Excellent food. They have great BBQ and their fish is amazing. I can't think of a bad item served on their bar!

BBQ is an often argued topic, especially in my home state of North Carolina. We take barbecue…read moreseriously! Stanton's was recommended to me by a longtime friend from high school. Neither of us had been to Stanton's, but we were aware of its reputation. We both had to drive 90 minutes to have lunch at Stanton's and I'm glad I made the drive. Since this was a long drive, I ate more than if the restaurant had been a quick drive. I tried their chopped BBQ and fried shrimp plate with slaw and baked beans as sides. Hush puppies were served with the plate. Topped off with a BBQ sandwich. For a beverage, I ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 tea. The tea was fantastic! For me, the regular sweet tea would have been a little too sweet. The BBQ was really, really good! They barbecue butts, as opposed to whole hog. The sides were solid, but not exceptional. The best side I tasted was the slaw and it was above average, while the beans were very average. The BBQ sandwich (a true test marker) with slaw - excellent. There were three people at our table and our total bill was only $52. The servers were excellent and about as nice as you could encounter. Just good southern hospitality. Lastly, the building/business is a South Carolina Certified Heritage Site. It's been around a long time and you feel you have stepped back in time. Stanton's has served a lot of people over the years. The restaurant looked to be built onto the home on the property. There is plenty of parking, and an airstrip across the street. People fly in almost every day to have lunch and we were fortunate to see an arrival by air while we were there. The next time I'm in the area, I will stop in for some BBQ!

I would've given them a 5 Star if they had a dining room , but the picnic tables were a nice touch…read more I understand the old building burnt down years ago and now they just have pickup available. I've always heard how good they are and I never got a chance to try it when I came to town to visit my sister every few years. I made it a point to go here this time and came here on Thursday , my last day , for lunch before driving to the mountains. Everyone was very nice and the chopped pork sandwich was very good. I'm more used to pulled pork , but it was pretty much the same thing. The vinegar and red pepper bbq sauce was on point like it should be in the Carolinas. The slaw was okay and it also came with a pack of potato chips. It was nice and quiet sitting on the picnic benches and a few people came by while I was eating. I also got a show from one of the local birds flying high enjoying the wind. At first I thought it was a hawk , but after looking at the picture more closely it looks like a buzzard. Anyway , I highly recommend you giving them a try , support local businesses , and it was some good barbecue.

I go to Austin, TX at least once a year for work and Jon G's is the best Texas-style BBQ I've had…read moreoutside of the lone star state (and the best kolaches I've had anywhere.) We arrived at 9:45 on a chilly, drizzly day and there were probably 50 people in line ahead of us. There was a friendly staff member monitoring and organizing the line and she told us we were there on a 'slow' day because of the weather. After the restaurant opened at 11, we waited in line for probably another 45 minutes until we got inside to order. The brisket was great, but the best things we had were the kolaches (stuffed breakfast rolls available before they open), Cheerwine hot link sausage, and fruit crisp. The Cheerwine sausage was the biggest surprise. It had a great flavor and wasn't sweet - I've never had anything like it before. When we get a chance to go back, we'll probably skip the pulled pork and mac & cheese. They were fine but there's a lot to try and these weren't anything special.

There's a good reason it sells out before they close almost every dang day. Known for its tender briskets, flavorful meats and flavor packed side dishes, Jon G's is my all time fav in terms of bbq and southern cuisine.
