He did indeed and must have sensed my frustration with what had become known as the plumbing twilight zone at my house. I was stoked he agreed to come to the next day and take a look. He showed up AND was on time (I live up off of Alba road so it's not easy to find) He was great about explaining things to me and tried for a few hours to figure out why the washer was backing up into the tub... along with a few other things that didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. It was late, so Dave had to resign despite not figuring out the issue. My tub is a weird design, and everything is tough to access, etc. There was no question he tried everything he could. He apologized and said there was no charge (!!) He gave me a few other plumbers to call and wished me luck. The next day he texted me to ask if I'd be home Saturday morning. He had been thinking about my set up and had a few more ideas. I could tell it was bugging him and he wanted to get to the bottom of the issue. LOVE that in a person!! Saturday morning, Dave shows up (on time again) and conquers it. Dave is very kind, respectful of your house/property and a true master at what he does. He's also a crazy wealth of information. I was literally following him around with a pad of paper and pen writing stuff down (and he didn't mind lol). My only regret is finding him 13 years too late! Texas you lucked out!

I found DPS Plumbing on Yelp and called them to check a pipe leak in the attic. Dave was quick to…read morerespond and mentioned his hourly rate was $75 per hour. I agreed and had Dave come out the next day to assess the damage. Unfortunately, the ceiling sheetrock collapsed overnight from the water accumulation, but the good thing was the attic was now exposed for Dave to easily see the leak. Dave arrived right before 9am and gave an estimate of $623, which was 6 hours of labor totaling $450 and $173 in materials. I thought the estimate was high (he first wrote 5 hours but crossed it out and changed it to 6 hours). And his estimate didn't include replacing the ceiling sheetrock afterwards. When I asked Dave if it would really take 6 hours to repair since he could see the leak easily and didn't have to hunt around for the leak, he said yes 6 hours. Since all that water was starting to soak the carpet and furniture, I decided to just get it done and agreed to the estimate. Dave started at 9am and finished around 12 noon. After he was done, I asked if it would still cost $623 since it only took 3 hours instead of 6 hours. He said it's still $623. I paid it and reminded myself to never call him again or recommend him to friends & neighbors. Btw, Dave used about 8 feet of AquaPex tubing to replace the bad section of leaking galvanized pipe. I checked afterwards and AquaPex costs around $50 for a large 100 feet coil. I don't see how he could justify charging $173 for 8 feet of AquaPex tubing and some pipe fittings. In summary, Dave was responsive and able to complete the repair, but way overcharged on both labor and materials. I understand there's overhead to run a business (licenses, insurance, gas, etc). But to charge 6 hours of labor for a job that was completed in 3 hours, plus $173 for materials that cost $30-$40 at most, that just seems wrong and bad for the business reputation. BUYER BEWARE - THINK TWICE BEFORE CHOOSING VANDERFORD AIR…read more I chose Vanderford Air because their website promises "Customer Satisfaction is our #1 Priority," "Quality Workmanship," "Honest Communication," and "Repairs Done Right the First Time." Unfortunately, my experience over the last three years has been the exact opposite. I purchased a brand-new A/C system in July 2023. Within a week, it wasn't cooling properly due to low refrigerant. The same issue happened again in 2024, but instead of finding the leak, I was told to spend more money on a second return. They installed the wrong return box, damaged my ceiling, and later I discovered they failed to connect the drain properly, causing water damage inside my wall that I had to repair myself. In July 2026, the system again wasn't cooling. The technician confirmed the condenser coil was leaking, even though I had complained about refrigerant loss since shortly after installation. When I spoke with Service Manager Dan, he claimed there was no history of my previous service calls until I provided documentation. Rather than taking responsibility, he dismissed my concerns and refused to let me contact the owner directly. After negotiating, I agreed to pay $1,200 because I was promised the leaking coil would be replaced and the incorrect return installation would finally be corrected. When repair day arrived, the crew wasn't even Vanderford employees--they were third-party subcontractors. They showed up with the coil but knew nothing about fixing the return box. While working, one of the subcontractors fell from my attic ladder carrying equipment. I was more concerned about making sure he was okay than Vanderford seemed to be. I requested a call from management and never received one. After spending thousands on a new HVAC system, I've dealt with repeated refrigerant leaks, poor workmanship, home damage, broken promises, and a lack of accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Vanderford Air.

Over the past 4 years I have spent over 20,000 with them only to find out most of what had been done is either useless or not done correctly. Every time I've had an issue they have sent techs out that eventually tell me I needed new coils, new dampers, new plumbing, to have my ducts cleans, and a new outside unit. I don't know a lot about AC so I take it as they are being honest and I just want my AC to run correct. But last year we invested 13000 in a new outside unit, by their recommendation, to fix the new issues we were having and things got worse after that. The house never really cooled correctly after getting the unit and I had humidity issues inside the house. They would send people out to look at it but I was always told things were great. Eventually the compressor in the brand new unit went out and even though it was less than 10 months old and under warranty I was charged 1400 to put the new one in for the "labor" costs. The issues with cooling and humidity continued after the pieces was replaced. I then decided to reach out to a new company to get their opinion on my issues and when the owner of the new company arrived he literally laughed when he saw my ac unit and the work that had been done. He asked who had done it because he wanted to call them himself and complain once he found out what I had been charged. He found holes everywhere in my duct work that had been coved with layers of tape after tape, Leaks around every new damper they had installed and several of the dampers had zero insulation round them and was allowing air to leave the system and hot air to enter. , thus causing my humidity issues and not allowing it to cool the house properly. He also said the compressor issue was because the unit they recommended I buy was not made for the system I have installed and it was overworking and will continue to go out over and over. I have attached pics of just some of the places where you see that they just taped over the issues. He said it was some of the worst ac work he has ever seen done by a "professional". We sat down and went over all the money I had spent with vanderford and what had been done for the money. I was told the majority of what I spent was not necessary if they would have just been honest with me and fixed the root cause of the issue to begin with. Maybe they were being dishonest, maybe their techs didn't know what they were looking for and couldn't find the issue, or maybe they just didn't care to fix it and kept taping the holes knowing I would keep spending money with them. Either way it sucks and Im kicking myself for the time and money I spent with them. The yearly maintenance plan is joke. Had it for 6 years and guys show up, act like they inspect your system and then recommend you buy something to make your system more efficient. FYI.. The new company fixed my issue in ONE day and completely redid the work that vanderford had done and my AC is running better and more efficient than it has in years. Vanderford had been trying to "fix" or "find" the issue for months. Thankfully I called them before the humidity issues vanderford was allowing to happened called mold issues or more in my home. Be careful what "experts" you trust or it may cost you thousands.

Our garbage disposal started leaking on Sunday and we needed someone quickly. The companies we used before weren't available until Wednesday and couldn't give me a quote without coming out. I sent messages to several companies on Yelp and Inheritance Plumbing responded within minutes. Their service fee was $125 but waived if we approved service, which seemed fair. Chris estimated a 3:00pm arrival but later texted that he was delayed. He didn't arrive until 5:00pm. Once here, he quoted $785 to replace the disposal. Based on my research, average cost is usually $400-$500. I asked for details and was told the price included a 50% markup on the disposal plus a $350 flat fee. I reluctantly approved because our schedule didn't allow us to wait longer without a working kitchen sink. Afterward, I looked up the exact disposal and saw it cost $200 at Home Depot. Even with a 50% markup (which I also think is high) that would be $300. I also know that businesses don't pay customer costs so that seemed really high. Add in the $350 labor, and the total should have been closer to $650. With cash and first time customer discounts, we paid just under $700, but I still feel this was significantly higher than fair market pricing. I later spoke with two friends who own plumbing companies, and they confirmed that the price should not have exceeded $500. We also run a few businesses and I understand needing to cover overhead and labor costs, but this felt more like an "emergency fee" than a standard labor charge and feel like we were price gouged. I called 2 more reputable local companies the morning after and both quoted under $400. As a consumer we would expect fair pricing and this was definitely not fair. Overall, the work was completed professionally and same-day, but the pricing was much higher than other companies. For that reason, I personally would not use this company again.

The company had to jump through a lot of hoops with the condo office, adding the condos to their ins policy, and providing documentation of their ins and of Iris' master plumber license. And these old condos were built so there is not a main water cut-off for each unit, so the complex only allows plumbing work that needs water cut off to the unit during two short windows of time during the week, since it affects a whole group of units, so that was another hoop the plumbing company had to jump through. Iris ending up needing to replace two of the water supply lines as well. She is also helping us find replacement trim kits for our tub/shower fixtures. I didn't realize it was so hard to find the proper replacement for such old fixtures (that aren't marked with a manufacturer!) I know Iris and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of League City will come through for us and solve this issue for us as well! Highly recommended. A little pricier than I thought it would be, but considering all of the hoops they had to jump through, probably justified. And they do top notch work, for sure!
