Hops & Growlers is like a dive bar of breweries. It's very unassuming. It's just a cinder block building at an intersection across the street from a couple of gas stations and in front of a train tracks. No food onsite. Not a date night type of place. What they lack in atmosphere, they make up for in beer. This little spot has 20 beers on tap! Where in the hell do they brew it? The beer selection is top-notch, and the brewmaster is both knowledgeable and friendly. He let me sample several beers before I made my choice, which I really appreciated. We made a quick stop at Hops and Growlers while we were visiting Ocean Springs. There was a decent selection of brews available. We each ordered an IPA. It was good and cold in a nice glass. Not bad at all, just nothing special. The interior of the business was primarily wooden tables and benches and a couple hightop. It was very warm out and the AC wasn't really keeping up. The server was nice. It was nice, just not outstanding. read more

Back in OS area again and visited Hops and Growlers. This will be a thing each coast visit, it's that good. If you live in the area and you like craft beer and haven't been here, then you should make it a point to come by. The in house craft beers are plentiful and this brewer is not shy about trying different things, you just have to be brave and try some of those different things. We always start of with a sampler of 4 beers and go from there. It's a solid plan and sometimes I am really surprised at something I think I might not like that I end up liking the most. I been going to all of my favorite places when I am down covering for work for two weeks. This is my favorite brewery I have ever been to. It is still just as amazing as I remember and even better. Such amazing beer with such amazing flavors. 5-6$ pints. Beet and ginger sour was absolutely amazing/refreshing! I stopped in here in the afternoon on a Thursday and loved the vibe. The owner came out immediately to chat and was super pleasant. He asked what I liked and picked my first beer, which did not disappoint. Seemed like a cool operation and I'm all about a friendly beer spot. The variety of beer styles was impressive and I I was the only customer and other employees from the back floated in and out to chat and make recommendations of stuff to do near by. This gentleman that served us was super knowledgeable and offered great recommendations on which beers to try and their flavor profiles. Great conversation and very friendly. They sale many varieties of craft beer and have a build your own 6 pack. Refill your growlers. They carry your homebrew supplies and a knowledgeable staff. Scott Hixson is an experienced home brewer who has created a sublime brewpub experience. 20 taps, 90% of which are his own beers, and all of which are excellent, give visitors an opportunity to sample across the entire beer palate. On my most recent visit there were six German styles, including a Dunkel, a weizenbock, and a true Lager. The pieces de resistance are Scott's two foeder beers, which are based on a three year old culture and exemplify the classic Belgian sour styles. read more
