I have been eyeing Hooch for many years on my Aspen trips and finally went in - boy, have I been missing out! Fun vibes and atmosphere. The staff are all extremely friendly. I love the variety of craft cocktails, especially the "Virgin and a Pornstar". A must-try! The rose drink and whisky drinks were also delicious. Absolutely one of my FAVORITE spots to grab drinks in Aspen! We stopped in at about 6pm on a Wednesday -- it was as dead as a door nail but the conversation with the bartender and the ambiance made it such a cool experience. I can imagine when it's busier, it's probably SUCH a cool vibe to rub shoulders with the people who would pop in here. The vibe is immaculate!!! Love all of the unique wall art, the velvet seats, and the chandeliers hanging everywhere. It's at basement level, so even during the day it feels dark and moody in the bar. It's actually a huge spot! So plenty of different seating options for individuals, dates or groups! Brendan was bartending at the time and he was lovely!!! Super unique and delicious bar in aspen that's a must visit! We had the quiet town in Tokyo, kung fu Kenny, spread your legs, and sexy weekend. The quiet town in Tokyo was my favorite and was super creamy and delicious and if you love Asian herbal flavors and gin you'll love this one. The spread your legs was a spicy marg that had a strong cucumber and cilantro flavor which could be too much for some people. The foam on top was cool. I also tried the kung fu Kenny and the sexy weekends. The king fu Kenny was so good too and was a good whiskey cocktail. The sexy weekend was a really unique cocktail and I'd never had anything like it before. All the drinks we had were great and the bartenders were so nice and friendly. Love this subterranean bar. It's dark, it's great looking and yes, cocktails are craft. Although most restaurants in Aspen have great and innovative cocktails, there isn't a dedicated bar for them... except for Hooch. They take drinks seriously here. I believe we had The Wolf of Wall Street and a Notorious F.I.G., an incredible tiki cocktail. Bartenders are chill, friendly and thoughtful. The only thing I would change, is I'd call the bar just Hooch. You wouldn't call your hotel "boutique hotel" or Foodie Restaurant, right? It would be even cooler if they dropped the "Craft"! This speakeasy is perfection and my inner prohibition spirit loved the entryway location, the fact it's actually in the basement, and it's true homage to the concept. They offer a few small bites and a limited food menu; however, I was thinking alcohol. Once I found out they did tableside drinks, I WAS SOLD. My boyfriend learned a different side of me on both trips we made to Hooch in 48 hours. This is definitely the place to go if you are wanting some sort of 'nightlife' activity in Aspen. Aspen is a very quiet town so during off season there really isn't much going on and most of the shops close early. We decided to go here because of the reviews and were not disappointed. The cocktails are not only good, but they have funny names too! My favorite was the margarita - which was called the 'spread your legs' lol! They also had one that was called Bitch better have my money, or something referencing Rhianna which I thought was creative. The ambiance is very bar-like, but still cute. It was dark inside but the furniture was really unique and different. If we stayed longer we would have gone here again! The Australian barkeep looks like the chick from Blue Crush. She was cool, quick and helpful. The Grey goose vodkas were refreshing. There were lots of cocktail options if you are an uppity batch. Sitting and drinking outside was clutch, because outdoor drunk people-watching in Aspen is safe (no hoodrats exist in Aspen), even at night, and there are tons of people rolling through. Awesome cocktail bar and the only good cocktail bar in downtown Aspen. The vibe and drinks are trendy and fun. Find Hooch at a door on the side door of Meat & Cheese. They have a sign over the door too. From there travel down the stairs and into the cool lounge. Hooch is dark and relaxed with several seating areas, a bar, and a couple of tables. We went for one of the couches both times and it was very comfortable. The bartender that served us both nights was friendly and attentive. Both nights he was the only employee working, but was an excellent multi-tasker. He continued to provide great service even as the lounge started to fill up. I loved the four drinks we tried at Hooch. Per the bartender drinks are all well balanced, but can be prepared with some changes if preferred. None of the cocktails will be on the sweet side so if that is your jam ask about changing up the ingredients. I prefer strong liquors in my cocktails and found all of the drinks perfect as they were. Every drink is beautifully presented as well. The Debonair- nice Bourbon flavor with a little bitter and a little sweet on the back from the other ingredients The Last Rose of Oaxaca- the lemon and strawberry gave a hint of sweetness at first taste and finished smoky from the Mezcal, enjoying this drink was a bit like smoking a cigar, yum! Mezcolada- not your overly sweet colada, a little sweet, but the smokiness of the Mezcal balanced the sweet perfectly Just My Type- great blend of tequila, passion fruit, lime, and bitters which tasted at first almost like grapefruit A must taste and experience if visiting Aspen. I have been to Aspen a handful of times and never know what to expect when I go out. We came into town for a concert and stopped in for a drink after. They are connected to a club that wasn't really our scene. The drinks are typical Aspen prices, upward of $20, but even at the price this place was not pretentious and the ambiance and music is some of the best I have ever experienced in Colorado. To walk into a place in Aspen and hear Meek Mill, Drake, Lil Wayne, Boyz II Men, etc. and sit on a leather couch, surrounded by beautiful grown people, chilling with your friends in an environment where you can also hear each other talk, just hasn't existed in my 10 plus years traveling to every mountain town in Colorado. Whoever was on the music Friday night was on fire! Perfect spot for a night cap or a fun night out! read more

We had dinner reservation at 8:30pm and decided to get drinks at Hooch before hand. I loved the ambiance of this place the moment we walked in. The menu is incredible and each cocktail seems to be better than the other. It took us a little awhile before finalizing our decision. We decided to order a round of The Last Rose of Oaxaca and Sweep the Leg (tribute to Cobra Kai?). The cocktails really had some complex flavors with touch of smokiness. I loved it! Fiancé loved my drink "The Last Rose of Oaxaca" and decided to order for the next round. I chose to go with the Mezcolada on the second round. This drink made me feel like I was at the beach on a hot summer day. I would have given this bar 5 stars if it didn't charge 4% convenience fee for all credit card transactions. Given the pandemic, most businesses are going cashless so this was a total surprise. I hope the business decides to change this in the future. read more

Wanted to like this place, seemed like a cool vibe, but have never been treated so poorly in a bar in my life. The two male bartenders serving on Friday 2/24 were unbelievably rude and dismissive to my girlfriend and me, and at least three other groups of women at the bar, causing us to leave. I honestly never leave yelp review, but there was just no way I could let this go. My girlfriend even went up and tried to tell the host to let him know, but he acted like this wasn't an issue. I hate to review this place as it's THE BOMB and I don't want it to get too crowded. Quinn and Sean are both AWESOME bartenders and cocktail mix masters. They know how to make or pour you exactly what you need at any given moment. The music is awesome!! A mix of down tempo alt rock, electronica fills the room at a manageable level until around 10pm when crowds roll in and the volume cranks up. Really chill vibe here. You might think this is more upscale based on the prices and reviews, but this is chill. Come in your sweatshirt and beanie and fit right in. Or come dressed for dinner. Both work in thiS place. Overall, we liked it here. I had The Last Rose which i really liked at first but toward the end it became too sweet for my preference. After that I got The Sun Also Rises. The drink sounded fun, and I'm going through a Hemingway phase. But I didn't love it. It was too....fruity? Juicy? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it wasn't spirit forward. I was drinking it slowly. The bartender asked what I thought of the drink, and I was hOnest - not my fav. He happily switched the drink for something more spirit forward which ended up being the maple old fashioned (named the monk something). Hubs had an old fashioned and a beer. Liked them both. Great cocktails!! Only negative was a mocktail situation. The alcoholic cocktail was $22 (not uncommon for Aspen or bougie places in general) and then our driver ordered the drink as a mocktail and it was $20. I had to say to the waiter, as principal, that that was a little ridiculous. Cocktail to mocktail...$2? I said I'd order a round of shots for the bar if it's only $2 a shot. The manager came over and apologized and comped the mocktail. Other than that, we love it there....just look at your bill. read more
