This took a huge weight off our shoulders during the planning process, and they absolutely delivered. We received so many compliments from our guests about both the food and drinks. For hors d'oeuvres, we chose the bacon-wrapped dates, sweet potato and avocado bites, bruschetta, and buffalo chicken bites, our guests especially raved about the buffalo chicken bites and bacon-wrapped dates! We also added the mimosa service while we were getting ready, which was such a fun and thoughtful touch. The staff set everything up beautifully with cups, juice, champagne, and fruit for garnish, it was so cute and made the morning feel extra special. I am so happy that we made the decision to get ready at the venue! The boys had a great time playing bags and football on the patio while the girls got ready upstairs. Our day of coordinator, Tara, was beyond excellent. She helped us plan every detail down to the minute and brought up things I would have never even considered. She was kind, thoughtful, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire day and night. She struck the perfect balance, always there when we needed her, but never overbearing. I truly couldn't be happier with her support. The dining experience was another highlight. The dining room is absolutely stunning, the natural light that comes in from all of the windows and the view is stunning! Many guests mentioned how memorable the dinner service was, they present the meals in such an elegant way! We chose the Fishermen's Inn signature salad, creamy chicken and rice pilaf soup, chicken piccata, and salmon with pineapple mango salsa. Guests consistently told us the food was fresh, served warm, and perfectly portioned. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and offer so many beautiful spots for photos. Since we got married in October, having a strong indoor ceremony option was very important to us in case of bad weather. Fishermen's Inn gave us that peace of mind. We were lucky to have a perfect 75 degree day and held our dream outdoor ceremony, but I felt completely confident in the indoor backup as well. Our guests loved the outdoor cocktail hour on the patio, and many took that time to explore the grounds and take photos. The landscaping is clearly a priority, the property is incredibly well-maintained, and the fall mums were especially stunning! There was also plenty of parking for guests, which made things very convenient. Another feature we loved is how each part of the day, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception, can take place in different spaces. It keeps the experience feeling fresh and exciting for everyone. Fishermen's Inn truly sets couples up for success with their organized planning process and consistent check-ins. Overall, we had a beautiful…read morewedding and many wonderful experiences with the venue, but there were also several major disappointments that we feel are important for future couples to know about. From the very beginning of our planning process, Erin, our day-of coordinator, was wonderful. She was personable, honest, extremely helpful, and always willing to answer our questions. She made the planning process feel seamless and did a great job taking stress off of me as the bride. We truly appreciated having her throughout the planning process. It is important for future couples to know that we were responsible for setting up everything the morning of our wedding. We were not permitted to set up anything the day before, so our family and wedding party had to handle all of the setup on the morning of the wedding. This was a significant amount of work to take on before the wedding even began, but thankfully our family and friends were amazing and made it happen. Our wedding was in the middle of a Midwest summer, and the day before the wedding, we made the decision to move our ceremony indoors because of an extreme heat advisory. Erin and her team handled that change very well and made the transition as stress-free as possible for us. Our ceremony was beautiful, the dinner was delicious, and we were very happy with how the food accommodated our guests' various allergies. Unfortunately, the biggest issues occurred because of severe weather and the power outages that followed. We were not made aware that Fishermen's Inn had experienced a power outage the night before our wedding after lightning struck. As a result, the chandelier in the dining room and the lighting in the overflow seating area were not working at all. This left some of our guests eating dinner in very dim lighting. We understand that lightning and storms are completely outside of the venue's control, but we do feel that we should have been informed about the issue before the wedding so that we could have discussed possible solutions or made alternative arrangements for those tables. Later in the evening, after our first dances, the power went out again. This created much more significant issues. The bathrooms immediately became a major concern because there was no running water and the toilets could not flush, yet our guests were not immediately informed and continued using the facilities. This became a serious sanitation concern for our guests and was one of the most disappointing aspects of the evening. We had also paid for an upgraded beverage package, including two specialty mixed drinks. When the power went out, the fountain drinks and mixers needed for those specialty drinks were no longer available. Eventually, the bartenders were also unable to serve mixed drinks such as Jack and Coke. After a period of time, hard liquor was no longer being served unless it was served on the rocks. Given that we had paid for an upgraded beverage package, this was understandably frustrating. Another major concern was accessibility. Our cousin has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair that weighs over 200 pounds. When the power went out, the elevator stopped working. His wheelchair had to be taken downstairs using a steep, sketchy ramp. Thankfully, the wheelchair made it down without any hiccups, but the situation was extremely stressful and emotional for our cousin and our family. Several of our firefighter guests stepped in to help safely get him and his wheelchair downstairs. Having an accessible backup plan for an emergency like this would have made an enormous difference. Our late-night snack was also affected by the outage and was served cold. By that point, after everything that had happened, we ultimately did not want to eat it. We completely understand that Fishermen's Inn cannot control severe weather or a lightning strike. What was disappointing was the lack of preparation, communication, and backup solutions once the power was lost. A backup generator, a clear emergency plan for the bathrooms, communication with guests about the water and restroom situation, and a better accessibility plan would have made a significant difference. We were also disappointed that we never received any follow-up communication after the wedding. We did not receive an email acknowledging the power outage, checking in to see how we felt about the experience, or even a simple "thank you for choosing Fishermen's Inn." Considering the circumstances of our wedding night, some type of follow-up would have gone a long way. Despite these challenges, we are grateful for the beautiful parts of our wedding day and especially for Erin, who was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She was a bright spot in our experience and truly cared about making our wedding day special. We hope Fishermen's Inn takes this feedback seriously and considers putting stronger contingency plans in place!

Compared with other venues (and considering how the food selections paled in comparison), Reserve 22 was better for the budget and yet delivered and EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE! I booked them a mere 10 weeks prior to my wedding and their event coordinator was very accommodating. We had about 30 guests attend and the Grill Room and attached dining area was just the right size for us. Since we were a smaller group as far as weddings go, many other local venues didn't want our business or didn't want to give us a Saturday date. Glendale Lakes, however, not only gave us Saturday - they gave us fantastic service as well. We held the ceremony in the Grill Room, then moved everyone to the dining area (separated by a wall from the ceremony room), while the DJ and dance floor people set up in the ceremony room. Once everything was set up, the wall between the two rooms was removed and it became one large room. The transition was seamless and did not detract from dinner. The rooms were beautiful (no hideous casino carpet here) and reasonably priced. We had considered similar venues that were 2 or 3 times the cost and decided we'd rather pocket the cash and save by having our wedding here instead! The mantle over the fireplace in the Grill Room was breathtaking once decorated with flowers and candles. It made a gorgeous backdrop to the photos of my groom and I seeing each other for the first time that evening. If you're considering having your wedding here, visit the rooms when they are set up for a wedding - they "show" so much better when they are decorated. The dinner food was AMAZING. I usually hate wedding food and grab some takeout afterwards, but this place delivered! We offered our guests the filet (steak), garlic chicken, and salmon. We heard rave reviews on all 3 dishes, and I personally ate as much garlic chicken as my corseted dress would allow me to pack in! They have a patio area out back that was just gorgeous for photos. We were there during sunset, and the sky was lit up pink and blue behind us in many of our pictures. Just a few things were disappointing: The venue has a few party rooms, and the one next to us was LOUD. My dinner was accompanied by blaring music leaking through the wall. They could use better soundproofing between their rooms. During my dad's toast, all some of us could hear was the polka beat from next door. Glendale Lakes gets points for trying to quiet the other party down a bit during our dinner, but they weren't successful. And my other complaint is that they only served the chocolate part of my cake! During the cake cutting, my husband and I cut a chunk out of the vanilla center, but in the kitchen they only cut up and served the chocolate part. When I complained, they apologized and told us they didn't know there were different flavors. That's a hard sell with me - my husband and I had already cut a chunk out of the middle layer, revealing the vanilla inside. How do they miss that? I specifically ordered a two-flavor cake to cater to people who prefer one flavor or another, so I was disappointed to see chocolate getting served exclusively. Overall, Glendale Lakes is great for small groups (and for big groups, too, by the looks of the party next door to ours). My wedding was beautiful and I'm thrilled they came through for us.

Nancy the banquet coordinator was very attentive and helpful through out the entire process. She had designated two helpers which were on point for the entire event. One girl's name was Haley and unfortunately I did not get the other girls name. They were there from the very beginning to help us decorate the room. They stayed close by throughout the duration of the party and helped clean up at the end. The food was delicious. They have a rule that they only are able to keep the buffet food out for two hours to ensure quality. I requested it be served at 11:30 but not all of our guests had arrived yet, so they took the initiative to delay serving it until more people had arrived. Fantastic. When it was being served it was hot and delicious. We chose the Salad, Salisbury steak, chicken dumplings, mac and cheese, buttery corn nibblets, dinner rolls and apple crumb cake to be served. I also had two guests that needed to eat gluten free due to food allergies and (with prior notification) the chef had accommodated them wonderfully. The girls also came around frequently offering refills on pepsi products, juices, or water. Lunch was a hit. Unfortunately they did not allow us to box up the remainder buffet food to send home with the guests as it is against their policy. Perhaps, in future they can draft up a waiver that allows the guests to take the food but not hold the hall responsible in case someone gets sick. The atmosphere in the big hall (i believe it's called the fonte room) is much more pleasing than the smaller hall. The smaller one is long and narrow and completely carpeted. It lacks natural light but, does have a very charming faux fire place and mantle which serves as a great photo opt spot. The bigger hall is beautifully lit with natural light and has a beautiful damask wallpaper design on one wall. It's also half carpet and half wood which serves as a great dance floor. Another great party at a great venue. On top of having great prices we even got a discount for being returning customers. Thanks Glendale Lakes!

The fire pit was nice and inviting. The liive music was soothing, and the staff and volunteers worked hard to ensure a successful event. There were many brews, seltzers, and wines to try. My Cocina food truck was a highlight! The grounds here are well cared fore and it was convenient to have benches and tables to sit at.
