We picked TMP because they had good reviews and when they didn't have a good review, the owner always replied to the complaint and addressed it to the best of their ability. We took our two dogs here for the first time today and had a great experience! I loved that they had fully customizable services and service add ons that you could do through their online booking which allowed my partner and I to have full control over what we wanted. Even better, upon drop off each grooming tech went over with me verbally what I wanted for each dog. This allowed me to mention anything I forgot or ask any questions. The groom for two dogs took about two hours and they called me right away when they were ready for pick up. They did a great job - we chose a bath and sani-cut for both doggos and both were executed wonderfully! The women there were courteous, kind, professional, and friendly ! We are definitely thrilled to have had a wonderful experience and will be back for their next groom. They squeezed us in super last minute on Christmas Eve and were so kind and welcoming. I haven't taken my dog to a groomer in a long time as I usually do it myself but we had a little emergency and needed to get her cleaned asap lol. She is usually a little shy at first but they were able to take her back with no problem. Afterwards, she smelled so good and was super soft! I was visiting Redding for a few weeks and ended up needing to get my 2 dogs groomed on a whim. This place was a gem! First, I emailed with an inquiry to which they responded promptly and sent me a link so I could book an appointment online if it was more convenient (but also offered to book it for me). I told them I would call them the next day to book. Then, I ended up being too busy the next day so I called in two days later simply stating I needed to get my two dogs groomed and wanted to know if they could get my dogs in same day or next. I could hear another staff in the background say, "Is that for Parker and Brady?" (I hadn't even stated my dog's names... the staff member knew off hand. I was amazed). And - they noted that they could get me in same day (2pm but I thought they said 10am). So that leads me to - showing up at 10am. I walk in with my dogs saying I'm dropping them off for their appointments. Again, staff didn't even need to look up anything in the computer (they just recalled). After realizing I heard them wrong, they quickly put their heads together and said they would get us in at 11 and I could drop them off then. My husband and I were so impressed with the excellent service and that was only part of it. We loved that you could see the groomers working on other dogs when you walk in and they were so great with the dogs! One dog was clearly stressed and staff put down all tools and just tried to calm it before doing any work. And my boys came out beautifully! The staff followed instruction perfectly on what we wanted done and my dogs were happy campers. I highly recommend this place and would absolutely visit again. read more

Second time having a grooming appointment here for my two girls and this experience was just as wonderful as the first! We received a friendly greeting upon arrival and they reviewed the services being provided before taking my dogs back for their appointments. Handled both of my babies gently, let us have a moment to say goodbye, and gave us back happy and clean pups about an hour or so later. They remembered that both of my dogs are rescues and they have been so accommodating to their needs. I was happy to set up their next visit and look forward to seeing the friendly staff again. From the time I first brought my dog in to the salon at the old location years ago, the staff remembered her at each subsequent visit and even our nail trim preference, and we only come in a few times a year! She can be a little nervous like most pups during a trim, but they are very patient, accommodating, and reassuring. They have squeezed us in for a walk-in minutes from closing and they take card payment, unlike so many other groomers in town, which was honestly the reason we gave them a try in the first place years ago, besides the glowing reviews obviously. read more

Friendly enough people but totally inept grooming skills. I have a small, mixed breed dog, 11 lbs. Every single appointment there were very OBVIOUS consistency and symmetry issues. Always having to go back or just wait around longer after they would bring her out and show me her VERY uneven grooms. One leg had hair 1 3/4" long, the other 1/2" long. These issues persisted at every appointment. (We made 4 appointments over 8 months) Face, feet, body, ears....all cut at different lengths, seemingly random. I've had Lhasa Apsos for 20+ years. I know what they're supposed to look like. If you don't have the required skill set, lead with that. I messaged the owner, Jasmine, after this last/final appointment, with photos of my dog and her obvious uneven groom, to request a partial refund, as I had to take my dog elsewhere a few days later for corrective grooming. Jasmine never responded. Which I found highly unprofessional, just like her grooms. I've since found a highly talented groomer, thankfully. read more

The option for conditioner is also a nice touch as they are always super itchy. Price is based on how long you use the self wash; scrubbers, brushes and dog dryers are included. I have not had a dog groomed here but I have seen jasmine and her staff interact with the pups and they are very sweet and attentive. We had a bad experience at The Modern Pup. They shaved our poor dogs butt way too short. His skin got irritated and we had to take him to the vet. The vet prescribed some spray, he got over the skin irritation but is forever emotionally scared and won't let anyone near his butt. Got my pup groomed here today and the service was awesome! We got the full bath plus a deshedding treatment and my pup looks better than ever. We came in for our appointment and were greeted and helped instantly. I appreciate that there are set appointment times as my pup tends to get very excited with other dogs, I felt like the set appointments allowed the groomer to focus on my pup and my pup wasn't worked up the whole time with a bunch of other dogs around. She came back to me shining, soft as ever, and I swear pounds lighter from all the hair removed ;) was estimated 1.5-2 hours but they were done in about an hour! Jasmine always does such an incredible job with our little Chi-Weenie Shelby. We have tried a few different salons in town and they were all either dirty, smelly, or off their game business wise (like not accepting credit cards) Walking into the Modern Pup is like a breath of fresh air. It is modern, always clean, smells great, and you can tell Jasmine not only loves dogs, but is excellent at what she does. We recently got another dog (a giant Boxer/mastiff mix) and she did an excellent job with him as well on a full bath and de-shedding treatment.
