However, we had the opportunity to catch and keep sturgeon only if it was between 44-50 inches; which occurs twice in a year. From beginning to start, Matt was super helpful with providing gear for me as it was my first time fishing. His boat was top of the line compared to the rest on the river that day. It had a hot water sink and very comfy chairs to sit in. He also had beers, waters on dec and had anti-nausea meds on board which was great for me since I was feeling sick. After 5 minutes, my boyfriend caught his first sturgeon that was 47 inches. And I caught one four hours later that was 45 inches. He allowed us to reel it in (which was a struggle for me, but worth it) and he took great photos after. We were the only 2 people that day to catch and keep our sturgeon. We couldn't have had a better experience and we got so lucky that day thanks to Matt! He ended up filet-ing our sturgeons and took 15 pounds of it home. It was the highlight of our trip to Portland. And we plan to come back in the spring once salmon season starts. If you're thinking about booking a trip with him, DO IT. You won't regret it!

Captain Christian was extremely rude, constantly screaming, using horrible language, and belittling them--calling them stupid and saying they didn't know what they were doing. Instead of teaching or helping them, he made them feel uncomfortable. We paid for a 6-hour trip, but after only 4 hours, he told them they were done. We caught only 2 fish. The two deckhands were very nice and helpful, but unfortunately, the captain's behavior ruined the entire experience. I would absolutely not recommend this company.

Paul runs a tight ship, he knows what he's doing, it's in his blood. We had such a great time, I scheduled a Salmon trip with my wife this time. We had lots of luck. We all tagged out, even the boys! We saw sea lions and otters chasing our catch as we pulled it in and spun the boat to keep them away, very exciting! Fish after fish, other boats were coming in empty and ours was some sort of Mecca for the fish. The experience, knowledge, and success of Paul's trips are top notch. Not only does he allow the young ones, he's absolutely wonderful with them! He helped her cast, reel, gave clear direction and was very encouraging. We ended up getting skunked back in November, but we planned a winter steelhead trip. That trip was today. Again, just amazing with our kids! Patient, kind, and participated with her back and forth banter. There's no other guide we'd rather go with. So I thought the trip was on another date I called and said I can't make it can we reschedule he scolded me telling me it cost him 700 dollars a day I said sorry but then found out I could. After that I asked when could I cancel to just make sure bc he was threatening me with cost of 700 if I missed the trip. I said I still want to go. I text week before the trip and he tells me he's not going to do it. I have a friend that flew out that cost 600 dollars. He was amped up from the start and difficult to work with. I don't care about the money I donated to the nonprofit bc that was the main reason I did it but now my friend is out 600 dollars.
