However they sold us a boat trailer without a title. we used that trailer three times. Once to drive across the state, once to put the boat in the water. when we took the boat out of the water the axle snapped. Also the lights never worked. I did leave a message to see if there was any warranty as we bought the trailer barely 3 months ago. No response. No call back. Now we are getting the trailer repaired and wondering how to get it registered without a title.

We needed an impeller…read morefor our generator and also wanted to check out the consignment section of this shop, so we called in advance to check whether they stocked the impeller. The person who answered was very helpful, asked my name and said they'd set the impeller aside. We walked the 1.2 miles from town (it's what cruisers do) and got to the shop. We had our dog with us and asked if it would be OK to bring him in (it was about 85 degrees out and he was wiped). Not only could we bring him in, but they even provided him a bowl of water. The impellers were on the side, just like they said they'd be. We wandered around the store and it was a really cool place - lots of things you don't always see, and the consignment part of the store had some really neat things. After we paid for our stuff, we decided we wanted to cab it back. We called the cab company and they said they wouldn't allow dogs in their cabs. The owner's son said there was a pretty big storm coming, and he actually drove us back to the dinghy docks in his own car! I'm all about buying local and supporting local businesses. When you have customer service and friendliness like this, it's pretty much worth any price (and for the record, their prices were very reasonable). I would definitely recommend a visit, if just to check out the consignment area.

I'm new to Newport and a temporary resident. I went into the store knowing simply that I wanted a…read morebike to commute on and take off road on the weekends. Dan was very knowledgeable and quickly helped me find the bike for at met my requirements. He also did a great job working within a price range I was comfortable with. Fast forward to my first post-trail ride. I think I got the front brake a little hot, but when I came to ask Dan about checking it out, he looked it over and surfaced the brake pads for free on the spot. Furthermore, following my next outing, Tom, the owner, overheard me talking about wanting to race the bike before they could get my replacement pedals in (I broke one on a rock), and he quickly had Tom, the technician give me a set of good loaner pedals for the race. Today, I picked up my new pedals, and Dan installed them on the spot for free. In closing, I want to say that this shop is top notch and run by a group of knowledgeable folks who ride what they sell, know how to stand by their products, and are always willing to carry on a friendly conversation when you stop in. Was looking for a particular kayak, and Kayak Centre had the boat. I purchased it over the phone,…read moreand was told to call 24 hours before I wanted to pick it up because it was "still in storage, not yet unwrapped by the store", and they would need to retrieve it. When I found the same boat much closer to me I called them to cancel my order and they charged me a "restocking fee" for a boat that had not yet been brought into the shop, or unwrapped. The fee I had to pay, over $260, is the charge when someone buys a boat, takes it home, and then returns it. I can understand a small penalty for "making" them write up a sales slip, but this was excessive.

The store up top you can find a solid selection and variety from the latest surf and outdoor brands with in-season clothes as well as some of previous seasons items on sale. The Board Room down below you can find a vast choosing of the latest and greatest from shapers and boardmakers. In addition they offer a surf camp and private lessons to those trying to get started. Every time I visit I have found the people working to be helpful and willing to engage in a conversation about what I am looking for or helping me find the right fin for my board. It is important to buy local when shopping for a new board, wetsuit, or leash so the surfing community can continue in areas like Newport/Middletown.
