House of JuJu is hands down my absolute favorite place for a burger in Clovis. They nail the burger every time--always incredibly juicy and perfectly cooked. I keep it classic and order the Betsy Ross, sometimes with the bun and other times in a bowl (which is equally just as good), the potatoes are to die for, especially with the spicy garlic sauce. They also have a citrus ice tea that I always have to get a to-go cup for because not only is it absolutely delicious and not too sweet, but they have the good ice too! Employees are great, extremely friendly and always have a smile on their faces. I love that you can enjoy some fresh air on the patio or eat inside either at a table or at the bar. We stopped for lunch after walking through Old Town Clovis. The service was great. They have limited draft beers but I guess they're known for their sangria so I'll have to try that next time! I got the sliders and I was pleasantly surprised but the Betsy Ross and the Calamity Jane. The Athena had very little flavor and was very dry. What a great place for a nice night out with friends. The staff are prep, so nice and friendly our waitress stopped and talked with us for a few minutes which was a nice change from just taking your order and going on to the nxt person. The establishment is super clean and well organized, nice location in downtown Clovis and really beautiful area. The food was great not your normal being burger and fries but potatoe wedges with great tasting house style burgers that was very good flavor. Our waitress was very nice and attentive and really gracious when it came to splitting our meal and how it was plated when brought to the table. I rarely leave reviews for restaurants but after this experience I feel like I need to. This Saturday evening, my family came in to celebrate Mother's Day weekend with my parents, who were visiting from out of town. We chose House of JuJu because we've had positive experiences at the other locations in Visalia and Morro Bay. But this location delivered the complete opposite experience. From the beginning our server Taylor made it abundantly clear through her tone, demeanor, and body language that she did not care to serve us. She rushed us through ordering, answered simple menu questions with curt and dismissive responses, and made everyone at the table uncomfortable. It didn't feel like hospitality, it felt like we were an inconvenience. As someone with years of experience in the restaurant industry and customer service management, I understand how demanding weekends and busy shifts can be. What I don't understand is the lack of professionalism throughout the interaction. There is a difference between being busy or having a bad day and just being straight up disrespectful toward guests. Finally, after the continued passive aggressive behavior and attitude, we requested a different server. Taylor scoffed and walked away and then proceeded to loudly discuss the situation with coworkers within earshot of not only our table, but surrounding tables as well. Multiple employees then stared toward our table while this was happening. While a manager did apologize, there was ultimately no real attempt to recover the experience. No one meaningfully took over the table, checked on us, or made any effort to restore a welcoming environment after the situation. The apology felt procedural rather than genuine. Unfortunately, this experience was enough to ensure we will not be returning to this location. read more

The staff was friendly, and the menu looked delicious. We ordered sangrias, sliders (for my friend), and a turkey burger, which was recommended by the waitress. The potatoes were great, and the dipping sauces, especially the kalamata olive, were a delightful surprise. I couldn't finish my turkey burger and took half home. Unfortunately, I found what appeared to be a bone in the burger, which chipped my tooth. It happened near the end of my meal. I contacted them via their website last week but haven't received a response. I've never encountered this in a turkey burger before, so I'd like an explanation. Brittany was taking care of me, she did a great job! I got a hard cider and a burger. The cider was an Angry Orchard. It's not bad, just not the best out there. The burger was awesome! Back again for my annual Mango sangria and loaded potatoes. Happy hour is between 3-6pm so my sangria was $3 off and the loaded potatoes was $2 off. I decided to try a hot dog this trip. Never in my life would I order a hot dog and especially one costing $8 but wow, this hit dog was so dang good. They slide the hot dog in half on a brioche hot dog bun. It eats more like a sandwich. I would order it again. I also got the loaded potatoes again. You can never go wrong with any of their roasted potatoes. I tried the garlic sauce and it was tasty with the potatoes. I love that everytime we come here, their homemade desserts are never the same but still just as delicious. This round one party guest ordered the Reese's Cheesecake. I was a long time patron of House of Juju. I first ate there in 2015 when they were still located at the DeWitt Building in Old Town Clovis. It was phenomenal! The burgers were unique and the taste was extraordinary, in addition the oaxaca covered fingerling potatoes were soooo good and totally unexpected. And when they moved to the new building and the old restaurant turned into Papa's Place with different menu offerings was a nice surprise. However the last two visits left me highly disappointed. The burgers had no flavor what so ever. I attempted to order a Calamity Jane (Sweet & smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, crispy apple wood smoked bacon), burger in a bowl without greens. But the waitress said she would put it in as a bunless burger. When my order came out it was on a lettuce leaf. I asked for a side of BBQ sauce as the menu states you can get a dipping sauce with the meal. She told me I needed to put that in when I placed my order. My side was a cup of Papa's chili. The chili tasted just like Stagg chili out of a can, it tasted nothing like the Papa's chili I had gotten at Papa's Place. Then when paying the bill I used a House of Juju gift card, and the balance with a visa gift card (they were going to expire) which I was told they do not except. Juju can be quite busy as is it a popular brunch location, so get in early as the parking lot does get packed. The ambiance is very open and the volume can be average or loud depending on the customers there, but the music selection they have is a quite nice. Our server was amazing and made sure to spoil us with her attentiveness. The food came out fresh and hot and if you think the pictures look amazing, the flavor packs a punch! The bleu cheese burger was juicy with the cheese packing a wallop to contrast with that crispy bacon. The flat bread isn't your typical flat bread as it is coated with plenty of sauce and plenty of bacon to share with the entire neighborhood. Flavor explosion left and right! What caught my most by surprise is the sangria, it's a fruity fizzy sangria which had the perfect balance of both. Great drink to compliment the two dishes on my table. Quality of service is hit or miss here. I feel like I've had the same server treat me really well, but also treat me really off. It was a lovely older woman who I liked, but she made a comment. One of the last times I had been in that struck me a little weird. A comment about my eating habits. It was when I had ordered the mushroom burger, and maybe she had remembered. I had ordered the bison before and made a weird comment about how she didn't wanna mess up my order as if I would make a big fuss over it It made me feel a little uncomfortable, even though she had given me really good service the time prior to that. Aside from that, I think house of juju is one of the good gems that we have in Clovis and I would go again. They have really good choices of cider. I really like the ace drinks that they have there. I enjoy sitting bar top there, but they do have a lovely outdoor area as well. A great spot for a quick drink and a bite after work. Note, they sell beer and wine here. Their menu is upscale bar food, but don't take that as a knock because the menu here is delicious and you MUST get their house potatoes with all the dipping sauces. I ordered the burger in a bowl, which is a great option if you are trying to watch your carbs or you're gluten free. This bowl is a massive burger patty served on top of fresh greens. There's also a smattering of blue cheese crumbles, bacon, and sautéed onions in the mix. I got mine minus the blue cheese and it was delicious. The table also shared a couple orders of their JuJu House potatoes. I believe these are baked and then fried; large cube cut potatoes. Of course, we got all the sauces with them. The chipotle sauce was amazing, but the star of the show was this beet mx or maybe blueberry sauce. What ever it was, it was purple and I couldn't stop eating! I'm gonna be cringe right now, but I'm a sauce boss and I'm proud of it. There were six of us here for dinner and we got seated fairly quickly. The place got very busy right as we were sat, around 5:45ish on Thursday. I would recommend making a reservation if you're a large party. They have plenty of room inside with two separate seating areas, one within the bar area and a dining room. There's also an outdoor patio that looks onto Pollasky Ave. and once the weather cools down will be a great dining spot. Stopped in for dinner last night. It was the perfect evening ... beautiful cool weather, table on the patio, slow Sunday evening with little to not traffic on Pollasky. I ordered the Dragon Lady salad with chicken, my guy ordered the calamity Jane burger with tri-colored potatoes. Enjoyed the crunchiness of my salad and that it was not overdressed with salad dressing. My favorite was the crunchy wonton and the pickled onions. I wished the onions were more thinly sliced and there were more of them as I would have liked to have that flavor in every bite. Overall the salad was good. My guy enjoyed his burger (cheese, BBQ sauce, grilled onions ... though he removed them, and bacon). He shared his potatoes with me which we both enjoyed. Cooked perfectly. We were provided two dipping sauces ... one a light orange and the other a darker orange. The lighter didn't seem to have any flavor, liked the darker one. We also ordered dessert. We tried the cherry cheesecake (very good) and the chocolate peanut butter cake. Our waitress was attentiv and friendly. Overall, good experience. Usually when I eat avocado burgers, I could hardly taste them, but the Leticia burger... it's hard not to miss the avocado flavor Next time I'll try the Leticia in a salad bowl(the lettuce wrap is also a great alternative too.) JuJu is located in old town Clovis, I would recommend parking behind the restaurant rather than out on the streets(as it could get busy.)
