I was assigned to Sharon as my "masseuse" if she even is deserving of that title. She started off with a quick consultation for what was supposed to be a full body 60 minute massage. I let her know most of my tension was in my shoulder and neck area. She then proceeds to use the MOST FIRM ELBOW pressure in these regions, to which I quickly let her know hurt and if she can readjust. She kept switching from elbow pressure to forearm in the same spots over and over again, each time adding more pressure. Again, I had to ask her to lighten the pressure as it was causing more pain than anything. Out of the 60 minute massage, I would say about 45 minutes was on my upper back and the last 15 minutes being for my arms and legs. All she did for my legs was stretch and wiggle them. I don't know to what standard Massage Envy holds their masseuses to, but this was so sub-par that I didn't even know what to say. Coming back from the massage, I noticed a hot and tight pain on my left shoulder. I went to check it out and found the whole region red, swollen and bruising (pictures were taken to document this and add to this review). The only reason I'm leaving any stars at all is for Dillon at the front desk, who deserves infinite stars for his kindness and helpfulness. What was supposed to be a relaxing part of our vacation ended up being the complete opposite and I hope this isn't a representation of all Massage Envys.

I saw Jessica on my first visit and she rubs the same spot over and over again quickly (like you're rubbing a stain out of your clothes or something). It's not like the typical Western slow, deliberate movement but rather fast rubbing. I do appreciate the fact that they try and keep the massage oils out of your hair and she does a hot towel wipe down of the oils after as well. Usually other massage therapists would have you turn over to focus on the other side but this is strictly a back only place. My second massage was with Meizhou and it was probably my worst massage ever. She was sniffling the whole time and I could hear her blow her nose and massage me one-handed and then resume massaging. She had gloves on and almost all of the massage was done over the sheets. She was also rubbing/grabbing very quickly everywhere and focused mostly on my legs which I hadn't circled on the chart. It was starting to be painful and I told her and she did back down for a few minutes but went right back to high pressure grabs/rubs. Again, not the typical Western slow, deep tissue massage but rather squeezing and lots of knuckle/elbow on ribs/spine bone on bone action. The hot towel was also super hot and I flinched when she placed it on me which she kinda laughed off as well.
