Service complete 5/4/26 all in one day. Unfortunately my unit was 16 years old and had a major leak of coolant in the outdoor unit. After talking about all options, and asking a bajillion questions we decided to buy a new unit (SIGH). I want to complement everyone in their team for their professionalism. Never once was there a "this is the only real option for you". It was sensible and top tier with the options they provided. I cannot make a higher recommendation to use their service.

I knew that the issue was and told him. I called him out to replace a capacitor, nothing else. Install that, the unit will kick on. Cheap and easy fix. A gentec cap at Home Depot is about $14. Yep, $14. Discharge the old one with a screw driver, take it off, replace it. Charge me for a service call, maybe jack up the part price a bit, then boom, cool air and that's that. Well I once stopped using this company because it started to seem as if the techs are on salary, plus commission for upselling other services or parts. If this is the case, it makes the possibility for defrauding over over charging customers an obvious issue. Doesn't mean they will all be dishonest, but it would make dishonesty incentivized, and reward those techs that bring in the biggest numbers, and parts sold at an ungodly mark up. When we didn't have Youtube and the internet to cross reference and diagnose issues, and if I did not have a Nephew that is an HVAC tech but that lives too far, I would not be so upset that I felt had. He was a very pleasant person, but maybe this was a part of the manner in which the hammer was applied. So, an issue I have had several times over the course of 223 years of home ownership, that has never run a hair over $200 including the recharge, capacitor, and service call, ran close to $500, just a year past the last time I had this done by a competitor, same city. Another note, upstairs unit was chilly prior to the service of the downstairs unit. When the tech left, upstairs was warm. Not in relationship to the downstairs because of the fix, but unusually warm considering years both ran fine. He mentioned cleaning both. I did not ask for the upstairs to be serviced. What happened to the upstairs unit? What? Was I supposed to then call him back to now "fix" this one that magically started to warm up? Um, No. So I called the company I switched to in the first place. in the words of former President G.W. Bush... "There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again." At least I tried to allow them a chance for redemption. Seems like they are determined to upsell themselves out of my consideration ever again.

I contacted ZedicAir and had a tech(Matthew) at my house in about an hour. The trouble shooting started, and a few hours later, the cool air was flowing. We even had a visit from the owner to check on the progress. I've used several local companies over the last few years, but relying on ZedicAir that last couple has given me peace of mind. I chose Comfort Land because I related to who I communicated to and was able to establish good communication with them at a, albeit weird hour (Saturday night 9pm). The person I talked to, Will, was very upfront about the pricing. The price was 49$ for a diagnostic visit. I also asked if there was a cancellation fee in case the AC worked itself out, no cancellation fee, and he also recommended some YouTube sites to see if some of the basics could be ruled out on the costumer side. I appreciated that and after doing some price comparison with 2 other companies, one of which tried to upsell me on a yearly plan, I decided to go with Comfort Land. I confirmed the appointment time on Sunday and on Monday they came early afternoon. I was not here when they originally came and my husband interacted with them, he had a favorable opinion. I had done my own research that morning and realized that the problem was likely inside the house since the outside unit was spinning normally and the refrigerant line was cold, but nothing was blowing in my house so I thought it was likely a motor blower issue. they confirmed that they found that the motor blower was not working. they also said the auxillary drain pan was very rusted (like around 2-3 feet of rust on the pan) I like that they documented everything very well and showed and emailed us pictures of what they found in our attic. I felt very comfortable and confident that they were honest and did a good evaluation. They called and had a motor blower and new drain pan delivered from their storage facility and I think the two of them waited outside the house for like 90 minutes for it. I think they came around 1pm, and left around 5 pm after installing everything and left after they made sure the AC was working, including measuring the temperature that came from the AC. In regards to the pricing: It was 2600 to replace the motor and change the drain pan. I did a search on HVAC subreddit and it seemed like that price was reasonable. My husband and I are very grateful for their prompt service, their handwritten evaluation that not only evaluated the immediate problem, as well as overall health of the AC system we had and the degree of wear and tear on some of the other parts. I feel comfortable recommending this company to friends and other people. Please keep up the good work everyone!
