If your goal is an energetic night out with friends and perhaps the possibility of spotting a celebrity or two, the venue succeeds well enough as a social scene. Like many Aspen nightlife destinations, however, the experience improves considerably after a drink or two elsewhere first. The atmosphere has potential, but the space itself feels oddly underutilized, lacking the intentional flow and layered ambiance that define truly memorable bars. Cocktails are priced ambitiously even by Aspen standards, occasionally crossing the line to difficult to justify. The bouncer is the most awful disrespectful person I've ever met in my entire life. Been in aspen for most of my life and about to turn 24. The bouncer stood there and laughed at us until we called the cops and had to get it checked. We had so much fun! Craig was our bartender and he was hands-down our favorite bartender of the entire week out of all the bars we went to in town. He was so attentive which really contributed to the atmosphere and our overall experience at Silver City. Even when it got busy, he was always on top of everything. Went here on a whim one weekend and had the best time. Cowboy hats everywhere. It was such a vibe. Positivity all around. Queued songs on the jukebox and literally stayed dancing until we were kicked out! The staff was so kind and fun and amazing. And there was pool in the back room! The blonde bartender from UC Santa Cruz was cool as ish. She was chatty and gave us insights on deelish cocktails to order. The spot, itself, is cavernous and dark AF. My husband and I spent 1 night in Aspen and If you don't go skiing or snowboarding there really isn't much for you to do. Luckily we found this bar that has super friendly staff, really good bartenders and delicious food! I can't remember our bartenders name but he was really nice and made some awesome drinks! We ate the chips and salsa, the pretzels, and the grilled cheese which were all very tasty! There is a pool table, a juke box, and a small dance floor. Disrespectful and ride bouncer took my ID (turning 29) and then taunted us about it until the cops came.(he's the one in all black) Showed him passport photo, TSA, ETC and instead he went on a power trip and made a cop come out of his way to scan it only for it to be real. Not to mention the rest of the family also had the same New Jersey IDs. Was there two nights before! Bouncer was berating us and laughing about it. Horrible establishment. I used to love this place and came here often. I take friends who come visit from out of town here all the time. Tonight after playing and paying for the game , which I thought was a friendly game of billiards our opponent who lost became extremely hostile. I was pushed against the pool table when simply trying to mediate an escalating situation. I walked away to leave the bar in confusion and fear when the bartender followed me out and told me to leave because (his friends) the people scamming people out of their money on the pool table went there more than I did. He told me he knew them, they were his friends. So even though they lost and he agreed that they lost AND pushed me, I was somehow in the wrong. I didn't touch anyone or even raise my voice. I just left. As I was leaving to avoid any further issues and because it's just not worth it. It's just a game. I was really disappointed in the bartender, he following me to intimidate me over his friend's loss. There's no need for that. I was leaving after being pushed. What's the point in that sir? Several older adults approached me outside and said they had paid for games they never got to play. My opponent had pocketed the money for the game and never allowed them to play. We're not the only ones who were treated this way and it's truly disappointing. I even asked the bartender calmly to check his cameras and see what his friends were up to, however he told me no and that he believed them without having to look at the cameras. Aspen is such a beautiful friendly place and those hostile people are ruining it. I really think management should train their staff in mediating issues instead of allowing their friends to attack other patrons over the loss of a silly game. What's going on here? Everyone should be treated equally. Not be robbed, attacked, and then be followed out in an intimidating fashion. read more

Love this bar! Went after dinner on a summer weeknight and it was quiet and calm. The bartender was amazing, super cool guy. Gave us some great insider tips on Aspen activities. Silver city it's typically a great bar, especially for locals in Aspen, however they have hired a new bouncer who goes out of his way to cause problems with most people he interacts with, without being provoked. When we walked to the door we were met with him screaming "get in line mother******" and then questioned my ID and made a comment about my appearance after a very rude interaction. This is by no means a reflection on the staff but to have 1 bartender on a Friday night is absolutely ridiculous. She was doing her best but was clearly overwhelmed. My friends (group of 4 girls) waited over 10 minutes to even order. The mixed drinks were awful. The skinny margaritas were so sour and the pink lady tasted very chemically. Not what I was expecting based on the reviews from before. Had a great time here a few days before New Years. This is a huge improvement over the past iterations of this spot. When I first started coming to Aspen this place was Shooters and was a bit of a dump. A charming dump and one where I had lots of fun nights, but a dump nonetheless. Silver City did a great job with the makeover and now the space is significantly improved with brighter lighting, a warm atmosphere, live music, and lots of wood and stone tones to make it feel cozy. The cocktail list and beer selection are solid, with prices that aren't too crazy (for Aspen). I ordered my favorite whiskey for $11, which was a good deal, a heavy pour, and no more expensive than it would be in Denver. We'll definitely be back! read more

This is a hole in the ground spot in downtown Aspen, located in the basement of the elks lodge building. If you're looking for a chill spot to grab a drink and maybe shoot some pool, this is the place. The decor is very mine-shaft-esque - comfy. The menu is whiskey heavy, but they have something to please everyone. Where do I even begin with this charming downtown watering hole? Some friends and I went for live music on a Friday and it quickly became my favorite bar in Aspen. The music, the drinks, the service, the decor, the vibe...it was all spot on and was the best way to spend a Friday night after a long day of skiing. I used to live in this charming mountain town and love basically everything about it. The live music scene (aside from Belly Up) has never been one to write home about but that has changed now that Silver City is in business. They had this awesome 5 piece band which even included a violinist (my favorite) and they covered jams that had the whole crowd dancing. I felt like I was in the winter version of Nashville! The whiskey selection is insane (my husband appreciated this) and the craft cocktails are unique and delicious. We will definitely make this a staple when we visit my favorite place. What was once Shooters, the The Regal, the Whiskey Rush, is now Silver City. And I'm happy to say that this appears to be the best incarnation yet! Gone is the cheesy dance floor soaked in spilled beer and sweat. In its place, there is now a warm, welcoming bar with a pool table at the back and a great whiskey and cocktail list. We went with a group of 10 on a Saturday night and easily found seats in one of the big, cozy booths. There was live music, attentive service, and something for everyone on the menu. (My husband was happy to be able to order the Laws Four Grain, a quality whiskey from a super cool Denver distiller, which was served in a nice pour over a large rock.) From Colorado beer to creative cocktails, this place has it all. A great update on a place that has needed a makeover for some time. read more
