Wow, a tiny place! I did not have any food here during my visit, so this review is just for the beer, service, and the place itself. While staying at the Inn, I noticed that the person who had checked me in earlier was also present here. It gave me the feeling that this place was an integral part of the Inn. Funny, I had no idea that there were stairs around the corner leading up to it. Anyway... one of the first things that surprised me was the length of their beer list. Well, not only the length, but also the fact that the selections also had ratings attached to them, possibly from Untappd. I wish every place did something like this! It was funny to see the sign about the Best Bartender being voted from here in 2021 by the readers of the Bedford Gazette. A small town, with a small town paper. To be fair, Bedford is also a county in PA. Anyway, I don't know if it was Tom who served me, but I was super impressed with his kindness and attention. Yeah, I'm definitely not in NJ anymore...

The beer was nice and cold and good!

We're in from Lancaster, Pa. We had the pulled pork tacos for lunch, very tasty, tender and smoky. We also had clam strips, they were tasty too, tender, not rubbery. The beer was very good too. The service was very good. The ambiance was nice, we sat downstairs at the pub.

What an unexpected surprise! This was our 3rd choice when looking for somewhere to eat between Ebensburg and home. But the power was out in Ebensburg so first choice was closed, and the 2nd choice only took cash and who carries cash. There is an upstairs dining room but the friendly server directed us downstairs to the pub. Both the server and the bartender were terrific, and recommended the lobster salad special. We also ordered fried pickles. We were blown away, the food was really amazing, light and crispy pickles and a huge buttery sandwich with chunks of shrimp and lobster. When we heard there were some kind of caramel apple beignets how could we not get those too. This was a fantastic find!

If you don't mind waiting for drinks for a while & servers that really don't check back... the food was good, the cocktail... just okay. As far as ambiance... it's a down stairs bar.

We stopped based on Yelp reviews and loved the experience! Great food and service. Highly recommended.

Love the inside atmosphere. This place is awesome !

I knew I was going to like this place as soon as I walked in the door. While it is fairly small, it more than makes up for that in character. Everything about the Pub is fun and interesting. From the menu, to the outstanding craft beer selections to the atmosphere. I only wish I had the opportunity to try a few more things on the menu. The French Onion soup looked amazing. I chose the "Dubliner" burger which is a combination Reuben / cheeseburger and it's Outstanding. Just the right amount of everything on fresh rye bread (or possibly pumpernickel). I got mine with a really nice side salad. The craft beer menu is extremely impressive, especially for a relatively small town. Additionally, the gentleman behind the bar certainly knows his brews. He pointed me to an IPA that I had never heard of before that turned out to be fantastic. I posted a pic below. I can't wait to have a reason to come back to Bedford just to stop in again at the Golden Eagle Pub. I promise that you will love it.

Service and ambiance were perfect. The food was somehow better than perfect ... we tried the wings, fried cauliflower, Brussel sprouts .. but the "Crabby Pretzel" took the CAKE. I love warm pretzels and beer cheese but THIS warm pretzel, smothered in crab, cheddar cheese and ole bay was exceptional. I'm from south Florida and eat out A LOT. Take my word for it - this is a hidden gem.

My wife and I had just come back from Ireland and decided to go to the Fall festival in Bedford. We stumbled upon this tavern and it was AMAZING! A pub that looked very similar to those that we saw in Ireland! And they had Guinness on draft! And of course poured it perfectly! The food? Also amazing! This place is a gem!

Good food, strong cocktails, friendly vibe. Bar tender was helping out the server. They were quite busy and a bit overwhelmed.

The crab egg tool and ahi tuna tacos were the best ever! The service was great. The place is beautiful. We will be back to Bedford!

The food and ambiance were ok. We found the food lacking flavor and variety. Not sure we would go back there again for lunch.

We were pleased with the service and food. We had a flatbread pizza and fried clams. Both were quite delicious.

Have you ever made an incredible discovery, but not wanted to share it with anyone else, lest your…read morespecial spot lose some of its magic? That's how I feel about Village News. However, I'm terrible about keeping secrets. Plus, especially in this challenging business climate, local shops need all the support they can get. If you are a beer lover who enjoys rare and aged bottles of hard to find or out of production beers, this unassuming spot has a remarkable and delightful selection of brews I never expected to stumble upon in a tiny Pennsylvania town. Part of me wanted to buy everything and find a way to schlep it all back to Michigan. Instead, I chose to just get what I could enjoy on this trip, and save the other bottles for those fortunate souls who might learn of the treasures that await inside. I got: The latest vintage (2020) Bourbon County Barrel Stout, but the Kentucky Fog variant which I had never seen before. It was the best BCBS I've had to date. A large format bottle of Goose Island Halia from 2016 which was simply delightful! It was drinking perfectly, and I was tempted to go back and see if they had any more. A large format bottle of Goose Island Lolita from 2016, which was also drinking well, and was a pure pleasure with the integrity of the raspberries holding up to the years. A New Belgium La Folie from 2017, which I had the chance to try back in 2017, so it was super fun to taste a funkier version of it with more years in the bottle. The Smuttlabs Brett & I may not have held up quite so well since its 2016 bottling. Most of the carbonation had dissipated. That said, its brightness was the perfect pairing for some charcuterie back at the family farm. Similarly the Wild Devil Brett IPA from Victory Brewing, aged in red wine barrels, didn't quite hold up as well to the years. However, it was still fun to drink. But I didn't even scratch the surface. I asked the bartender if I could take a snapshot of the beer list to show my friends in case they wanted additional bottles. She said yes. And since I consider so many folks in the Yelp Community to be my friends, here it is. Hopefully I can make it back to Bedford in December. All I ask is that you leave me a couple of bottles so I can try some more rare and old beers without having to stand in line with the bearded masses of craft beer chasers. The weird gray market of beer trading is just not my scene.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Salad portion was a bit small, but the coffee was delicious.read more
