She was grabbing different leggings and sizes to help me find the perfect fit. She was honest about the material, wear and tear, and for that I am so grateful. Lots of the local athletic and health-focused shops and wellness services are offering special deals and classes this week to promote healthy and holistic lifestyles in the City by the Sea! Tonight, there was a yoga class in the store, plus a shopping event where class participants got discounts on the super cute workout clothes! Athleta is fairly new to the Long Wharf Mall, having opened this past fall. However, even though they may not have been here for all that long, they're really hitting their stride (no pun intended!) The clothes are comfortable and well made, and even though they are a bit pricy, the quality is excellent. I have a pair of workout leggings and a sweatshirt that's Athleta brand, and they are some of my fave gym-wear pieces I throw on time and time again. The ladies that work here are very nice and helpful! In some athletic shops, I've felt a little intimidated, but that's so not the vibe here! Shopping at Athleta is a delightful experience, from the friendly and professional staff to the clean, bright, and well organized store. The brick n' mortar shop only carries ladies' clothing and accessories, but Athleta's website has some stuff for the guys too! In addition to the excellent yoga class I tried tonight (Missy was an awesome instructor!), you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for future wellness events happening at the shop. We needed an impeller…read morefor our generator and also wanted to check out the consignment section of this shop, so we called in advance to check whether they stocked the impeller. The person who answered was very helpful, asked my name and said they'd set the impeller aside. We walked the 1.2 miles from town (it's what cruisers do) and got to the shop. We had our dog with us and asked if it would be OK to bring him in (it was about 85 degrees out and he was wiped). Not only could we bring him in, but they even provided him a bowl of water. The impellers were on the side, just like they said they'd be. We wandered around the store and it was a really cool place - lots of things you don't always see, and the consignment part of the store had some really neat things. After we paid for our stuff, we decided we wanted to cab it back. We called the cab company and they said they wouldn't allow dogs in their cabs. The owner's son said there was a pretty big storm coming, and he actually drove us back to the dinghy docks in his own car! I'm all about buying local and supporting local businesses. When you have customer service and friendliness like this, it's pretty much worth any price (and for the record, their prices were very reasonable). I would definitely recommend a visit, if just to check out the consignment area.
