I scheduled to get a tattoo for each of my daughters (9 & 6 y/o) as a valentines gift. I messaged on IG and got a quick response and appointment. Unfortunately I had to make a lot of changes - day, time, location - and she was super understanding and accommodating. We did the session at my moms house by Ala Moana Shopping center. She explained everything she was doing, the process of how to treat and how it would look after. My mom and me ended up getting tattoos too! I would definitely recommend! Great prices and customer service! PS - my daughters were rock stars when their classmates saw the tattoos

Carolyn of Honolulu Henna is amazing. I fly to O'ahu every 6 to 8 weeks (live part-time) from Los Angeles to be with my mom and to get Carolyn's Jagua artwork on my body! My kids get their Jagua every year they come out with me. She creates her art free hand. I tell her a few elements I want to include then she is free to express herself. She was GREAT. Her art is amazing and I enjoyed every minute of our conversation. She went into detail about henna and jengua, care instructions, what to expect while it was drying/ peeling. I really appreciated how specific she was and showed me pictures. These pictures are taken a week after being done (the fish is a bit faded due to pre shave exfoliation& everything shower). If you're looking for an awesome Henna + Jagua artist in Oahu, check out Honolulu Henna! Carolyn is such a cool, down to earth person and made it such a nice experience. It's easy to make an appointment via her website or messaging her directly if you have questions. She doesn't have a shop currently, but she travels around to meet clients at hotels, etc for the session. I got the sun + moon design and incorporated the Chinese character "明" into it as well (since its in my Chinese name) and I love how it turned out! My friends got a really sick looking turtle and floral + mystical design for theirs. Overall we love how intricate and detailed the designs are and how she was able to captivate and bring our visions to life through her work. She was super helpful as well with explaining how to care for the Jagua and how the process works. Definitely recommend booking your next Henna + Jagua session with Carolyn the next time you're in Oahu

Look at this masterpiece! This is my first experience with Jagua and Carolyn made it such a memorable one. I sent her a rough draft of what I was looking to get, and she made it so much better. I message her through text and she gave me an estimate. So then we finalize an appointment date and met the following day. She is a traveling artist so that's pretty cool. After meeting, we discuss more in detail and finalize a price. During the process, we chatted and she told me some great info on what I should do and should avoid while I'm here. She is a perfectionist and I love all the details she had put in this design. She'll go over the aftercare process pretty throughly, so we know what to expect. The design came out beautiful and not going to lie, I wasn't sitting as still as I should be... but it still looks great! I definitely would come back and have her do more amazing designs on me. If you're here in the area, y'all should check her out for reals!

Carolyn was amazing to work with, she is so talented and through. She walked me through the process, and I let her design my tattoo and it exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a temporary tattoo look no further! She is extremely easy to work with meeting you at your hotel, which is so convenient while on vacation. She will also be doing traditional tattoo's soon so keep that in mind while you consider making your temporary tattoo a permanent one :).

Later that evening (5hours later and no water) peeling and easily comes off. Notice the lighter image under the dry henna.

Carolyn is so talented and sweet. She is quick with her designs and amazing art is transformed before your eyes. (Not pictured is Maui hook) our son was so happy to have it placed in his leg. She texted me after I requested an appt and quote. She meet us at our hotel, so our family of 5 took turns, we were able to nap and have brunch. Please remember no water activities the day you get the henna placed AND it takes 24 hours for it to be dark and beautiful. Our henna tatoos lasted almost 2 weeks. My tatoo created a lovely reverse print from where it tanned on my upper arm so now I have a beautiful reminder of our trip.

Carolyn is a traveling/mobile henna and jagua artist who really is leaps and bounds beyond the rest. I showed her a picture of a tattoo and a photograph of my bunny and she was able to put a large thigh piece on my thigh as a tattoo trial in no time at all! The jagua will stain like a tattoo and people have been complimenting it thinking that it's real ink. I am super impressed that she was able to take my request and make something custom for me in less than an hour. It looks just like my precious little bun too! The appointment itself was super fun and Carolyn was lovely to chat with. My kids found Carolyn because they wanted henna tattoos. She exceeded their expectations. Aside from how talented she is as an artist, she's super accommodating and has great energy. She came to our hotel at 6:30 am to fit us in last minute. She also got 4 girls done in less than an hour. Every picture of the tattoos they wanted she personalized and made it perfect. I'm such an indecisive person, i'm also a perfectionist but I don't care what others think. I always wanted a tattoo and I didn't want others opinion or bashing. I knew what I liked and what I wanted and usually I just do it. Tattoos tho were something I'm scared of... "NEEDLES" eek! When I saw someone with henna tattoo with the jagua ink, I was amazed how nice it looked. I had to make an appointment to get a temporary tattoo of the real one I wanted. This way I could see the placement and the henna artist Carolyn is amazing at drawing what I envisioned. There's some things on the tattoo I wanted changes on but I'm so glad I tested it out and realized... there's lots of tweaks that needs to be done on the image I want. The placement I love tho... Others have seen the henna and thought it's real but it looks more blue in person. They've asked why I didn't want it higher on my thigh and so close to my knee. I had to tell them... I don't have kids, if I ever decided to... the closer towards my butt will cause stretch marks and changing the tattoo. I thought out well the place and the image... If you want to test out something before getting permanent. Henna is perfect. The studio can be a little hard to find but it's quite homey feel. I would definitely come back! read more

Such a great experience! My travel companion and I wanted henna designs on our arms, so we called Carolyn and made an appointment for the next day. Carolyn met us at our hotel and worked her magic on our skin as we sat next to the harbor. She was so personable and a lot of fun to hang out with for a couple of hours. She does AMAZING work, too! I was contemplating on getting a neck tattoo and wanted to see if I'd like it and did some research and found Carolyn. She was personable and very accommodating we made an appointment with her and showed her some photos of what I wanted and she drew the most beautiful flowers. I'm so happy with it and will more than likely get a neck tattoo now. Carolyn was friendly throughout and the henna took about an hour and half. An unbelievable experience! Honestly, if I could give more stars I would. I was on vacation in Hawaii and was looking for a place to get henna when I stumbled upon Honolulu Henna. Carolyn was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately she had to close her shop because of COVID, but that hasn't stopped the passion and love for what she does and it shows in her art. Whether you are looking for a way to test out some tattoo ideas or just want something fun and cool, Honolulu Henna is the place to go. Since her shop has closed, she is now coming to you!! Whether you are at your hotel or hanging out at the beach she is extremely accommodating and tries her best to make sure that you get a memorable experience wherever that may be. We had 24 hrs in Honolulu before heading back to the mainland. Even though it was a short window, we called Carolyn without an appointment and she came to our hotel and gave my daughter an awesome henna tattoo. She was very professional, friendly and most importantly, did great work. We can't recommend her enough. read more

The communication between the owners and me was excellent. I was able to tell him exactly what I wanted, he made five different variations of what I was looking for and worked around what I thought looked the best. The turn around was a week but it was well worth the wait. I could've maybe found something in Etsy for cheaper or just bought something from the ABC Store for a gift but a gift that is unique, made by a local artist and you can authentically say I got this from Hawaii is what I think made me decide to go with them and it did not disappoint. If you're looking for omiyage or a gift from Hawaii go to A Rainbow Studio. They will help wrap it up with bubble wrap if you're not a local or are going somewhere.

What an artist! Carolyn was in Minneapolis this past March and brought the magic of Hawaii with her. I knew I wanted her to do a black feather (raven medicine) but I didn't care what else she did- I trusted her talent. Simply put, she has a knack for intuition. Carolyn is down-to-earth and the essence of fun. Because of our kinship, I've asked her to decorate me for my wedding this August! After checking out her Instagram, I'm pretty sure white henna is the way to go. Carolyn is an amazing artist and a very sweet person. She came to our hotel and not only touched up the henna my son had earlier in the week but gave him a tribal sea turtle too. She explained the process of taking care of it but also educated us on where henna and jagua come from, how to properly preserve it. We unfortunately got a henna from a hotel vendor and after speaking with Carolyn, it was clear the hotel vendor was using poorly stored product. Honestly, i'm insanely glad we went to Honolulu Henna rather than that Rainbow place. The artist here knows what she's doing, she understands the henna material she's using, and she is just the most down to earth artist i've ever met. This place is not your typical touristy henna stand. She has a passion in her art, and it shows fourth. Carolyn is by far the best and most unique henna artist I've ever been to. I went once and was hooked. She free-hands no matter the size and complexity of the piece, and takes into account everything from your bone structure to body movement. Pretty easy to book an appointment. She came to the hotel and did henna for me and my wife. It was a simple script. The price was reasonable and for the quality of work -- which was awesome. Other places wont custom draw and it doesnt look the same. We couldnt have hoped for better, she gave us some oahu advice too which was also thoughtful.
