She is gentle at the same time firm with the children. The place is always spotless, and very well organized, and that seems to spill over to the kids, my son definitely got more orderly after going there. I would highly recommend parents who are nervous about sending their child to daycare for the first time. It is home away from home for the children.

Before I put my daughter in this daycare, I saw Katrina B.'s comments. I thought her comments…read moreweren't true, and I was wrong. I really should have listened to her. When I brought my daughter to her class, I overheard the following comments from the director and some other teachers in the pre-k class "oh, stop whining", "don't be a cry baby", "(behind an angry little boy) nobody talks to him, don't say or do anything to him". I thought it was weird but I didn't think too much. My daughter is very outgoing and playful. She was also advanced compared to other kids her age. When she went to pre-k, the teacher only taught the class to sing and dance all day. After a couple of weeks, when she got to preschool class, I realized I couldn't find her on the camera during nap time. When I called in a couple of times to ask where she was, I was simply told she was sleeping in the corner. I trusted the teacher, didn't question anything. The teacher didn't tell me anything about my daughter. A few days later, I saw my daughter's bedsheet and pillow thrown on the floor in the corner of the classroom on camera, but I couldn't see her. I waited for 30 minutes to see if the teacher was going to do anything. Nothing happened. So I called in to ask if she was okay. The teacher blamed her for keep throwing her pillow to the floor, so they just left her alone, in the corner of the classroom where neither teacher nor the parent could see. The director explained it as if she agreed with what the teacher was doing. Then I asked what she was mad about; I didn't get the answer. I guess they didn't know. They didn't bother to find out why she was mad. I was told she had had problems napping for some time. I was wondering why no one told me anything about this. I started to pay more attention to the camera throughout the day. I found that every single day, my daughter was the only one who had to sleep under the rack where all kids' backpacks were hanging above her bed. That's also a blind spot on the camera so I wouldn't find out if I don't keep staring at the app. She was the only kid who got to sleep there, far away from other kids, during nap time every day. The teacher would sit next to all the other kids, pat them to sleep and keep patting them for hours. My daughter was left in the corner, by herself, sad and mad without any help. I started to think about it: I never see her teacher comforting her, or simply giving her a hug. One day, I stepped out of my office early to check out my daughter during nap time. My husband was checking the camera to see what was going on while I was driving: my daughter was left crying for over half an hour while both of the teachers were sitting with the kids who already fell asleep. When I finally saw my daughter, tears were all over her face. She ran to me and told me "shhhh", as if that's all she was told, just to be quiet. My heart was broken.....I wonder why the teacher just cannot sit with her for some time. Why the teacher just doesn't want to play with her. Since other kids are already sleeping, why cannot the teacher cannot free their hands and help her? If you hate my daughter so much, why has no one told me what I need to do about it? I cannot imagine how helpless she must feel all this time. I pay almost $450 a week just so you can do this to my daughter??? And the teacher hides her outside of the camera as if everything is perfectly fine. How convenient?! 3 y/o is when the kids start to develop their values and social skills, and this is the first thing you want them to learn? To single out those you don't like?

It checked all my boxes of being clean, diverse, and a learning environment but it also was organized. I appreciated that each room had a picture and description of each teacher including their background and how long they have worked there. I also loved that there was a dry erase board with information on next diaper and next bottle. As any new parents, we were nervous about the care anyone would provide that wasn't us. Now being at Chesterbrook for over 6 months with our son, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone! The cleanliness and organization continue to stand out, along with the teachers and principals kindness and love to not only our son but the other children there. They use an app called Links2Home and we get 4-6 pictures on average of our son throughout the day. Communication through the app with the teachers and principals have been quick and responsive to our requests. Recently we had asked them to switch the order in which he eats, bottles first then solids and they adapted within the next feeding time for our son. This past Friday they had a petting zoo and give us monthly finger paintings our son has done. It's difficult to allow someone else to watch your only child but I will say I have seen him blossom and become so social with others as well as seeing his natural joy be nourished with the same love that my partner and I give. We toured many daycares and had a failed nanny-share experience before learning about ITFDC and visiting Maliheh's home. We immediately witnessed her comfort and capability in providing childcare. Her home is bright, immaculately clean, and organized to facilitate play and learning. Maliheh cared for our first son from 4 months through 2+ years and our second son from 3 months to 2 years. All the while, she pursued additional training and credentials, and participated in both personal and professional development opportunities. She always looks for new ways to improve her skills and to keep things fun, interesting, and safe for the children in her care. In addition to how amazing Maliheh is, ITFDC was a joy to work with. Over our 4+ years with them, they responded quickly to all inquiries, provided efficient and transparent billing and other administrative requirements, and notably, provided us a direct point of contact for addressing all care-related questions or updates. We received frequent communication throughout the pandemic and clear policies as soon as children were able to return to care. I can't recommend ITFDC enough, and hope that more kiddos are as lucky as mine to be raised by the second-mom they've had in Maliheh.

One thing I really loved about the Infant Toddler program and our provider is that I literally know exactly what he did during the day, down to the times when his diaper was changed and whether he pooped. As a parent you are always nervous about changing routines for your children at the 3.5-4 year old age. We sat and spoke to the director, Kara and she couldn't have been any better putting my wife and I's nervousness/hesitation to rest. To this day I still talk to her and we plan on using the after school care program when my children start going to the public school in 9/2015. I appreciate people who don't handle me with kiddie gloves or sugarcoat things. If you ask Kara a question, she will be honest with you and that is all I ask. My kids were slightly younger than the other children in the Pre-K class but that program was absolutely perfect for them. At their previous daycare, they weren't being challenged and as a result they were acting out at home. Within 2 weeks of being there, my kids were able to write their name and started behaving better at home, something the previous place in Springfield wasn't teaching them. They were always learning something new and it was shocking how fast they were catching on to things. When my kids went there, the teachers for the Pre-K program were Ms. Alma & Ms. Ereen. They were fantastic. Another great thing about this place is that they make their own decisions with regards to snowstorms and "cold" weather. As Kara told me, they do their best to always open on time since they understand parents have to work. I sometimes didn't bring my kids to school when it snowed when every other entity closes but they were open. I learned that with the bigger centers like this one and the one my kids currently go to (My kids graduated from the Pre-K program and moved on) is that they are always open in the snow and makes it easier to manage "life" when bad weather hits. I would recommend this daycare, Pre-K to anyone looking for something new in the Centreville area or moving to the area. As I said we plan on going back there in the Fall for after school care.

I had my son (4) and daughter (2) enrolled here, and am…read moreimmediately taking them out due to the following: 1) September 2022: My son was left outside with another 4-year-old and the teachers were all unaware. I found him when I went to pick him up. They claimed they would be investigating the incident, but then never followed up. They never formally documented this via incident report for my signature. Had I not shown up when I did, I don't know if they would have informed me of this incident. 2) December 2022: My son was exposed to sexually inappropriate behavior from an older student enrolled at KinderCare. The staff apologized and said that they would "setup a program that talks about keeping hands to yourself". Again, this was never formally documented via incident report for my signature. Had my son not told me this happened, I would not have known. 3) December 2022: My daughter has a life-threatening food allergy to sesame, and I provided the center with epinephrine, Benedryl, and specific instructions provided by her allergist. On her last day, I asked to have these items back, to which they responded that there "must have been a loss of communication" because the items expired in October (it's now December) and thrown out. I was never notified, which means that my daughter has been attending school for 2+ months without access to life-saving medication. Not only is this absolutely negligent, THIS IS ILLEGAL (look up Elijah's Law in Virginia). To say that I am furious is an understatement, and I hope that NO ONE'S child ever suffers because their system for keeping medication properly stored is severely flawed. If you have children enrolled here that need access to medication, go ahead and ask them to show you where it's stored and see if it's accessible. It's likely that they threw it away and never told you, and your child is in danger. My top priority is always and WILL always be the safety of my children. The above incidents are not a result of "accidents" that happen due to watching toddlers. These are preventable safety issues that could be avoided if the staff here properly cared for these children. If your children aren't enrolled here and you're exploring options, look somewhere else.

My son has been going to this school for almost two years and has been flourishing in this environment, thanks to the dedication and patience with which the teachers have treated him. What I appreciate the most is the flexibility offered in order to meet every child's needs, and the kindness with which my son is being treated here.
