We'd been on the road for 10 hours and needed out of the car and something good to eat. The Porter Public House in the charming historical district sure delivered. My burger was really delicious. The meatloaf, which was outstanding! Friendly atmosphere, good service. Highly recommend!

I've gotten lunch pretty regularly here. It's normally the same thing, not sure what has changed but the turkey wrap AND fries definitely aren't made the same from every other time. I got nothing but the ends of the lettuce (literally even the parts people try to avoid in salads). Normally you can tell things are super fresh, usually small things were a hit or miss so I let it go but when the entire meal feels like a waste of money you can't really let it go. I hope they're able to bring back the freshness or whatever touch they were missing because this wrap definitely was not it. As always the waitress was wonderful!! Super attentive but I'd also like my food to be good.

Hair of the Dog and fries!

Went in for Lupper (Lunch and Supper). Had a flight of their beers which to me tasted a little watered down for some reason but they were good. The Hair of the Dog burger though...one of the best burgers I have had in forever. The fries were really really really good. The only complaint I have is about what the burger was served on. If you are going to serve a burger with a over easy egg on it, don't put it on a cutting board. Needs to be served on a plate so the egg yolk does not run all over the bar when cut. Service was good. Would have gave 5 stars but the cutting board thing was not a good idea. Will go back for sure but will ask for a plate next time.

This is a cute little pub in downtown Hattiesburg with plenty of parking. Their menu was quite small but had a large beer selection. The service was awesome, and they're very helpful. Their burgers were very delicious, but I didn't care for the fried onions in them. Their potato salad was delicious and the regular French fries were okay. The cookie dough egg rolls were a little weird but not bad. It was a little overwhelming. We finished all of our food. It was a nice experience.

I had one of the best hamburgers I have ever tried today and some decent beer to go along with it. The service was great as well. They have a huge craft beer selection along with their own beer that they make here. This place is definitely worth the visit

Had to wait at least 10 minutes just get our drinks, then we were completely ignored by the staff for another 15 minutes to order before we left. Horrible service and experience.

I just ate here for the first time a few days ago. The smash burger I had was great, and I tried two flagship beers that I enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and the place was clean. I can't wait to go back and try another menu item.

Fried Cheese Sticks, Fish & Chips, Pretzels, and Buffalo Chicken Poppers.

Ambiance: cute, hip, cozy bar type atmosphere with table/chairs and couches. My husband and I ate here at around noon on a Friday. Wasn't overly packed or noisy at the time. I ordered fish & chips, he ordered the buffalo chicken poppers. We also had fried cheese sticks and pretzels. Score breakdown/description below. -Fried cheese sticks: 5- served very hot, with a great delicate crispiness to the exterior batter and the stretchy cheese inside that you are looking for when ordering cheese sticks. -Pretzels: 4- served warm/hot, with chewy outside and thick fluffy inside. Not overly flavorful by themselves so the dip helps out there. Probably better ordered as a beer/drinking snack food than as a lunch meal appetizer. -Buffalo chicken poppers: 5- served hot and crispy, with tender/juicy inside. The sauce is definitely on the higher spicy side, just FYI for those who are not spicy lovers like us. -Fish & chips: 4- served hot, though the fish chunks are so thick that the batter has a difficult time staying crispy for more than a couple minutes. A bit on the "fishy" tasting side as far as most whitefish type fish & chips dishes go. Some people like that, some don't. Fries were a good accompaniment, and I prefer these thinner battered type crunchy fries like this, though I know some prefer steak type fries so that is why I mention it here. Overall good experience. Staff was friendly, food was good. Will return at a later date to see about their live music in the evenings and beer selection.

Trying to find a beer that I like more than Blue Moon! This is a great local brewery that is working to make a great brew ! Lots of IPAS

Come here for the brew on Friday nights and get live music free! It can get crowed but still a good time.

Oily Beer Cheese that tasted disgusting. Broken and separated sauce.

This place ended up being our choice and no regrets on that. Alexandra did an amazing job explaining the menu and also being patient with our lack of decision making. LOL. We ended up ordering two burgers as the place is named after burgers and blues (nice to hear a Muddy Waters tune coming by as well) - both Bourbon and Downtown burgers were delicious, had a REAL angus Pattie (and that was appreciated by our tastebuds), a nice bun that could be compacted to edible proportions (we have seen way a lot worse in our lives) and all the fixings were fresh. Oh yes, we added an order of fried pickles but did not expect a full-size order, still yummy but hard to stop.... lastly, we ordered the fried apple pie and a coffee to hold us over. Success on that one, that cake is downright dangerous as you cannot eat stop eating it. TOP stuff. Ambiance? It's a burger place in a medium size town and it delivers exactly that, none of the foo foo, but very honest. Great staff, very personable and courteous. 10/10.

The staff is attentive without hovering, professional without feeling scripted, and they genuinely make you feel welcome. The ambience hits that sweet spot -- energetic but still comfortable, making it an easy place to settle in and enjoy your meal. Now let's talk about the real headline act: the cheese grits. Absolutely out of this world. Creamy, rich, perfectly seasoned and the pepper Jack cheese added a wonderful touch-- they weren't a side dish, they were the star of the show. If they sold those by the gallon, I'd consider questionable life decisions. I ordered the shrimp po'boy. The shrimp themselves? Fantastic. Fresh, fried just right, and piled generously. The toppings and that homemade remoulade (or whatever magic sauce they're whipping up back there) were bright and flavorful. The only hiccup: the bread. The ends were toasted with the intensity of a NASA heat shield. I needed jaw strength training to get through the first few bites. Once you navigated past that crunchy barricade though, it was smooth sailing. I finished with the deep dish apple pie à la mode. I'm not sure if it was made in-house, outsourced, or assembled by a dessert engineer in a lab somewhere -- but I don't really care. It worked. Warm apples, flaky crust, walnuts, brown sugar, and cold ice cream melting into the whole situation... excellent flavor combo. Bonus points for a strong bourbon selection at prices that don't require a small loan application. That alone will get me back in the door. Four stars because of the bread battle, but I'd absolutely come back -- especially for those grits and a good pour of bourbon.

I ordered the lobster ravioli, which sounded like a life decision I'd brag about later. What arrived was 4 ravioli and 4 small shrimp -- which, in most cultures, is called an appetizer but I might just need to go on a diet. Flavor-wise it was... politely stated..Not bad, just kind of bland. Also the shrimp still had the tails on, so dinner became a part-time job. Nothing says "fine dining" like performing minor seafood surgery in pink sauce while your pasta cools. The wine list was the real plot twist. No rosé. No Sauvignon Blanc. I have never -- and I mean never -- gone to an Italian restaurant and ordered beer out of necessity. Yet here we are. It just didn't feel right. Now, credit where it's due: the garlic bread was actually really good (though I'm pretty sure it didn't grow up in that kitchen), and the limoncello cake -- confirmed not house-made -- was honestly the star of the meal. Service was great, atmosphere was pleasant, and I didn't have a bad time... Three stars: good evening, questionable portion sizing, and a restaurant that accidentally convinced me to drink beer at an Italian restaurant.
