I was honestly pretty excited to try this place out after our last trip to Branson and made a point to eat here this time after a truly delicious experience at another pizza place nearby. I also was surprised to see that Dave Portnoy had recently been here (not that I care about his opinion) but it added another level of intrigue. Unfortunately my visit the other day did not nearly live up to the hype. Where do I start... The service? Unorganized. The staff? Lacking people skills. The food? One pizza was pretty terrible (1) and the other was a 4 at best, and the appetizer was completely forgotten about despite being asked about at least 3 times. My experience with the staff was interesting because after I swiped my card and plugged in a pre-service tip, she just walked away to deliver pizzas to the dining area with out a word being said. Literally nothing, as we stood there looking silly with our cups and table flag on the counter and the receipt hanging out of the machine. So I grabbed our stuff and went to find a table. Within a matter of 2 minutes the same person ventured out to the dining area carrying what I assume was our appetizer and walked around asking several tables if it was theirs. Finally one table (who looked equally confused) went ahead an accepted it. Then in a matter of another 2-3 minutes a pizza came out to which the waitress asked if it was ours. I thought this was impossibly fast but we verified the toppings and she placed it on our table and asked if we needed anything else. I informed her that there was supposed to be another pizza as well as an appetizer. She went to check on that and returned with another pizza and said she would check on the app. Within about another 3 minutes when we all were still working on our first slice each she returned and asked if we needed a box. I told her that eventually we would but we were just getting started and were still waiting on our appetizer. After that she didn't stop by the table again until we were done, and I flagged her down to asked for a box and reminded her again about the app. I even had to show her what we ordered on the receipt because she looked pretty confused about the whole thing. After that we didn't see her again, and a different person came out from the back and presented our appetizer in a to go box. She was very nice and apologetic, but still it was too little too late. On to the food... As mentioned above the first pizza was pretty terrible. For starters there was no sauce. Literally no sauce at all just the dehydrated remains of where it once was burned to the dry, cheese-less parts of the crust whose rim was every bit of 2.5 -3 inches. It had a decent amount of pepperoni which was used as a base for the scarce amount of cheese and bacon bits, so as soon as you picked up a slice everything fell off. Not slid off like you are probably imagining with an over sauced or extra cheesy slice, but fell off the bread in a dry floppy flat lump. The toppings were completely separate from the crust with no binder whatsoever. All that was left on the crust underneath was the pepperoni oil which had soaked into it, aiding in the separation. It was really bad. The second pizza was a plain cheese one. It was much better and this time no issues with the topping. It also was MUCH hotter than the first one which was really odd to me. This example was considerably more flavorful and more on par with what I was initially expecting. That other one however literally was like someone made a pizza, cooked it halfway, then wiped all the toppings and sauce off and filled the parbaked void with a full layer of pepperoni, then bacon and cheese. It was like a topping transplant from a pizza that was made wrong. The Garlic Cheese breadsticks which we tried in the car on the drive home were okay, but only like the middle 3.5 were covered in cheese with the outer 2+ sticks almost completely bare. Also it appears that the sticks are pre-frozen ones that are covered with "fresh" garlic spread and cheese. Its either that or the person making them is really good at making them to a uniform size and shape. Doesn't really matter because they simply weren't that great. The only positive thing about the food was the crust on the cheese pizza, but even that isn't saying much. So all in all it was a pretty bad experience. I'm still having a hard time understanding what happened with the first pizza's assembly as well as the odd / clearly unorganized service. Also the pizza(s) came out impossibly fast which makes me wonder how staged or preprepared these are before ordering. Because of all of this I can't honestly say that I'll be back, especially when there are far better options just across the Taneycomo. read more

We really enjoyed the Super Pizza. It had everything on it! The crust was excellent. Lots of cheese! You order as soon as you walk in, get a number and sit down. It took about 20 minutes to get our pizza. They were very busy because it was the Grape Fest, but service was fast. Would definitely go again when in the area! read more

Came here after hearing about how great this place is, the tables/ seats were dirty and we had to wipe them off. Service was okay, the pizza was good ,nothing to write home about. The drinks were a different story. The cups smelled of bleach and one smelt of rotten eggs. So we ended up asking for to go cups and staff didn't seem to care The lemons on the counter were brown. Amazingly diverse menu; order at the counter, and listen to the advice of the friendly employees! We got 'small' pizzas, and they were great for me (hungry adult male) - but my wife would've been OK w a 'mini' size pizza. The Taco Pizza is a unique HIT; fantastic! The pizza was horrible. It was never this bad before but just keeps getting worse! One was the Hawaiian, the other was the veggie with sausage added. Veggie tasted like canned/pickled vegetables . We picked up 2 large pizzas, a cheese and a pepperoni/sausage, a chicken pasta, a Hawaiian calzone, and 3 cinnamon rolls. After reading the reviews and looking at the pictures, we were thinking it would be a great dinner. We were pretty disappointed. The pasta was bland, the calzone was "decent" but was more like a baked pizza folded in half after it was cooked. The pizzas were decent, but certainly not a standout delicious pizza. Decided to try this place out because we are a fire and police family. From the second we walked in it was red flag after red flag. First we got there an hour after it opened and heard they were already out of breadsticks and pepperoni. Two things we planned on ordering. Ok fine, so we decided to order mozzarella sticks and a small cheese and small sausage. Go to sit down and the cups they gave us were dirty I had to go ask for a clean cup and when my husband went to grab silverware there was like gray goo on it. The place itself was also so dirty. Filthy walls, tables not wiped down and the Parmesan cheese shakers were so gummed up and looked like they haven't been cleaned in years. The pizza was mediocre and the mozzarella sticks were still cold. Very unfortunate experience because I had heard many people suggest this place. We were craving pizza and didn't want to drive into Branson on New Year's Day. So....I talked myself into trying Hook & Ladder again. Even though I said never again, I gave them another opportunity because I really like supporting local businesses when I'm in the area. The pizzas were good, hot, and tasty. One pizza was a veggie with Canadian bacon added and the other was all different types of meat. Both were very good. The crust was the regular and very good but next time I might try the thin crust for comparison. The dining area was clean even though the place was packed with families since it was holiday vacation time. Service was good. The young woman on the cash register was a little flustered, but the phone was ringing and people were waiting to order, pick-up, and pay. So that was understandable that she had her hands full. We were highly encouraged to try this by my father's wife. We shall start at the front. The girl who greeted us asked for my id when ordered a beer. Im very obviously not under thirty. The truck was locked, i decided i would just have a coke and respect they are following procedure. Husband orders beer. she did not card him and barely looked when he held it out-expecting her to need it. The other girl who was helping another couple- similar age group as my husband and myself- never asked for their id when they got beers. If it policy to card, then do it. i wasn't offended that i was carded until i realized she was not following policy, but being a brat just to be a brat. Next, we ordered a pizza and cheese sticks. Went to a table and found it dirty. All the tables were. Not wiped. Not even dusted off. The bread sticks were barely heated and obviously just stock frozen sticks they stuck heavy garlic unsalted butter and a handful of cheese on. Generic, bland, and barely heated. The pizza was also rather generic, bland, and not really worth finishing- which we did not. The ambience. It's themed. My husband's brother is a former officer as well as a former EMT. We love the idea and the purpose of support. It being a tourist area- we had a few more rambunctious groups come in. One group started doing a very awkward fashion show with the gear. Had it been a little less obnoxious- it would not have effected our lunch. By then, we were already convinced we were not coming back and left. This being tourist area- i would suggest stepping up game on the food and cleaning. if you card- card. not one person because you want to. After hiking, we wanted a beer and pizza-this place did not disappoint! It was about a 15 min drive from state marina and parking on the street was easy. Maybe we were lucky with the timing but either way, we loved it! Our son got a small cheese pizza and we got a medium "meat" pizza. The food was hot and perfect! The staff were super friendly and wonderful. We also loved how many different stations, ie police, fire, etc had their badges all along the wall. Really fun place with a great vibe! Loved the authentic firefighting decor and the invitation to try on the gear. Super fun. The pizza offerings were decent, though mostly meat based with very few veggies--which was a little disappointing since many in our group would've liked spinach or other fresh veg on their pizza. But the bacon was delicious, the meatballs tender, and the proportions generous despite the mushrooms being canned instead of fresh. Super fast service, though, and we especially loved the hot honey on the table for the crust! The Caesar salad was pretty good too. We always look for local joints because they typically have something unique to their crust, toppings, or sauce. The sauce was decent. Too much cheese. Banana peppers had the taste of coming out of a jar. Mushrooms also had the taste of coming from a can. Pizza #2 3.5 out of 5.0 Crust was good but thick. 4.5 stars on little gem in the heart of Hollister. We received 5 star service from the young man who helped us. You could just tell he wanted to do the very best job possible. The firefighter themed decor was unique and fun. We enjoyed looking at all the patches on the walls and trying to find the nearest and farthest. They even have gear you can try on if you want to. Fun atmosphere and really solid pizza. Came here with my best friend, in the midst of an area golf trip. Jonesing for a slice of pie and heard good things about this place. Wait staff had a great attitude and was patient as we worked our way through the menu. We ended up ordering a Caesar salad and toasted ravioli appetizers to share, then a meat lovers pizza. The Caesar salad was easy for two people to share, consisting of mixed greens, croutons and shredded mozzarella cheese topped with their slightly creamy dressing. Toasted ravs came out piping hot with plenty to go around and of course a tangy marinara dipping sauce. The pizza was thin crust style (just how we both like it) topped with their homemade sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, beef, pork sausage, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon and bacon. Whew! A small pie (after those other dishes) was just the right size for our meal. Would love to come back and give some other pies (and sandwiches) a try. read more

Fire station theme throughout. Great staff and even better pizza. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants while here in Branson and this one I would have to say is the best. This pizza Is extraordinary. Everyone in our party agrees at how good the pizza was. I got a calzone, everyone else built their own pizza. You walk in and order your pizza, mini, small, med, large You get to serve yourself at a soda fountain, sadly no diet Dr Pepper. Pick your table and they bring the pizza to you. In case you look, the Austin Fire Department patch is to your left behind you when you face the counter down low. The other one is directly above center of the exit door in the dining area. I gave them one of those 8 years ago. Plugerville is above the window on the back right when walking in dining area. Come visit and get some of the best pizza around. Firefighters from all over the US have eaten here and left there patch. This really is great tasting pizza. read more
