I have been to Hoosier Grove Barn for banquets and parties, and it is a beautiful venue. Recently, I was at the annual Barn & Brew fest, and it was such a perfect place for an outdoor event. The fire pit was nice and inviting. The liive music was soothing, and the staff and volunteers worked hard to ensure a successful event. There were many brews, seltzers, and wines to try. My Cocina food truck was a highlight! The grounds here are well cared fore and it was convenient to have benches and tables to sit at. read more

We had our baby shower here Aug 2024. The venue is cute however be cautious of the staff and management. The management was unclear about pricing and promised that they would adjust the pricing based on the amount of guest we had. They lied and charged us for the full amount so make sure you get everything in writing. Staff working the event was extremely unprofessional with the staff just standing around smoking cigarettes outside in-front of our guest. They also do not dress professional for your event and will wait around until you tell them what to do. This was unexpected since they claim to have been doing this for many years. I recently had my wedding of less than 120 people which was my final number! When planning the wedding and going through the stress of getting it all together (as most weddings is) the staff was thorough and patient. That being said I do believe their manners and the way they speak to people could be a bit better. I cannot stress how many times I was told what I wanted was not a good idea because they didn't want stress or because they've done this way more than me. Now I have been in banquet and bar business for 10 years, I would never tell a bride what she wants would be to stressful for me. Now, the wedding day! It was beautiful and almost perfect! My wedding coordinator caitie was the absolute best! Such a delight! She really helped make my day so special. On the other hand, colleen was very rude to my bridal party during my dinner that when speeches were going on they were forced to go clean the room upstairs because she didn't believe wed do it later.. that kinda ruined some of the speeches that we didn't have cause they weren't there. Nor was my bridesmaids there when i was emotional. Also, i was told i would have a 6 hour bar through dinner cause that is what was paid for. It was closed the entire dinner and speeches. Still paid full price though. As i mentioned in the beginning, my guest count was 120 and we had less than that. I was forced by the venue to have a seating chart. So I made a seating chart exactly based off the table chart they sent me. Printed and right off their copy. Yet my wedding party was sharing chairs and tables were short on chairs. Luckily I have a great group of friends and family who only cared about celebrating me and my husband. Overall, the venue itself was beautiful and exactly what we wanted look wise. I forgot to write this awhile ago. I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and figured I would write a review. I usually never give 1 star but for this event I think I should because if you are planning a big event like a wedding it's very stressful and you should be happy with what you are paying for. The couple had a outdoor ceremony which was great the seating and space was enough to fit 70 people comfortably. The venue was next door to the ceremony. The cocktail was inside because it was a hot weekend. The space is small and you had to remove the middle table and sweethearts table to open up the dance floor. The servers keep masks on but were not very attentive. They stayed in back by the back door. I would also see the same 2 individuals downstairs that were supposed to be helping with the food in a room next to the bathroom. I know one of my friends asked a question and he said he didn't work here even when we saw him with a name tag and by the food. Not sure what was going on with staff but found that a little strange. They only had one bartender present during a majority of the night for 80 people. I did speak to the couple and they said they requested 2. The other bartender that was supposed to be there was one of the women who was downstairs when ever I would go down. Not sure if they were understaffed but the venue should look into that. I did notice the other main bartender (dark blond women) was disrespectful to people of color. Unfortunately this occurred from the beginning to the end of the night. The event started at 530-630 (cocktail), bar was closed until after dinner 730 it reopened- and ended at 1030pm. The bartender stopped serving shots at 930pm but was also cutting people off 30min into reopening after dinner. She closed the bar at 1030 because the groom asked her why she stopped so early and she wouldn't give him an answer. Then just closed the bar. She called the cops because she felt "threatened" and the cops came but our friend is also a cop and talked to them. The cops even said this is common at this venue and with this specific bartender. The cops didn't do anything and just said it will be better to just leave and party on the bus back to the city so that the bartender doesn't cause any more issues. I understand if you need to cut people off if they are drunk but no one was... people left more sober than they did drunk. I know she was also counting peoples drinks and keeping tabs on them which was weird and telling people they are about to be cut off for coming up too frequently even if they were getting drinks for the bridal party. I would also say that they handled the situation poorly and should have consulted the couple before ruining the night and calling the cops. read more

I'd love to give 5 stars, because my friend's wedding was going amazingly well until a few of the staff members didn't know how to handle a very easy situation when it comes to dealing with people and events. The whole situation that involved one bartender calling the police and ending the wedding celebration at 10:50PM for a minor issue, could of been avoided very simply if she had approached anyone from the bridal party to further assist with the non-violent issue. It's also important to mention that the manager had told the bartenders to stop pouring shots after the bar was open for only 80 minutes, stating that too many shots were already given and she didn't want people to get drunk. Really?!! The guests had barely started to dance at that point, not a single one causing trouble, not a single one stumbling over. It was 9:20 PM and the Newlyweds had paid for open bar 'til midnight. I can sincerely state that no one was acting drunk or inappropriate at all through out the night. If it wasn't for the manager and the bartender's poor communication skills & common sense, everyone would have had a great time and avoided such frustrating night for both parties involved. read more

Staffs are not friendly and they are lazy. They were not well coordinated with timing neither with serving the right food in the right time. In order to not hurt their pockets they will start cutting your shots in half and eventually refusing to serve drinks. The wedding party had to end 1h30min before the schedule. If that's the kind of weeding party you want, go with them. read more

March 24, 2023 Happy a birthday 80s party at Hoosier Barn it's in a serene location, the facility is rustic, and yet a modern. It accommodated wheelchair access, the facility is extremely clean and well decorated. The staff from booking to the day of the event was extremely helpful, professional and insured, party was successful. The event planner, answered questions, decided more questions called several times, room design as party grew, food and music this is my third time at an event at this facility and each time it is gotten better. Just had my wedding this past Friday and I have to say the first right choice...after saying yes to my handsome guy...was booking this venue. The day we met with Vickie we decided this was the place for us, not only was the venue absolutely beautiful and well maintained, but the love for the place the employees had for it definitely showed in their tour. First time bride and no clue what I was doing, Vickie held my hand through everything, every vendor she recommended was amazing, her bartenders and event staff went above and beyond anything I could have expected. Had our wedding 09/02 here and it was beautiful. From the first step in there we knew it was the place. Lesley is one hell of a man. He runs the show like no other! Extremely nice guy, the price is so on point its ridiculous. Go early, they are popular and booked out a year + in advanced. The day before our wedding day Alisha and himself planned and walked us through everything and the day of the wedding it went so smooth. Dont sweat it too much - we also had A List DJ here (DALE IS THE MAN) they do weddings here often and the DJ will run the night so you dont have to worry about ANYTHING. I am writing this review from another perspective that you don't often hear when planning a wedding/event. I work in operations for a catering company that frequently caters events at Hoosier Grove, and even behind-the-scenes, the Hoosier Grove staff are absolutely amazing through and through. We work with a lot of venues, and I suppose we're probably not supposed to choose favorites, but shhh...this one's my favorite! One of the things that makes Hoosier Grove stand out, aside from it being a really beautiful venue, is the staff. The thing that makes them the best is that they really truly deeply care. This is the kind of venue you want in your corner on your wedding day. If/when something doesn't go according to plan, as can often be the case, they jump in to make sure you're taken care of. These are not the kind of folks who will sit and complain if something unexpected happens that creates more work for them; these are the kind of folks who genuinely want you to have the most amazing event, and will do everything in their power to make sure it happens. They also do an incredible job of collaborating with other wedding vendors, which is so important in bringing together a really cohesive event. I loved having my wedding here. The reception hall and garden were STUNNING (it probably also helped that we had amazing weather). The lights they have lining the walls makes any decor look like it belongs there. The staff was super helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. Let me start out by saying that this venue is one of the most beautiful places to have a wedding. The staff are constantly taking ideas from prior weddings and upgrading the already beautiful setting they have made. When we first decided to have our wedding here the old barn wood, high ceilings, wonderfully kept grounds and amazing bargain were what drew us in. When we first visited, the staff was super friendly and easy to get along with. They answered all of our questions and made it very easy to make our decision. What we liked most about Hoosier Grove Barn was just how much they include with the rental package. They give you chairs, tables, linens, 5 hours of open bar, AV equipment, a wedding planner, and much much much more. There are a few add-ons that we didn't use, but the expense they charged for them was very well explained and makes sense instead of these ridiculous prices you get from other venues. The place is small but for our just over 100 guest count, it was absolutely perfect size. The climate controlled venue makes this barn far superior to other barn style venues considering the ungodly weather we deal with in this area at times. In all, our first impressions of the place made me choose Hoosier Grove Barn. The staff and ease of planning, made me not regret it one bit! Now, due to the popularity of Barn weddings these days, they are booked out well in advance, so get planning and get planning early if you want to book here. That being said, they were so flexible and easy going and did everything they could think of to get us the date we wanted. This place is owned by the park district and will sometimes host community events as well as weddings. So getting a date you want requires a decent amount of advanced notice. We got our date 14 months in advance and it was the earliest available Saturday! Once our date was established the wedding planner, Mallory (who is now running the show I believe) was super helpful. She sent us a questionnaire that really made us think about everything and make a plan for the big day. She was also very helpful when filling out the questionnaire as well. We used her input and made some of our own changes and really made it special without getting too complicated. Like I said, we booked well in advance so we had a lot of time to fill it out, but I honestly think that this single service right here is what makes this place so special. Everyone there is truly a master of the wedding craft and knows exactly how make the day special without burdening us with an overwhelming amount of planning. Closer to the date, our wedding got handed off to Vicki and Colleen who took it and ran with it beautifully and seamlessly. They truly did an excellent job picking up where Mallory left off and came with their own sets of insight and wisdom. We were able to easily finish getting the final touches down and it felt amazing. Now, you can sit there and rack your brain about "what did we forget?" "I feel like there should be more." But trust me, they have thought of everything. Even the smallest of details they will fill it in when the time comes to make everything work. If your worried about the ceremony walk-in they have got that covered too! Vicki took charge and really made sure everyone knew where to go and when to walk. This made my job of keeping my rebel-rousing friends in line a whole lot easier. The day of our wedding, everyone was there to help set up. The staff showed up on time for us to set up all the decorations, and helped us with any last minute changes as well. During the ceremony and reception, we had a fantastic time. The floor changes were seamless, the staff worked diligently behind the scenes and we didn't even realize just how much was going on because they just knew what to do. All in all, this is definitely a great place to say I do, the unbelievable grounds and scenery, the beautiful barn and facilities, and the fantastic staff all come to get her in the best way possible. Don't let this HGB's website deceive you. This venue, located just outside the city, is a total gem. AND a godsend for brides who can't afford the crazy venue prices in the city of Chicago. We had our wedding here on September 1, 2013 and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The entire team (from Leslie to the bar tender) was helpful, courteous, and quick to respond. Here is why I chose the HGB: - The facility was VERY reasonably priced. AND the rental fee included all the tables, chairs, and linens. - We could have the facility all day to set up/tear down - There were no "hidden fees" for customizing the day to our needs/desires - We were able to tailor the bar tab to meet our budget needs (we opted for a hosted bar and then opened it to cash once we met our limit) - There were no restrictions on who we could have cater the event (Smoke Daddy's in Chicago did our food) - The entire experience was flexible and really allowed us to create the wedding we wanted - We were able to have 140 guests for an indoor/outdoor ceremony. We also could have tented the event and held even more people, but opted not to do so Again, I cannot say enough wonderful things about the HGB. It was an ideal place to have our wedding and truly allowed us to customize our wedding to fit our personalities. I attended a wedding here this summer for a very close friend. The grounds are very pretty and ideal for photographs. The interior of the barn has that "rustic" feel and is a great reception location for couples looking for exactly that. It was a bit dark in the barn, some photos I took didn't turn out very well, and it's a smaller space. So if you book this, I'd stay under maximum capacity (otherwise some guest sit upstairs) and make sure you get some good lighting. The ceremony on the premises was lovely, even though it began to lightly rain. My only complaint was the traffic off of Irving Park Road was a little loud. And, since they announce "Congrats Bob and Sue" on the sign, cars and trucks honk as they drive by. But, seeing as there aren't many reception locations similar to this one in the area, it's a small price to pay. read more

We recently had our wedding at the Hoosier Grove Barn! The entire campus is absolutely breathtaking and the history of the barn as well as of the schoolhouse is quite interesting. The venue itself as well as the staff are absolutely wonderful. Any question I had was always answered expeditiously and thoroughly. The staff were more than accommodating and always helpful to find solutions (we ended up using their speaker system inside the barn in lieu of a DJ). All of our wedding guests told us how much they truly enjoyed the venue as well as the incredible staff (specifically the bartenders :) ). I cannot speak highly enough about the Hoosier Grove Barn! Highly Recommend! We got married on May 6th 2017 at Hoosier Grove Barn and it was simply a wonderful day! I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out and having our wedding on the beautiful grounds of HGB was just perfect! First of all I want to thank the wonderful wedding coordinators who made our day happen- Mallory, Leslie and Vicki were helpful, friendly, super accommodating, idea filled and reassuring that the day would be great- and it was!! I went to the barn many times to get ideas on how I wanted it set up and every time everyone was so helpful. Our weather for the day originally wasn't looking too good and we had to make a last minute decision to rent a tent for the ceremony so we met with Leslie and Mallory and went thru the logistics of setup and "the look" and we decided to not do the rent over our ceremony site but instead to put the tent on the lawn as a backup plan and I'm so glad we listened because we ended up luckily having a beautiful sunny day and were able to have addtl seating in the tent for people to avoid the sun and our Groomsmen hung out there prior to the ceremony and it just turned out great! For the best bang for your buck I highly recommend Hoosier Grove Barn - our bridesmaids got ready in the barn Loft area, it was perfect for hair/makeup and mimosas :) we had a group of people help with our table and decor set up, Mallory was always around keeping us up to date, there are so many options to have your ceremony at on the grounds - we chose their newer garden area and it was just so perfect! Picture taking areas are endless and our guests had space to linger and walk around and enjoy the area! Making room for the dance floor was done in the blink of an eye and none of the guests were too bothered - the sound for the DJ was good and the Bartenders were even better! I heard nothing but good reviews from my family and friends about the service , servers and the bartenders keeping those drinks flowing haha! I attended a wedding this past weekend at HGB. The barn and grounds were absolutely beautiful and amazing. I wish I could give the place 5 stars but I was extremely disappointed in the staff running the event. They were rude and it made the entire night less than wonderful. Vicky, running the event should be fired. She was EXTREMELY rude to guest and her staff as well. I would be embarrassed to have her on my payroll. I am sure my friends paid a pretty penny to have their event at this location and will be extremely disappointed to hear how their guests were treated. For anyone thinking of having your event at this location, think again! I would not want my guests talked to or treated like we were. Horrible!!! read more

My husband and I are so happy that we decided to get married at the Hoosier Grove Barn. We looked at multiple venues, but the Hoosier Grove Barn definitely stood out among the rest. The property is absolutely beautiful, and there are different areas you can choose to have your ceremony. We had our ceremony in the garden, which is paved in brick and landscaped nicely. Cocktail hour was also outside, on the land in-between the barn and the garden. They opened up an outdoor bar, and our guests were very happy with the quick bar service, and impressed by the beer / liquor selection. Mallory, the wedding & event coordinator, was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the whole planning process. She addressed all of our questions / concerns in a timely manner. As soon as my now husband and I toured HGB during our wedding venue search, we knew we found the place that we wanted hosting our big day. The grounds are beautiful - we loved the history behind it all and how well maintained it was. The Barn itself is absolutely stunning, we loved the decor that is left up permanently and loved that it meant our decor and details could be kept simple. The staff is a BLESSING - especially Vicki, on the days leading up to our COVID-postponed wedding she was responsive and made sure to go above and beyond to make sure the day was perfect. Her dedication did not stop there - she came to the venue early on Sunday morning to weed-whack since the Streamwood Park District did not (and the weeds in the sidewalks weren't the greatest), left to supply us more orange juice after our bridal party wiped out their supply, and even had her husband bring THEIR bag set from home after not being able to locate the set that the barn supplies. We were OVERWHELMED by the support, assistance, and genuine care that we felt by everyone, especially Vicki in those last few days/hours. The Hoosier Grove Barn is absolutely one of the BEST venues in the Chicagoland area! The service provided by the staff there is simply outstanding. The setting is beautiful and timeless. Our guests have been just raving about how unique (and fun!) our wedding was. Mallory was our AMAZING wedding coordinator. She was professional, patient, and extremely knowledgeable when it came to planning our event. We were so lucky to have her. This review is a little belated. I attended a good friend's wedding here a few months ago. Breath taking venue and fantastic staff. I want to single out Donna specifically for going above and beyond the call of duty. I have dietary restrictions and by the time our table got called and I got to the front of the buffet line the only entree that I could eat (the chicken piccata) was all gone. I asked if there was any more and Donna said that was it. I explained that I couldn't eat any of the other buffet items. I took it in stride and walked back to my table with an empty plate. Later like a guardian angel Donna appeared at my table with some chicken piccata that she was able to scrounge up from the kitchen. We recently held my daughter's wedding at Hoosier Grove and it was an amazing experience. From our initial visit and tour of the facility we fell in love with the space and its amazing staff. With only six months to plan the wedding, their professional service and knowledge truly shined throughout the process and especially on the wedding day. From the beauty of the venue, their recommended vendors and the service they provided we couldn't have been happier. We can't say enough about the great service and support both Vicky and Colleen provided before, during and after! Had my daughter's wedding reception there, everything was wonderful! The staff was very hands on and accommodating. Rio was especially helpful to us , helping us bring things in, arrange , and answer any questions we had.Rio made sure that the wedding tables under our tent had everything set up just right..Absolutely lovely place & the guests really had a lovely time!.Went in the next morning to get leftover pans of food & they had it all ready for us .Once again..Rio helped me get it all in my car.
