This place was freaking amazing from all accounts. You are greeted by a sign warning you that they are a slow food restaurant that is local and asks for patience...I love it because we weren't in a hurry and wanted to relax and enjoy our meal. Plus at the end it wasn't slow at all but pretty average paced if you ask me. My friend ordered the artisan fruit and cheese board to share and it was really good. We especially liked the contrast of the honey mustard and zing sauce.. I got Will's Mountain Club on grilled sourdough and its as on point...tons of flavor, just the right combination of meats and sauces and really crisp delicious bread. Service was outstanding, like really attentive and good, super friendly, very accommodating. Couldn't have been any better. One of the biggest things I loved about this place was their support of local artists. They had local fine art for sale everywhere around the restaurant. I was on a motorcycle otherwise I'd have taken several prints home but I had nowhere to put it. I did copy the artists names down and placed a couple orders when I got home. They also had things like sourdough chocolate chunk cookies for sale packaged inside. I bought one to eat later, never had a sourdough cookie before and it was great! They have a garden outside that's fun to walk through and I'm assuming they get some herbs from it for their meals. Good sized parking lot and easy to get in and out of and if you're on a bike you can park on the concrete by the building instead of the gravel. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area. Super adorable restaurant with plenty of parking and indoor/outdoor seating. Outside area is set up as if you are in a wonderful quaint garden. So lovely. This is a BYOB establishment. They have brunch, and dinner. They change up the menu for each season. You can tell that this is fresh. They also sell lots of local things. It's a mini shopping experience within the restaurant. It's awesome. Lots of tasty things for sale that are baked on premise in the house behind the restaurant. They make their own sourdough breads, buns, cookies, brownies, crumb cake, etc. Don't leave without one of these terrific treats. We got the gluten free granola and the sourdough crumb cake. Highly recommend both!!!! Service was awesome. Great servers who are very friendly and helpful. Also very attentive. A terrific customer service team. We ordered burgers. One with mushrooms and spinach dip and the other with caramelized onions and beer cheese. These burgers are from local farmers and the buns are made on premise. I cannot recommend the burgers enough! Just absolutely WOW!! Even if you have to order one for the table and cut it into pieces to just taste it - do it! We had the creamy coleslaw, seasoned potato wedges and both ordered the roasted balsamic beets. You can tell all sides are homemade. But, if you are a beet lover do not leave without trying these beets. They will be talked about forever. Just amazeballs. We didn't have room for their homemade desserts which was a bummer (there's a case so you can see the drool worthy creations). These too are made on the premises. Really great find. This is a farm-to-table restaurant that's a little off the beaten path, but it's also not all that far from the PA turnpike. The space is open and rustic with a hint of kitsch. There are plenty of canned preserves available for purchase throughout the restaurant with a brick pizza oven clearly visible in the kitchen. In terms of food, the menu is fantastic. There are vegetarian items, plenty of items that lean into the availability of a brick oven, and even some fermented items that really lean into the farm-to-table concept (e.g., house made kimchi). The Greek salad was nicely presented with capers and olives adding a nice pop of flavor without being over the top. The grain bowl was was a little out there, but still good. It just seemed like a somewhat awkward pairing of components. The cheesy brick oven breadsticks were good, but a little over the top: be prepared for an extremely fresh but extremely cheesy experience. Good, but best to be shared with a group. In terms of the service, everything was great. The staff were prompt and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was very friendly. Highly recommended if you're passing through the area. read more

The slaw served on the side was absolutely terrible. I rarely dislike a vegetable, and this was just awful. It had some type of yellow dressing but no flavor. My husband and brother's order was wrong. The waitress rarely visited our table so they both had to wait 10 mins to get her attention to fix the order. Not sure I'll try this place again. The food was okay, the reason why it was just okay is because the main dish we got was very spicy without warning. The appetizer we got which was cheese sticks had too much cheese too. The service here was not good at all, I know this is a slow process restaurant but I waited 25 minutes just to get my Zevia Soda. Overall the speed was horrible. Employees were not very kind either, this old man works and my mom needed water because the food was so spicy and he said I wish I could stop but I can't and ran away very fast. Our waitress was considerate of the poor service, therefore she gave us a 10% discount. The ambiance was horrible too the music was so loud and blaring in my ears. It is cool how they grow their own veggies. It is a very quaint place. Do not come here if you aren't planning to spend 4$ on a drink. They do offer veteran discounts but you only get a free drink. We loved stopping here and will definitely be back. It wasn't too far from the turnpike exit and WAY better than the fast food options. Here's our experience. 1) Food: Being a "freshraunt," the menu includes better-for-you options, salads, and even gluten-free options. I enjoyed the bowl of cream of mushroom soup, which comes with two pieces of buttered bread. (Ask for jam for the bread.) Despite being a bowl, it's not super filling so the cheeses potatoes (beer cheese comes on top of the potatoes) was a perfect compliment. My seven-year-old daughter appreciated the kids menu and enjoyed the grilled cheese. 2) Drinks: They have handmade sodas, coffee drinks, and more. If you have a sweet tooth, order the vanilla bean iced coffee. 3) Space: It's well decorated, quaint, and the little market has some gems in it- maple syrup, pickled garlic scapes, "zing butter," and more. 4) Service: It's friendly, but slow. It's inside of an old house with a ton of flowers and produce growing in the back yard. Very quaint but lush with greenery. Staff greeted and seated us as soon as we walked in. We chose to sit on the enclosed patio so we could look outside. My friend ordered the eggs benedict with a side of roasted vegetables, and I ordered the bean burger with a side of kim chi. Everything came out at a good speed and was very delicious. Looking at some plates around us, I would definitely want to come back and try some more items! Very fresh. Loose leaf teas are great. So nice to see a "Freshtaurant" - Farm to Table - place in the middle of nowhere. Well, I guess Bedford is not really the middle of nowhere, but I think it is safe to say that nowhere isn't that far away from here. Great service with a fantastic menu of daily specials. For me, I had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf that was on special. It was great, but a little on the chunky side for me. The real bonus was the creamy mushroom soup to start. This place lies outside of Bedford, PA and is tucked away on a hillside. The parking lot is small, unpaved and can be a challenge during busier times. The interior is "rustic" with a lot of furniture that appears to be made from reclaimed wood. It's different and has a charm that suites this restaurant fine. I had visited years ago and tried a pizza that was really tasty. I had since stopped by 2 or 3 times with no luck of getting seated in under 1 hour. You should definitely plan ahead because it's a popular place. "HOP", as I call it, is a farm-to-table restaurant and has some truly unique offerings. My wife and I spilt a burger and a 12" pizza. The bacon cheese burger was not for me but my wife really enjoyed it. The burger was tasty but overall presentation and build were not my favorite. I tend to like a traditional lettuce, tomato and onion burger. The "Zing" pizza was a real star. Their fresh made dough is hand built and fired in their brick oven. The sweet pepper sauce was flavorful, hard to describe, but I'd characterize it as being close to a honey mustard sauce. The various toppings of salami, pepporoni and veggies were fresh and delicious. It's a 12" pizza and comes in 8 slices. It could easily feed 2 with some appetizers or a salad. Although we split the pizza it was so good I would have ate the whole thing. HOP is a quality food establishment that's dedicated to fresh and local ingredients. Something to note, they apply a service "tax" to give their staff a living wage. No doubt it's pricey but I believe it's worth it! read more

I would say that we enjoyed the location. The building seems clean and inviting. While not terrible the staff wasn't overly attentive. I was a bit put off about the loud joking around in the kitchen--it seemed unprofessional. But really it comes down to the food. $23 for a hamburger with potato wedges and coleslaw. Most of the wedges were too burnt to eat. The beef in the burger was excellent but it was supposed to come with carnalized onions. I had switched out the cheese so perhaps that threw it off. The cole slaw was only edible because I was very hungry at the time--vinegar based with nothing creamy or sweet. But really what lost them a whole star was the catchup. I like a good catchup and this was "homemade". I don't have words to describe it but it is hard to see how anyone could like it. It was so bad I tried it twice just to double check that I hadn't ruined it with expectation but no it was still very bad the second taste. To me not at all worth the cost and they mentioned they would be raising prices soon. I'm sure it is a tough environment for restaurants and perhaps other things are excellent there. They seemed to be big on coffee and specialty drinks and chili. This is just one experience. read more

My friend had the jerk beef ribs with shrimp. She could cut the ribs with a fork. They were well seasoned, not too spicy. Her garden salad had a honey-mustard viniagarette which must have been homemade - we forgot to ask. It had actual mustard seeds and I'd love to buy it bottled. I had the spinach stuffed chicken breast with mushroom risotto and roasted vegetables. I declined a bite of my friend's ribs, because the flavor of my meal was so fabulous I didn't want to mix flavors. I almost never turn down beef! We had to try the desserts. I'm NOT a fan of tomato sauce but i enjoyed this and didn't scrape it off as i usually do! Definitely a favorite! reviews seemed okay so we stopped after visiting the fall festival. The cheeseburger was overcooked and dry as was the stale dry bun, wilted discolored lettuce and mushy over ripe tomato. Seemed like yesterdays burger heated up. The Cole slaw was big chunks of cabbage stuffed in a little tin cup. Not appetizing. The potato wedges were okay but there were only 6 pieces. The waitress said it looked like half an order so she will take it off the bill. She didn't. They were $4 on the menu and $5 on the bill. Our other sandwich was a ham, egg and cheese on some French toast tasting bread. The eggs had black specks on them, I'm guessing from frying them on the wood fired grill. It was a tad better than the burger. The iced tea was okay though. 2 sandwiches, a couple potato's and 2 iced teas = $50. plus tip. NOT AGAIN read more
