The space offers an inviting and fun ambiance Even though it's located downtown, there's actually plenty of parking in their parking lot. There is also plenty of seating inside the restaurant. The interior looks like a gastronomic pub/brewery with brew equipment located towards the entrance. I would recommend doing this or consider ordering a flight of beer where you get the opportunity to try a few different beers. I've gotten lunch pretty regularly here. It's normally the same thing, not sure what has changed but the turkey wrap AND fries definitely aren't made the same from every other time. I got nothing but the ends of the lettuce (literally even the parts people try to avoid in salads). Normally you can tell things are super fresh, usually small things were a hit or miss so I let it go but when the entire meal feels like a waste of money you can't really let it go. I hope they're able to bring back the freshness or whatever touch they were missing because this wrap definitely was not it. As always the waitress was wonderful!! Went in for Lupper (Lunch and Supper). Had a flight of their beers which to me tasted a little watered down for some reason but they were good. The Hair of the Dog burger though...one of the best burgers I have had in forever. The fries were really really really good. The only complaint I have is about what the burger was served on. If you are going to serve a burger with a over easy egg on it, don't put it on a cutting board. Needs to be served on a plate so the egg yolk does not run all over the bar when cut. Service was good. This is a cute little pub in downtown Hattiesburg with plenty of parking. Their menu was quite small but had a large beer selection. The service was awesome, and they're very helpful. Their burgers were very delicious, but I didn't care for the fried onions in them. Their potato salad was delicious and the regular French fries were okay. The cookie dough egg rolls were a little weird but not bad. It was a little overwhelming. We finished all of our food. It was a nice experience. read more

The food was amazing when Robert was the chef there. The Porter is the Porter because of Robert Liddell. For the last 6 years, customers have gotten to experience a burger of the month. For 9+ years the loyalty Robert shown this establishment was unbelievable. So when the good start tasting come back and comment other than that don't say anything to me regarding this review. If you worked 120 hours and get paid a salary check when you wasn't salary and still be loyal. Loyalty is really hard to come across these days. It's hard to find people like Robert. Customers have gone to the Porter just because of the chef. I don't wish this establishment any bad wheel but I just wished the loyalty was the same as the chef was to the owner. Just about every dish was made and created by yours truly Chef Robert Liddell. Don't forget I you a burger of the month was created and made by Robert. Hate to be the outlier reviewer on The Porter but we just didn't have a good experience. Sought it out because of the good reviews and it might be the best bar/brewery in Hattiesburg, just it wasn't for us. Drove from Laurel for a draft West Coast IPA as they had a few on their www site. Turns out our first two choices from their selection were NOT AVAILABLE! Bummer, so we settled for a canned House of Coral IPA which was good, but canned. Menu is bar food centric and ultra carnivorous, had the "vegan" Pretzel which wasn't bad. Highlight of the evening was Dahlia our server that entertained us with samples of other choices and explanations of why they were out of the things we came for! She was great. read more

Ambiance: cute, hip, cozy bar type atmosphere with table/chairs and couches. My husband and I ate here at around noon on a Friday. Wasn't overly packed or noisy at the time. I ordered fish & chips, he ordered the buffalo chicken poppers. We also had fried cheese sticks and pretzels. Score breakdown/description below. -Fried cheese sticks: 5- served very hot, with a great delicate crispiness to the exterior batter and the stretchy cheese inside that you are looking for when ordering cheese sticks. -Pretzels: 4- served warm/hot, with chewy outside and thick fluffy inside. Not overly flavorful by themselves so the dip helps out there. Probably better ordered as a beer/drinking snack food than as a lunch meal appetizer. -Buffalo chicken poppers: 5- served hot and crispy, with tender/juicy inside. The sauce is definitely on the higher spicy side, just FYI for those who are not spicy lovers like us. -Fish & chips: 4- served hot, though the fish chunks are so thick that the batter has a difficult time staying crispy for more than a couple minutes. A bit on the "fishy" tasting side as far as most whitefish type fish & chips dishes go. Some people like that, some don't. Fries were a good accompaniment, and I prefer these thinner battered type crunchy fries like this, though I know some prefer steak type fries so that is why I mention it here. Overall good experience. Staff was friendly, food was good. Will return at a later date to see about their live music in the evenings and beer selection. read more

We had the Hair of the dog burger and the burger of the month the pizza party burger. Both were tasty and the food came out quickly. I tried the Witch Doctor black ipa and it was tasty. Only giving it 1 star because I can't give 0, but I truly had a terrible experience at this business tonight. I have been here before and had a regular experience, but tonight when we went in we were told shortly after sitting down that they only had burgers and chicken tenders left. We ordered loaded fries as an appetizer (they did apparently have this too) and it was extremely soggy and not good. Not even sure it had cheese on it. After we ordered our food, we waited probably 30 minutes to receive it. Everyone at the table got their food and then the server came up to me and said they ran out of chicken tenders before making mine. I truly had no reaction. Everyone already had their food and I was just being notified that they didn't have anymore chicken tenders to serve me mine. What??? Just ridiculous. The service wasn't bad, but there was absolutely no communication between our server and the kitchen. She was completely unaware of inventory amounts and failed to notify me prior to everyone being served their food that they were out of the meal I ordered. Won't be back! read more

I stopped in here as I was passing through Hattiesburg looking for a place to get some work done and have a good meal. I had their Meatloaf which was delicious and the mashed potatoes went well with the meal. They didn't have any of their Pilsners on tap so I went with their Irish Red Ale which was tasty. The space was great on a Tuesday afternoon to get some work done, relax and catch up with social media. They have free wifi for their customers which is always a plus! Definitely a brewery I recommend anyone stopping in and apparently this establishment gets quite busy on the weekend! read more

I was a long time customer. I had been coming into the Porter every week for about a year. I used to take my friends and family when they come to town. I recently found out that one of the Porter's live music acts, whom they have on their payroll and provide a platform to, beats their partner badly. BADLY BADLY. This partner has been seen around town with bruises and visible wounds. It is not a secret that these are from their partner. I have heard this information from at least three people. The Porter KNOWS ABOUT THE ABUSE and has continued to keep this person employed and paid. I can no longer support this business! I have already told several friends and family who have now also sworn off going to the Porter altogether. There are several better Brew Pubs in the area where I can get a beer, good food, and not have my money go to men that beat their partners. Shame on you. Do better. I will not be returning and I sincerely hope Evan stops hosting trivia here. Y'all don't deserve any business until no one on the payroll goes home to lay hands on their partner. My family will never step foot in this place again. Not being from that county we had no idea they had a mask "mandate". When we entered some guy behind the bar started yelling very loud and extremely rude at us. Absolutely astonished, we put on our masks and proceeded to sit (4' away) and take our masks off. He never let up. Continued to yap about it LOUDLY. Yelled at my wife and yelled at my daughter. I'd love to see this fella out one day. We stood up and left. Stunk in there anyway.
