A library card is free, and they recently eliminated all late fees and lost book fees (not sure how that's gonna work out....) If you bring a utility bill to show you have an Anchorage address you can check out up to 12 books at a time, otherwise you're limited to 3 at a time. Your library card also gives you access to a lot of ebooks and online movie rentals! The online website is super user friendly, you can reserve a book and the library will call you when it's ready. You walk in, and it's self serve pick up by last name. Super quick. The library offers a drive up return or you can go in person. Bathrooms are readily available and they have a little cafe.

Every single person I meet truly care about the animals. I have two cats I rescued/adopted from the shelter. Both supposedly had behavioral problem- not aggression but I read on the volunteer sheets that they were not very friendly. Missy, the female appeared depressed but I found out she had just had a litter and she was no more than a kitten herself- she came right to me. Jacko, the male followed a few days later. Again he wasn't very personable, so said the sheets, but he came right up to me a jumped on my lap- he came home with me. That was four years ago- both are weary of strangers and that probably will never change but every might I know whose sleep where. If I'm sick they are super attentive. They were waiting for their human. Adopt an animal from the shelter- if you can't have a pet, visit with them. Dogs, cats, bunnies, gerbils, birds and I think I remember some reptiles and amphibians too- you never know what you'll find. You can't go wrong with the shelter! So I'm 2008 when I was there she took me to this university to show me what they did with it. I was honestly in shock how they did the history of the Tv set and wrote a nice story about the Tv and about my grandmother's donation. It's a very nice university and I was very proud to see that her Tv is still on display there. In 2014 when she passed away I went back to this university to see if it was still there.
