I've been struggling with arthritis and chronic pain in my hands for several years since I recovered from carpal tunnel syndrome. I've tried various treatments from western doctors, but they only seemed to treat the symptoms and not heal the core issue. So after seeing some government research on the effectiveness of acupunture for treating arthritis, I decided to give it a shot. First session and most of my pain went away for a few days. Before treatment, my pain was around a 6/10 constantly. After the first treatment, it went down to around 3/10. Pretty effective so far, but would it last? After about 2 weeks of treatment and herbal medicine, my pain levels dropped to around 3/10 consistently. The inflammation reduced a fair amount to the point where my hands weren't constantly swollen red all day. Since my condition was pretty severe I decided to get treatment for about 4 months, 1-2x a week, and doing physical therapy on the side to rebuild my hand strength. Now I can gladly say that I'm mostly pain and inflammation free in my hands. My hands are still a little weakened from overuse and there's some lingering soreness in my right hand, but my physical therapy is helping with that. I can actually lift weights again, which I'd go into relapse if I tried that before I began treatment. All the staff were always so friendly and accommodating to me. The clinic was very clean and aesthetically pleasing, with relaxing classical music playing in the background. If anyone's worried about dirty needles, I haven't caught anything besides the occasional minor bruising and swelling after sessions sometimes. But they all quickly healed in 2-3 days. My insurance covered costs, but even without insurance it still would cost less than western doctors with insurance. I would strongly recommend anyone suffering from arthritis to try out acupuncture and maybe do physical therapy as well. I was having pretty serious tummy issues because of a food poisoning incident. I was put on Omeprazole for two weeks. In 2014 I got involved in a serious car accident where I was rear ended on the freeway. Since then, I have been having headaches everyday for six years. Yes, you read that right, six years... I have been suffering from sciatica pain in one of my legs due to herniated discs and other issues in my spine for the past weeks. I tried everything in terms of pain killers, oral and injectable steroids, anti-inflammatories, ointments, braces, special pillows etc. I started having excruciating, drilling pain during the night, which kept me awake for a few nights in a row. When not even Morphine would kick in, I felt desperate, and honestly starting fearing that I would die because of the lack of sleep. After the first acupuncture round, with the regular dose of Morphine I managed to sleep for 5 hours uninterruptedly and dozed off for another 3 hours after another half -doze of Morphine. After a second round of acupuncture the following day, I went completely pain-free to bed, slept with no pain killers for 6 hours and another 3 hours with half-doze of Morphine (so I basically cut my dosage by 2/3 by the second night). After the third acupuncture session I didn't need any pain medication for the night. To accomplish this in just 3 consecutive days is nothing short of a miracle. Kudos to Dr. Lin, who is the most knowledgeable, most personable and pleasant acupuncturist there is. He also prescribed Chinese herbs, a stir-in powder, bathing herbs, and used Moxibustion every time, which improves circulation, reduces inflammation, balances out hormones, detoxifies the liver etc. Another godsent intervention was that of their amazing massage therapist, Vincent, who on the second day made a manual adjustment/ manipulation and body assessment (not massage) with his pleasant, warm hands, which felt truly healing- at first all my pain was stirred up and then, within an hour, by repeatedly going over the achy spots, all the pain was miraculously calmed down, until it was completely gone. That was the day when I went completely pain-free to bed. I coupled these treatments with physical therapy. I love this practice. Dr. Lin is amazing! I had my knee locked and could straighten my leg for one month. I got x-ray and MRI scanning in other places, and other doctors said I had to do a surgery but it is hard to say if it can be fully cured. First I would like to say Dr. Lin is a amazing doctor in his practice! I have had a few experiences with chiropractors, and massage therapists, and they never really helped much for my leg pain. I had hurt my hamstring as my leg would cramp and tense up when I walk leading to limp. Well Dr. Lin informed me well about the practice of acupuncture and how it can be beneficial to my leg. To my surprise, he had brought my leg pain down to almost a zero! I had never given Acupuncture much thought. I honestly had no real opinions about it except that Charlotte on Sex & The City did acupuncture in one episode and it looked kind of relaxing. Still, I honestly had no real formed opinions about it. During my 33rd week of pregnancy my baby girl decided to turn and go breech on me! After talking with my doula she convinced me to make an appointment with Dr. Lin at 1st Choice Acupuncture and raved about his practices but that also, he could help turn my baby. The morning of my initial consultation with him, I had a check up with my doctor and wouldn't you know it, baby girl turned back in the heads down position. Instead of canceling my appointment with Dr. Lin I decided to see him anyway as I thought he might be able to help me with some back pain I had been having at night while pregnant. Dr. Lin was very informative and we had a nice consultation as well as an acupuncture treatment which he told me he would be using less needles since I was pregnant. That week the back pain disappeared and I never had to use my prego body pillow for the remainder of the pregnancy! YEAY! He checked my pulse and asked me a few questions about my fertility as well as if I was anemic. He nailed everything on the head just from reading my pulse. It was pretty [scary] amazing!
