Ordered 2 remote control trucks for Christmas gifts. They were EXPENSIVE. Worked for a couple days and quit. Contacted company by email. They were not willing to do ANYTHING to help. Brought to local hobby shop and spent $25 on new batteries and Horizon Hobby would not cover the cost. It is impossible to contact them and actually talk to anyone in person. We thought we were ordering the the actual Axial company but the orders were filled by Horizon. Do NOT use this company for ANYTHING. Customer service is non existent, good luck with warranty even a month after purchasing 3 Arrma quakes one of the servos went out. I was told they placed an order for it but it won't be shipped out for another 7 months. I asked to replace my truck with a new one as it was a faulty truck but they said no as the parts replaceable. Despite the 7 month wait period for the part because of backordered. It's been 8 months and I'm reaching back out to support because I have still not even been shipped the part. June 2015: My first plane was the Aeroscout S and it had a faulty aileron servo in the left wing which did not show up on pre/dist check. Only when 20' in the air and nose dive into pieces. July: Second. The SUS 1.2m which arrived with a the left aileron hanging off the wing and the tail feathers are twisted to the left.., Crickets from Horizon Hobby.., and probably my last purchase of spectrum, Eflight, HobbyZone craft., There are many better choices than this! CAR IGNITED IN FLAMES - DO NOT TRUST THEM - NO CUSTOMER SERVICE INTEGRITY. I was a loyal customer of Horizon Hobby until today. Thanks to Matt G in customer service I will never buy there again and I have spent thousands over the years. I have bought two ARRMA Firestorms and use them to run my dogs. So I honestly don't care what they look like. What I do care about is that they don't spontaneously catch on fire and kill somebody like my latest purchase could have. For that Horizon Hobby should have quickly wanted to initiate a QA report to make sure there wasn't a problem with other RC units they were selling. But apparently they don't care. I upgraded to the ARRMA outcast. I got it, turned it on in my home. The ESC hissed and popped and burst into FLAMES right out of the box. Seriously.....My living room filled with smoke. I quickly carried the car outside. I called and talked to Scott M in customer service. I was quite upset mostly because of the adrenaline in my body at that moment. Things started to decline from the get go. At first Scott seemed reasonable and initially wanted me to send the car back. Then, after reviewing the photos, wanted me to take my time to disassemble the car and send only the parts that had been damaged by the fire. I got those back but now the transmitter was not paired with the controller he sent back. The technician clearly stated in the repair report that the ESC had wires that had been crimped together and was a manufacturer failure. Ok. So far so good. Right? Nope. The new unit would bind to the transmitter. The next day, not bound. I would have to unscrew the cover, bind it again, then the next day it would not connect. So I reached out to Scott again. Now remember this car is supposed to be ready "out of box" and all I'm doing is putting it together. So Scott instead of believing me told me to take it to a local Hobby Store. There is a Hobby Town in the town next over so I drove there. The tech bound the unit and told me to take it home and try it. So I did. It ran. So now I have been able to run my dogs for three to four days but each day need to bind the transmitter back and that take a lot of time. Next day....same problem. Now after making two trips to the store, doing my own repair on this, the local store is able to duplicate the problem. They go on record with Horizon Hobby that there is something wrong with the binding and that it is unstable. Does Scott want to help? At this point in time with a car that spontaneously caught fire, they should have replaced the car. Hope....not Horizon Hobby. They don't back their products. So I file a complaint with the credit card company and ask for half of my money back since the car is basically a burned refurbished car. Within one hour, Scott calls. Now they are ready to replace the car but I have to cancel the dispute with the credit card company. So, I cancel the dispute. I tell Scott that since they insisted I use the car that burned, that I have been using it to run my dogs. This means the shell of the car has teeth marks all up and down that. I'm fine with that. I often run the cars without shells because I don't care what the car looks like. I care that I can run my German Shepherd with a big prey drive. Scott says to send it all back. So I do. Guess what? Matt G sends me an email saying that I faked the whole thing. He said in writing that the car was chewed on (yeah we all knew that) and that the ESC didn't ignite in flames (it was like watching a fireworks fountain) and that I was just engaging in fraud to get a new car. He said they "marked my file" and would not honor any warranty. Despite two trips to a local store who confirmed the issues and multiple threads and emails with customer service, they basically threw me under the bus like I had done something even though their OWN TECHNICIAN CERTIFIED THAT THE ESC WIRES HAD BEEN CRIMPED TOGETHER AT MANUFACTURE. What an *& hole. How do you treat a guy who has spent thousands on your company, NEVER RETURNED ANYTHING in four years....and bought 3 high end cars and simply drop him off and threaten to call him out for fraud?! Low lifes. Do not shop there. Do not buy there. Things happen. I get it. But when they literally try to discredit a customer and make you feel bad just because you try to gem them to back their products on a legitimate problem (like a fire) then shame on them and their company. My Arrma "Vortex" R/C truck had its rcvr and xmtr already synced--it was ready to run--but I thought I needed to bind it before it would run. Short version: I should have read the instructions. It would beep and flash but had no steering or throttle. So I went to the Horizon website and was lucky to get "Ryan" on chat. He walked me through the process of accessing the receiver and setting the transmitter up so it would re-bind. Oh happy day!! The steering works and the throttle works!! I placed an order for a spectrum NX 10 radio 2 days ago and paid $40 for two day shipping. When my package did not arrive. I logged into hobbies and checked on my order. They told me the next shipment would be in August of this year, which is four months from now I spoke with someone his him why I did not receive an said the notice was on our page. I went to the page there's no notice about anything being on backorder so then I tried to order eight radio in my page kept locking up. It would not go to my stored credit card information he said he couldn't help refresh the page or delete cookies that didn't help so I went to a new computer still wouldn't order so I ordered it off of Amazon and they had plenty of NX 10 radios. I am writing in response to a request for feedback after contacting product support. I believe the experience could/should have been better. First, I also work in support. I have been in customer support for 20 years so I understand it's difficult to make everyone happy, but we do have control over tone and can always ensure we're making the customer feel like their feedback is understood and appreciated. This is specifically where I feel Horizon support can improve. My request was very simple. I had purchased an RC aircraft and the ESC was setup with a brake. My question was simple: Can we disable the brake? Follow up: Why is the brake enabled in the first place? Summarizing the response: No. Brake cannot be disabled and the brake stops the propeller so it doesn't create drag. Summarizing my follow up: I understand the brake stops the propeller, that's how I determined the brake exists in the first place. But this is a glider and the propellers fold back on their own anyway, a brake is not needed for that purpose, in fact, after the propeller stops, it is simply airflow that holds the propellers back, therefore there is no risk of drag. The brake creates a substantial momentary torque on the airframe unnecessarily. If it's possible for customers to provide feedback, I would like to request the brake be disabled by default or at least be possible to disable. I felt this was a reasonable request. All I expect a support agent to do is acknowledge my feedback and forward it on to the product team. Or if the support agent is unable to do so, they may recommend a different way for customers to provide product feedback. I received no response whatsoever. No acknowledgment of my feedback. The ticket was simply closed. Horizon Hobby as a company should understand that customers will buy more of their products if they listen to constructive feedback. This type of feedback should be welcomed and encouraged. The support experience can easily improve in this regard. read more

I purchased an Axial SCX24 Wrangle, $119. when I saw the price I was really grateful to see a model with the price so low. I charged up the battery, started using it and it went great for about 5 minute. I didn't even get through one battery pack and it will hardly go in reverse. I put an email in to Axial a week and a half ago. Their number online is out of service. No reply back other than getting a number to track my complaint. I then contacted the hobby co that owns Axial. I got a call back and they put me through to one of their departments to help. I was on hold forever and no one came on to help me. I was thinking of getting into RC aircraft. On the advice of of an experienced flyer I purchased the "RealFlight Trainer Edition" flight simulator. This is a product of Horizon Hobby. I was excited to get this product and learn to fly an RC plane without crashing it on the first flight. When I received the product, I accessed the program from the "Steam" game site and plugged in the SLT6 flight controller that comes with it. For some unidentified reason my Windows 11 desktop PC did not recognize the controller and the program did not launch. I was unable to use the program. I followed all instructions, looked at the various forums about RealFlight and could not resolve the problem. This is supposed to be a "plug and play" program. It is not! I reached to Horizon Hobby customer support and could not reach an agent. I went back through the order desk to get someone. They had me send a screenshot of the error message via email. I did so and after four days of waiting and seven ' emails sent I did not receive any response form Horizon Hobby. Frustrated, I decided to return RealFlight Trainer for a refund. I waited for over one hour on hold to speak to someone about the return (their website doesn't have info about how to return an item). I finally get a completely unhelpful rep clown he send me to product support how tell me that only customer support can authorize a return!! This company is complete garbage. I contacted horizon regarding an issue that I had with the 64mm viper main wing connection. When I connected the wing I accidentally broke the tiny servo connection and I contacted Eflite. I am writing this review in response to a warranty replacement. In my personal experience I have always received great service from Horizon Hobby. I own a lot of their products so have have had to contact their support team quite a few times over the years. They have always been responsive and friendly and they have always taken care of my issue to my satisfaction. Horizon has many brands under their umbrella and they do business internationally. For a "hobby company" that has this much reach globally, I would say that they do a great job and have great support. When you compare this with the cost of most of their products I would say they offer a great value to the consumer. I have not had the same experience with Horizon's competition. read more

I purchased a $30 model from them and they shipped the wrong item. I'm guessing that's there way of pushing unsold items out of the warehouse. I called them to process an exchange ( the phone line drops your call if you're not a vendor btw, no option to speak with an agent at all! ) and they said because I ordered it through them on Walmarts website they would not help. I have been trying to be patient and sent photos of the wrong item, the packing slip with someone else's order information, and the return label all with there information. I recently purchased a Carbon Cub S 2 1.1m . I wanted a easy to fly plane after being out of the hobby for 8 years and the Cub was highly recommended by a member of our club. The design and instructions are very good with a couple of caveats. When I setup the plane the instructions called for centering the control surfaces. The elevator when centered did not have a acceptable position in the beginner or advanced mode . The Chat Bot answered my question and told me to line up elevator with the bottom surface. I had already lined up ailerons with the adjoining surfaces. Instructions should have specifically pointed out these alignment requirements. When I complete a plane, I always do taxi testing to determine- capability to taxi straight with minimal control, to determine serious trim issues I lift off a couple of feet and land immediately , adequacy of power, and radio range. The Cub had a strong tendency to turn hard left when taxing on grass and on a smooth runway . Consequently ,I did not fly. I checked the thrust angle and found there was no right thrust angle with the motor Contacted Horizon tech Rep ,after Chat Bot was stumped, and waited for over an hour but after discussion with Rep to determine if turning was a frequent problem. It was not a frequent problem for the CUB ! Then we set up a plan and I ended up setting up a 3 degree right thrust angle for the motor, after wheels and control movements were checked. I then did my taxi testing which was successful followed by my maiden and several flights . Plane tracked well on the ground and the large wheels were good on the grass. In the air the plane tracked well without any trim changes , was easy to fly, will do aerobatics and landed easily. I have been rained out since but am eager to get back out to the field and fly the Cub to restore my flying skills. I would recommend the Carbon Cub for beginners with a trainer to assist and flyers who want a easy to fly aerobatic Cub. read more

Good Service and good selection - Usually get my orders shipped same day and arrives quickly.

I wanted to start flying EDF Jets so I ordered it EDF jet at 11:00 p.m. on a Sunday night. And I realized it was the wrong one, and since I couldn't contact anyone at 11:00 p.m. Sunday night I called them at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning to cancel the order and get store credit to buy another jet. The customer service representative said they have already progressed the order far enough that they cannot cancel it. I'm not sure how they've done this seeing as how I put it in less than 9 hours ago and the 9 hours have passed were the night time between Sunday and Monday, but that's what they said. So their plan is to ship it to me probably not even today, it'll probably ship in it three days or something, at which point I will have to ship it back to them. And they charged me to have it shipped to me so I'm going to have to pay both shipping charges because they refuse to cancel my order in the hopes that when I get it I'm going to keep it. But that's not going to happen obviously and I'm not going to get store credit anymore I want a refund which they're probably going to charge me a restocking fee as well. Bottom line is these people are going to screw you over if there's any mistake in your order or if you change your mind at all you're out of luck. I would not recommend anyone use these people there's plenty of other options, Amazon being a good one. Oh yeah the customer service representative was not helpful or responsive or sympathetic or anything except they offered to email me the instructions that they already have posted on their website on how to return this item.
