This is my favorite bar in Fresno…read more What I like about Sandy's Place is the diversity of characters you often find here (which is not the same as ethnic diversity, because this is mostly a Latino bar, although I'm white and have never felt out of place. Ultimately, Fresno is a Latino town, so it goes with the territory). What I mean to say is, it is not uncommon to find someone who could easily be a grandmother share the dance floor with someone who could easily be a chollo. Everybody is welcome here. Also, the dance floor is surprisingly good for Fresno. Some nights aren't as poppin' as others, but when it's good, it's damn good. The DJ is pretty solid, he plays a mix of old school hip-hop, funk (Prince-type stuff), and Latin music. Now and then I'll leave the bar and the five-o will be outside. Personally, I've never felt unsafe here and would not let that discourage you from visiting. Really, this place is a gem.

They have plenty of seating at the tables and bar area. We sat at the big circle table when you first walk in. It definitely has a dark and dim lighting to it. They even had someone play live piano around 8pm. It got pretty busy during that time too. I can see why it's a good place to chill at. A nice old lady even came up to us and chatted with our group. Parking is exactly what you'd expect for downtown, so just make sure you lock your car and don't leave anything visible. We went around 5 PM on a Thursday. It started fairly quiet and gradually got busier throughout the evening, but it never felt overcrowded. They do have a rule that if there's a waitlist, your time may be limited to about two hours so they can seat other guests, which is reasonable for a place like this. The drinks were fantastic. I honestly didn't have a bad drink all night. They offer cold drinks, room temperature drinks, hot drinks, and just about every type of spirit you can think of. The cocktails are very creative, and the bartenders will actually warn you ahead of time if a drink has flavors they think you might not like, which I appreciated. The bartenders were excellent and really knew what they were doing. We had a spicy margarita, mojito, whiskey smash, an ube cocktail, and a few others, and all of them were great. Prices were fair for the quality, creativity, and overall experience. Not cheap, but definitely not overpriced either. One thing I really respected was that they had Narcan and fentanyl test strips available on-site. You don't see that often, and it shows they actually care about people's safety. If you're looking for craft cocktails in Fresno, this place is definitely worth visiting. I'll definitely be coming back.

There is music and a few pool tables on site. The place does smell like weed but smoking is prohibited at least from what I can see. Although we sat away from the bar, the bartender, whom is a very nice young lady, walked over to us to make sure if we were ok and if that we need anything else. Although these places are not my type of thing, I would still say it's a good place to hang - for a short period.
