I took my family here on our last day in Branson. It was a rainstorm happening outside. I dropped my family off at the door and had to park far away due to business. Upon our arrival, we were told the restaurant wait was 45 minutes, which is bad when you have two young kids. I told my wife we should find somewhere else to go. The person in charge immediately went to the kitchen to see if they could handle our order. We were then seated immediately. I have never had a restaurant go out of their way to accommodate us like that. The food was delicious. We ordered 16oz Kansas strips and they were cooked to perfection. I ordered mashed potatoes and cheesy corn as sides. The cheesy corn was the best corn I've ever had and I highly recommend. I highly recommend Shephard's Mill restaurant to anyone who is traveling to Branson, MO. read more

In Branson on vacation June 2026. We were headed to a different place for breakfast and we saw the sign so we pulled in to Shepherd's Grill. My only advice, don't even bother to stop. It's more of a snack bar than a restaurant. Extremely limited breakfast selections and they were out of a couple of the things we tried to order. I may need to update my review of this place after we've given it another shot, assuming that we do. That said, here's how our visit went. I should start by saying that we arrived fairly late, I'd say within the last 40-50 minutes that they were open. We didn't realize that we arrived so late inside the restaurant as it took a while to park and make our way inside. When we arrived and made our way to the ordering/checkout stand to place our order, the guy just stared at us and didn't even say a word. No hello or anything. The vibe he gave us was very "go away," even though he didn't actually say that of course. We asked if it was OK if we order and he grunted out what we thought was a "yes." I have to say that I am incredibly disappointed with the fact that this is the type of place where you go up and order your food and then sit down. Seems like a missed opportunity by them not having table service. It felt very much like a concession stand that happened to be outside of a gift shop. When trying to figure out what to order, we had a few questions for the young kid running the register. The entire time he's barely speaking a word, so it was incredibly awkward and irritating. We order our food and my husband had to ask another question, which he either did not hear or just deliberately ignored. When our food comes out, it's delivered to the table and we tried to eat quickly so we could get out of their hair. For a restaurant that's tied to a tourist trap, we did not feel welcome at all. Now, I'm not an idiot, I know we showed up within the last hour of their day, but come on, this is a tourist spot. I feel like the staff should've been a little more gracious. If this had been my business, I would be appalled at how my customers were being treated, no matter what time they arrived. On another note, the older gentleman out in the parking lot that was driving the tram from the restaurant area to the parking lot area was an absolute delight. We did not even ride the tram and I can tell you that the man driving it really enjoys what he does. He was so polite and friendly, even when we declined the ride. Kudos to that guy for providing excellent customer service. Anyway, back to the restaurant. I ordered the shepherds pie, which was actually pretty good. It came out hot as blue blazes Dallas though lol, so I had to keep blowing on it to cool it off. If we do end up giving this restaurant another shot, I would be happy to order the same thing again. My husband was not a fan of his food though. I can't recall what he ordered. We both tried the baked beans and they were pretty good. Anyway, I'm tired as I'm writing this so it's probably going to come off a bit jumbled. Short story long, we will likely try this place again at some point in the future since we are local and also plan on checking out the Shepherd of the Hills activities. That said, customer service could use some improvement in the restaurant itself. read more

The fried green tomatoes were the best ! The coleslaw was good. The bbq beans were good . The roll was fresh. But the ribs were old , dried and burnt ! My brisket was also old and dry . The pulled pork was good. I think they are using yesterday's meat because they are slower on the weekday ??? The cashier was fantastic and seemed very caring ! I've been in Branson for four days now, and this parking lot has been full every time we drove by. We stopped on a Wednesday morning for breakfast before golf; the place was almost empty; we were seated quickly by a very friendly hostess; drinks and ordered were taken and delivered quickly; the food was very good (I cannot remember exactly what breakfast was labeled on the menu, but it consisted of bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast). We decided to stop for dinner after golf and this was just as wise a choice. Although the parking lot was packed again, we discovered it was more because of other venues and not the restaurant. We were seated quickly again (at the exact same table); the host informed us they we're running short-staffed so the wait might be a little longer; but it wasn't very bad at all. There was not much food for a very high price. The parking lot was blocked off for an event to happen the next day leaving no easy access for a handicapped person such as myself. I was so excited when I heard that the Shepherd of their Hills reopened a restaurant. I remember as a child coming out to Branson and we always ate breakfast there. Went there this morning. We were seated and the hostess told us that it was their Sunday Brunch. We should have asked how much it was, or I should have asked what was on the buffet, or if there was a menu I could order from. We had NO IDEA it was $25 per person until they gave us our ticket. It was not posted anywhere. $25 per person! WHAT?!? I figured eh, brunch buffet it'll probably be $12. I never ever dreamed it would be $25! The buffet was a simple garden salad, pancakes (they were burnt to the bottom of the buffet pan and were completely nonedible), scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links (these were really good!), biscuits, gravy, breaded chicken patties, green beans, beef loin, and mashed potatoes. The desserts were cherry and peach pie, assortment of cookies, pecan bars, and some fruit cups. Now if you want to do a $25 brunch buffet that's fine. Just make sure that you tell people the price BEFORE they sit down or go up to the buffet. Also, amp up that buffet. Make an omelet station or waffle station. Serve some quiches or lobster tails. I can eat this buffet in the cafeteria at the hospital I work at. There was nothing special. Or what I'd personally like better is a menu and you order your typical eggs, hash browns, pancakes for 10 bucks. That way I'm not wasting food or over spending. Personally I'm frugal and I don't need to stuff myself with a buffet. However if you are going to do a buffet and charge that much then make sure it's worth it. I really hope that they get it together soon because I LOVE Shepherd of the Hills and want to give them my business. I always try to make it to see their shows and do their trail rides. I just hated feeling so duped today. That's not the way to do business. It was just so dishonest. It felt so shady. I was so disappointed today. My husband and I are out of town on Thanksgiving and searched for a place that was open. We saw that this place was open and took reservations. We have never had a worse Thanksgiving meal in our lives! It was like we were caught in a bad dream. When we walked in, there was no one to seat us or give directions as the people piled up behind us waiting to get in, my husband finally went and asked the lady cleaning tables and she flippantly pointed us across the room and said to see the lady in the black shirt. The turkey was that rolled kind. Were they mix white and dark together; it was stone cold. The green beans were horrid. The whole meal was awful. it's Thanksgiving for crying out loud you can have real butter for your rolls I mean literally nothing was homemade, either go the extra yard for Thanksgiving, or don't open up! Loved this country restaurant! It's near the old Shepard of the Hills, which the still do the famous outdoor play. It's been bought out, and they added crafts, restaurant & kids petting zoo, and adventure park. What an improvement! The food was a good as Granny would have made! My husband Dennis had the Onion rings wrapped in bacon topped with queso & drizzled with barbecue sauce. Yummm! I had the BLTA with coleslaw They have refreshing Root Beer! Had the unfortunate opportunity to eat here Christmas night for the buffet. The service was nonexistent. We were given our first drinks, had to track someone down for a refill on a drink and when they brought it, they set it down over plates that needed to be cleared. Now for the food, which was dry tasteless and In "steam pans that were so full of water that they spilled over the sides. The salad bar consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, peaches, cottage cheese and something that was orange which I assumed was some sort of carrot salad. Even the dinner roles were hard and dry. No one in our party could finish their dinner. When checking out an voicing displeasure with the service and food, we were charged full price, our card was processed and then was told that had we shared that we didn't like the meal before paying we could have gotten our money refunded. I'm not even sure how that works. Please do yourself a favor, if buffet is all they have to offer, save your money and go elsewhere. This was our first time to this restaurant. The restaurant is kind of hard to see from the road and once you turn in, it's hard to tell if it is open or not. Inside is super cute and decorated nicely. We were seated right away but once we ordered, it took over 45 minutes to get our food. Let me explain that it was not busy at all and our waitress only came back once to check on us but she never mentioned why it was taking so long. I will tell you that we stayed because we read the reviews and most mentioned that service wasn't good but food was??? When we finally received our food, the portions were good and it tasted good! It ended up being worth the wait and I hope they get it to where service and food is good. I would suggest putting open signs in the window. read more

We chose this restaurant because of favorable reviews. My adult son chose the appetizer with baked French fries covered in BBQ pulled pork and cheese coated in BBQ sauce. It filled an entire dinner plate and he loved it as his meal. If ordered as an appetizer, it would have been enough for at least two persons! My wife also chose an appetizer for her main dish, the wilted spinach salad with salmon. The piece of salmon was about 4 oz., much more than you would expect for less than $8! She loved it! On the other hand, I chose a regular meal, the 12 oz strip steak with sides. The accompanying soup was french onion, one of my favorites. Very disappointing! It was too salty, had soggy croutons and was topped with a slice of mostly cold Swiss cheese! I couldn't eat it. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came medium well. The server did not misunderstand but the kitchen over cooked the steak. The manager, Lisa, was very apologetic and offered...in fact, insisted...to replace it. I don't like to waste food and as it was edible, I chose to keep it. They did compensate by bringing me a piece of very tasty house made chocolate cake. The sides I chose were baked potato which came with butter, sour cream and chives. It was not as throughly baked as I'm used to but still ok. The mac and cheese was not my choice, but my wife's...she only ate a bite of it. Overall, two of three of us loved it so it's worth a visit. Next time I'll go with just an appetizer! read more
