. After seeing photos on Yelp for the crispy beef, we tried that dish. The "beef" was really hard and chewy, and honestly there was no beef flavor at all. It was literally crunchy, chewy and sweet. Very strange. I would not recommend that dish to anyone...order something different. Don't say I didn't warn ya. The veggie spring roll was missing from our order. Not expensive so we didn't fuss. Egg roll was fine. Hot and sour soup was so-so. After reading all these 5-star reviews, I just don't see it. 3-stars is fair. read more

We always get delivery from this restaurant. They have their own drivers but Uber Eats will also deliver. The food is always very good. Service is generally very fast and the food always arrives hot. Their hot and sour soup is the best in the area and inexpensive. My wife enjoys the vegetable sushi and dumplings. My husband and I have been trying to find a new Chines restaurant after our favorite closed down. We ordered online. The food was okay-ish. Chicken was overcooked but the flavors, in general, were good. I like that their Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken doesn't taste like it has been smothered in sugar like some places make them. We also ordered Pad Thai which was bland but still okay. Beijing Tokyo has been long overdue for a review! We have ordered from them off and on for a good while now, and the food has been very good. Tonight we ordered curry chicken Chinese style (yellow curry), Thai-style red chicken curry, two spring rolls, one order of beef teriyaki, and some crab rangoon. We added on a coupon for free lo mein. For the appetizers, the beef teriyaki and the crab rangoon were amazing. The beef was tender, the marinade was a little sweet and a little sticky. The crab rangoons were crispy and absolutely filled to the brim with the sweet and savory krab cream cheese. They even remembered the sweet/sour sauce for them! My only "eh..." moment was for the spring rolls. While they were hot and exteriors crispy, the inside was extremely soft and just kind of squished itself out. Maybe a tad overcooked? For both curries, we asked for "Thai spicy", and boy did they deliver the heat! Our lips were burning, our eyes watering, our noses running, and it was absolutely glorious. If you like your food spicy, they actually listen. Next time I may actually have to dial back on the heat some so we can have more control over the spiciness of the leftovers. The free lo mein was also very good! Savory and slightly smoky, noodles were perfectly tender and the carrots tender-crisp. One suggestion for the restaurant, when you go to add the coupon through the online ordering app (Grub Hub or Beyond Menu), it would be cool if they could offer you an option to pick a protein or pick plain. We just didn't know what we were getting. I was excited to see it was chicken! Definitely not complaining though, either protein would have been fine (or plain). Options are always nice to have. Last but not least, the delivery man was super nice and the food arrived a lot faster than we thought (double bonus). All in all, we were very happy with our order!! Thanks, Beijing Tokyo. Stop by for a quick Sat lunch and was surprised to see they offered several Chinese and Japanese lunch specials(served M-S). We craved Japanese. I ordered the shrimp and veggie tempura lunch special($8.95). It came with 3 pieces of panko crusted shrimp, and 5 pieces of veggie(broccoli, yam, eggplant, onion and carrot. I'm very picky in how my tempura should be cooked. The shrimp with the panko crusting was ok, but the veggies really lacked in the crispy and light tempura. I won't order this one again. The hibachi meal that the hubby ordered looked very tasty. The steak was tender and fresh, the stir fried veggies were awesome. The checkout process was kind of strange. There is no estimated time for the delivery once the order is placed. I made a special request to NOT include plastic utensils, fortune cookies and condiments as we have SOOOO many of these at home. We still ended up getting fortune cookies AND soy sauce packets. So much for reading the instructions. The vegetable egg rolls were not good. They were undercooked. The crispy chicken Szechuan style was awful. It was like eating crackling (fried animal skins). I came here during lunch because I was in the Burke area and was craving some Asian food. They have two menus separated into different types of Asian cuisines. First, I ordered two appetizers, the yakitori, and the crab rangoon. The yakitori was very flavorful and was a pretty good serving size for an appetizer. The crab rangoon was my favorite of the two because of how crispy it was when it came out. It was really accented well with the sweet and sour sauce that came with the dish. For the main, we ordered the Unagi lunch special and volcano roll. The Unagi lunch special came with soup and salad. The main dish comprised of a decent serving of rice surrounded by tomatoes topped with unagi. The unagi was very flavorful. The volcano roll was good but it was a little overwhelmed by the amount of spicy mayo that was drizzled on it. Overall the service was very good and the appetizers were great. My favorite part of lunch was the rangoon. The lunch specials were good but I just wished that there was a little bit more food. The volcano rolls were good but were hidden behind all the spicy mayo. Overall, I give Beijing Tokyo 4 stars. Its a great place for lunch if you are craving Asian food in the Burke area. I ordered takeout for the second time. I used the website for both the Japanese and Chinese menus. There was a technical glitch and when I arrived, they didn't receive my order. I think it's because I ordered from both menus. Fortunately, the lady found it through searching for it and promptly sent the order to the kitchen staff and letting them know that it was priority.I am not sure exactly what happened. Anyway, she recommended calling in the order instead of the website on Yelp. They were very busy on a Friday night. She was apologetic and offered me water or tea while I waited for my order.
