We were visiting Crookston and wanted to try some Chinese food. This little buffet was quite flavorful and had a variety of entrees to select from. The service was friendly and prompt. Better than expected. Two of us ordered off the menu and then two of us tried the buffet. All four were fairly happy. It was a slow night in the restaurant, so they did keep the buffet minimally stocked, which was understandable. Two things that stood out for us was that the food was not overly salty and also oily. Two things that you find in a lot of Chinese buffets. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant was clean. Not much for ambience, but I think it's more about diners looking for variety and a quick meal at a fairly low price. read more

This is my second review of Hong's. The first time I ate at Hong's I opted for the buffet and in my review I suggested ordering from the menu instead. So that's what I did this time. When your food is prepared to order at Hong's it is definitely better than food from the buffet -- at least in terms of freshness. But -- it is the same kind of generic "Chinese Food" that you can find at thousands of small town Chinese joints across the continent. Actually, come to think of it, I had similar food in Europe too. Hong's was pretty much the only place open on a Sunday evening on a holiday weekend and I'm glad they were. Though the food is so-so it is ok and the portions were large enough that I had leftovers for lunch a day later. I'll probably eat there again on one of my next trips through Crookston. read more

I was in town for a family funeral and a relative asked if I wanted Chinese for Sunday night dinner. I agreed and so we went here, after a phone call to make sure they were open. As we walked in, there were only a few others in there but the buffet was well stocked. Our waitress told us we could feel free to take a plate and get our food, The buffet itself was varied from egg rolls and crab rangoon to Sweet and Sour Chicken and Seafood delight (combination of crab meat and shrimp) with a choice of two soups. All in all a good place to go in a small town...prices are decent and I'll come here again when in the area. read more

We really enjoyed our meal at Hong's Chinese Restaurant. We ate at the buffet. There were seven of us - 2 adults, 5 children. They have staggered pricing for children. $2-$7 depending on age. 12 year old charged as adult. It was delicious and we were stuffed! Not a huge buffet, but a very good one. Everything fresh and hot. They rapidly replaced food as it ran out. The children were whining on the way there that they didn't like Chinese food. They quickly changed their tune. They all loved it. They all had multiple plates, including the three year old. We will definitely go back. We ate here on a Friday night at about 6. It was starting to get busy as we left. read more

My husband and I had the buffet. We were there about 6:30 on a Sunday night. One family was walking out the door as we walked in and we had the place to ourself which usually isn't good when having buffet. The one thing about this place that keeps me coming back for more is the SERVICE. the people who run this place are phenomenal. They are extremely friendly and attentive to your desires while dining. I hadn't gone there in over a year and they still remembered me and welcomed me. Seriously the sweetest people!!! The only reason why I am only giving it 4 stars is because there is not a huge selection of food. the food they do have is great. not overly greasy, but not bland either. They are always very on-top of making sure the whole line is full, regardless of when you come in. LOVE Hongs Chinese food. The staff is incredibly friendly and always remembers my order (I always get the same things). They deliver really fast too. The Honey Walnut Shrimp is my favorite. They put a TON of shrimp in there which is great because most places skimp you on the meat. Hong's gives really large portions and the prices are great too. Walked over here for dinner since it is very close to the Cobblestone Inn. They had a buffet, which looked good, only panned out to fair. The best dish was the pepper beef, that was superb, bell peppers, nice slices of beef, great hoison sauce. The fried rice was good, well done, too bad they didn't add a little BBQ pork to make it a solid winner. Chow mein was so so, the real disappointment was the chicken trays. tried all three, uggg. If you enjoy the freshest of local vegetables and want to eat a healthy meal go to Hung's , yes it is spelled wrong, but what else can you expect in a rural enclave? Ben is very kind, while Maggie is quick. Both are generous in portions. Order the Double Noodle Glenda style. Just tell Ben. This is a huge meal for 4 and get it with ginger. Well, that is Glenda style. Noodles, unless someone has bad teeth, you get like in China. Crispy noodle. Do not worry as the broth with vegetables and misc meat from the buffet will soften it. You get rice and fortune cookies too for 10 bucks. Add an order of sesamie cookies for desert to make the $15 min charge. Inside the fried cookies is bean paste. They do not use additional MSG however, some of their sauces contain it and they use some sauce. You can also order curry to go which is very thin so tell Ben to thicken it. Chicken curry is Ok. Beef Lo Mein with broccoli is good too. Problem is that these dishes that serve 4 are only 10 bucks so add the amazing cookies or cans of soda (pop). Make sure to tip the driver. We got in a car accident and it was BAD. We lived on Ben's food to get our health back. read more
