As a 1st time customer, I did notice the parking lot, with little to no available spaces, but I wasn't prepared for the mass of customers waiting in the take-out area. Placed our order and waited (not long). While waiting, overheard a request for a bag of fatback. After further investigation, Woodstone also sells skins. Add a bag with hot sauce to my order! Can't eat them everyday, but trust, they were crunchy deliciousness in a bag! My meal of BBQ ribs, mac & cheese, cabbage, chicken bawg and hush puppies was soo good! Standout stars were the perfectly steamed cabbage and well seasoned chicken bawg! Portion size will enable me to have 3 meals. I was so excited about those dawg-on skins, I forgot to order dessert. The overall food was good. I wish the cashier suggested tip option, at point of sale. The only mistake for us was not having cash to tip our waitress. The staff was really welcoming and hard working. Service can only be described as it sucks. I drove 40 miles one way to pick up Father's Day dinner. I get there and I told oh no you can not buy any to go food just a plate. I had my full Family at the house waiting for this meal. They had nothing posted on the web site to warn people that take out would be very limited . No the wife is in panic mode family dinner ruin Father's Day all screwed up. They lost out on a very large order. I enjoyed our family dinner here this evening. While visiting family in Florence, they treated me to a buffet dinner. Woodstone's provided southern hospitality and delicious buffet options. This place is very popular, so you'll want to arrive early. I enjoyed the options here. There are a lot of southern classics and seafood on the menu. My favorite items tonight were: the fried squash, stuffed yellow crab, Lima beans, fried whiting and frog legs. Yes. I said it. Frog. Legs. I also had potato salad but the potatoes were undercooked unfortunately. Dessert options were very few. I went with the strawberry short cake and peach cobbler. Too sweet and not very tasty. This Southern buffet style restaurant is located in Florence just a couple of miles from the National Cemetery. Only mention this since it was Memorial Day weekend when we visited. God bless our troops. The restaurant offered a very good variety of Southern comfort food staples. Pulled pork, catfish, chicken-n-dumplings, chicken bog, crab, fried chicken and every type of green you can imagine. I tried a little of each and everything was very tasty. The serving staff were all very nice and kept up with drinks and clearing empty plates as we refilled new ones. Check your receipt. It appears that a 20% tip is added automatically. Six of us visited Woodstone BBQ and Seafood for Father's Day. It was my father-in-law's choice and convenient since my husband and I were able to meet my in-laws in Florence when we drove up from Charleston. Although Woodstone's website advertised a menu with seafood as well as a sandwich menu, when we got there, the all-you-can-eat buffet was the only option, likely due to Father's Day. On the heels of a pandemic, I was skeptical about a buffet, but Woodstone's offers gloves for handling the utensils and had hand sanitizer at the front of the line. The staff also brings you any sauces and condiments you need, which seems more sanitary than having them on a buffet. Most customers used the gloves while in line. As a pescatarian, I was thankful the buffet included fried shrimp, fried catfish, deviled crab, as well as many vegetables. Some vegetables are seasoned with and contain meat, but the food is in front of you so you can easily see. If you're still unsure or have concerns, just ask an employee. All seafood was deep-fried, and items weren't marked. I accidentally took a piece of fried pork thinking it was some type of fish, but thankfully figured this out before eating it. A grilled fish would've been nice, as some of the fried items were thickly breaded, but I found plenty to eat. If it can be deep-fried, I'm pretty sure Woodstone's will deep fry it. The staff work super hard keeping the buffet full of popular items. They also bring and refill your drinks and clear your plates. Bring cash for a tip, as the receipt had no line for gratuity, and you pay when you enter. I don't remember our server's name, but she was excellent and earned her tips. My favorite items were the sweet potatoes, fried zucchini, fried shrimp, and chocolate delight dessert. The dessert contains chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and pieces of chocolate chip cookies that are crunchy. The soft-serve ice cream is also popular. We all enjoyed the food, and I recommend getting there as soon as they open to avoid crowds and because all of the food will be fresh on the buffet. read more

Woodstone in Florence There was a roach in my tea at Woodstone. I alerted my waitress in hopes of a refund so my husband and I could just go somewhere else. We waited and we waited. We saw the manager and workers in the back cutting the straw, examining the roach. No one came back. So we went to the register to request our refund. The manager came to the front to tell us that there was NOT a roach in my tea. I said now sir what you are not going to do is insult my intelligence. If it was not a roach why didn't you come back to the table to tell us that we were mistakenly. I said where is it now? He said in the trash. So why did you throw it in the trash? He said he didn't know we wanted to see it. Then my husband said some WORDS. I was like just say we don't do refunds but don't lie to my face! That's not what we are doing here! I hope that $40 is worth it because I will never spend my money at that establishment AGAIN!!! Poor customer service!! Very awful feeling to be treated that way! read more

Buffets are scary when people you don't know are reaching inside and over food that may be dirty or have something on their sleeves like dog hair god knows what. But if you can get past the macabre the food here is pretty good. The shrimp was most impressive. Not the cheap popcorn shrimp but good medium size shrimp. I was impressed. Bbq was typical kitchen bbq nothing extra there. Veggies were ok needed some more of mom's seasoning. The fried chicken was really good. Was this worth $20. If you love shrimp and fish you definitely can get your moneys worth here. Overall it was worth a try. I think anyone can find something that they will like on the buffet. read more

Such a very subjecting thing, barbecue. This one wasn't for me, unfortunately. I've never been a "BBQ buffet" person. Just doesn't seem right, but we went ahead and tried it. Best thing on there was the catfish. Aside from that, all the meats seemed to taste the same. The sides were bland and their chicken bog just tasted like salted rice. The price seemed OK for a buffet. Staff was hit or miss.... One was alright, a couple others were a bit cranky, like we were a bother to them. Got together with brother, sister, sister in law and we planned this outing to go out to eat at Woodstone, We thoroughly enjoyed all the food, especially the seafood on the food buffet for this day, They also have icecream along with numerous deserts if you can pack it in your tummy after eating all the other delicious food; including thin biscuits! The restaurant had plastic gloves for everyone to put on before serving ourselves at the buffet. The food, service, & especially the company was great. Got off the beaten path (I-95), and found this place, which has good food, friendly staff (they were really nice with our kids) and incredible prices (including iced tea). Buffet had more seafood than bbq, including fried fish, fried shrimp, and I think scallops and oysters (weren't labeled, could be wrong). BBQ ribs and pork were great, fried chicken was tasty, chicken with dumplings, and beef stew were also really good. Plus lots of sides. For the price you really can't beat it. read more

When I came here I knew immediately what type of location it was! The buffet reminded me a lot of Golden Corral or Furs, but on a smaller more mom and pop scale. That was completely fine with me. The staff had strong southern accents like myself and it felt like home almost, maybe a 2nd cousins house but either way home or around the corner. The food was pretty good, I personally fell in love with the Chicken & Dumplings. Had a great taste and mixed with the rice, it screamed flavor. The chicken was pretty good as well and seasoned evenly enough. On the negative side there were a few things but none too bad, first being that the building was small. It meant not much movement space or swaying around tables to get to and from the food. Hard to do when you're plump as a pig! But also the dessert variety was think, personally I don't like peach cobbler, and there were about 5 options on dessert like cake and pudding and ice cream. A few more options would have gotten this place a 5 star. The other thing was the price, I could expect 11.50 for a Golden Corral or Furs or IHOP, but the variety here wasn't strong enough for the asking price. There's even a soft serve machine if you save room. Went at prime after church time Sunday it was busy but, not rushed. Cameron and the staff took great care of us. This is Roger's latest BBQ spot. His former place on 2nd Loop Rd is still around and I'm sure it still does well. However, I give the nod to Woodstone as the sauce seems more flavorful. Note, for those not in the know, this BBQ/pulled pork is the N. Carolina/vinegar based BBQ. The sweet potato casserole is excellent. Chicken bog is great, also the rice w/ red eye gravy is very tasty as well. Last but not least the hush puppies are amazing. I try to make this a Must Visit restaurant whenever I go back to visit family. I believe they're only open from Thursday-Sunday...It maybe Wednesday-Sunday. For some strange reason, none of the BBQ joints are open here on Monday or Tuesday. For those that don't know the area this is a buffet style restaurant.
