We stayed at the Omni and our dinner here was a standout. I was initially bummed since I was hoping to book a reservation at the steakhouse. But this place turned out to be even better and perfectly suited for my family's needs. The photos of the restaurant don't do it justice. I was nervous it would be a stuffy, cavernous environment inside. Instead, I found it surprisingly open, with great energy and not too dark but not blindingly lit up. We got a table along the wall, where we could look out at the entire dining room as well as the open air kitchen. Our server Stephen was a real delight. He was friendly, took great photos of our family and so chatty with us. We enjoyed his energy and all his spot-on recommendations. He was also really friendly with our kids who were transfixed by his many stories of working there. My daughter usually doesn't stop talking but she actually didn't say a word as he talked about all the fun moments of working at the resort over the years. We enjoyed the bottle of wine, and were impressed that he noticed it didn't seem quite up to standards with a compromised cork. He quickly took it away and brought us a fresh bottle. The food was delicious and I went with his recommendation of the duck. My partner got the short ribs, which I was also considering. Both meals were great. The chef also sent us some amuse bouche prior to the meal along with some bread, which we quickly devoured. I would totally come back here. We had the tea service earlier in the day, which was okay. But it felt a little dead inside and the back room where it was served had a very quiet vibe. Dinner at this spot is definitely worth checking out. read more

The Crystal Dining Room within the Omni Bedford Resort in Bedford, PA is lovely. It is spacious either a fairly large sized back room, presumably for overflow or private groups or meetings. Everyone whom we encountered was most gracious, friendly, and accommodating. I'd like to particularly recognize Michael, who'd served us twice, as well as Marsha. This is an upscale place to be sure, and prices are commensurate with the aforementioned environment. My wife and I had breakfast there thrice, and supper one. Everything was delicious. I cant comment on spiritous libations as I do not partake in them. In addition to prompt service and checking on us frequently, there were such personal touches as Michael asking if we wanted coffee to go following breakfast, and then inscribing " Thank you! Michael " on the Styrofoam cups. It is one of several restaurants within the resort, and was likely my favorite. I cant see how this is young kid friendly. I have enough trouble sitting still as an older adult, let alone a toddler or preschool youngster who have to poop with great urgency immediately upon eating. Stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night after never having heard of this restaurant despite staying in the hotel and coming here several times over time. Made reservations for a Saturday night and pulled up nearly on the dot of our time. We were sat immediately and were told our waitress would be over. 10minutes went by and then were handled. We put in a drink order - the wine came out after 10minutes, and my mixed drink coming another 10minutes. The Manhattan had ice in it - which is wrong bc it wasn't ordered that way and that altered the drink's taste. Was a rough start if everyone is honest. We ordered Caprese for which they split for us. It was very good - just solid execution and fresh. For the entree I went with the steak au poivre which came with asparagus and potato sticks - which was odd to me. I mean legitimate potato sticks out of a can. Anyway - the steak, which I ordered medium came out medium rare, leaning more to the rare side. When asked I sent the steak back - mainly bc it has an open kitchen and I could watch the reaction. The threw the steak back on the grille and when it came back out it was done properly. Tasted good, but again the potato sticks were hard to understand. For dessert - I ordered the raspberry torte which was okay. Nothing too high or low. We tried various entrees & desserts - not a bad choice among them. Restaurant has typical upscale vibe as one would expect in a fancier hotel/convention center with a ballroom vibe. The new chef at The Crystal Room at Omni Bedford Springs has breathed new life into this place. Our dinner tonight was the best meal I've had all year, and one of the best meals I've ever had. The Vegetable Pate was light and flavorful, my steak au poivre cooked a perfect medium rare with just enough sauce. The asparagus still had a good bite to them. The coquille St. Jacques is definitely the best I've ever tasted, with iron skillet-hot mashed potatoes, and fresh spinach. Escargot in a light pastry--rich and filling. Finally, the Financier cake--the perfect dessert for two. Our waitress was quick, friendly, and enthusiastic about sharing her favorites on the menu. She made our night. Anna gets 6 stars! Friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, she made the meal fun! We ate dinner here when we stayed at the Resort. Hot bread to start, decent pour on his neat bourbon and a good meal. The room is very pretty and the Crystal chandeliers make it seem more formal. But there are families in shorts, straight out of the pool in addition to people dressed for dinner so don't let the photos fool you. You can get a good casual meal here. The food menu has a nice selection of appetisers, and main items that includes really nice cuts of steaks and fish. This restaurant is known for their steaks. Feel free to give it a try. I was hungry enough for anything heavy tonight. I selected the Caesar salad. It's was a very small serving, but was nicely presented. The French onion soup was very good. I recommend it! Lastly, I ordered the crab cake. It was a generous portion, topped with sliced avocado. I wasn't all that impressed with it. Lacked flavour, in my opinion. Service was very good. Stephen was our server. He understood the menu very well and was very good at explaining the preparation of each item I asked him about. Pricing. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The items are very gourmet in size. Great quality. I felt the pricing was a little too high for the area. I guess they're able to charge whatever they like since there's nothing else around here. I can only speak for breakfast. Came here in Dec 2022. I had the breakfast sandwich. It was just so-so. It came with fried seasoned potatoes which were terrible. They were soggy and a little undercooked and surely made perhaps the day before and reheated. And EVERYTHING is ultra expensive. The sandwich cost $16 and one coffee $7. (It is big enough to share though so keep that in mind.) The very mundane breakfast buffet is $26 per person. Add in coffee and it's like eating at the 5 seasons hotel but without the quality. Crazy! Add in tip and breakfast for one was $30. To be frank... I would guess some of these high rating reviews may be peppered with staff weighing in to up the overall rating. Staying at the resort for a couple of nights. We had been there before, I guess when it was much less crowded? So we're really surprised that the restaurant was fully booked for that evening and was closed the second night of our stay. Randomly, I checked on open table a couple of hours later to see when the table would open up and a 7:30 spot had randomly become available. Score! Like most summer 2021 diners, my husband and I hadn't gone out to eat much recently and were super excited to get some good steaks. I started with the French onion soups which was meh. Not super hot, not oozy melting cheese on top, just a crostini on the side. My husband got the Caesar salad which he deemed decent. Only about 5 leaves total so don't expect a huge dinner salad. We ordered two steaks (the filet and the ribeye), sautéed spinach, truffle fries and the Mac n cheese. Steaks were good and cooked to order. My ribeye was just ok. It didn't have the sear on it that I like and expect from good steak houses. Sides were al okay though nothing to write home about. Mac n cheese was lukewarm. I don't think I had a single bite of my meal that I could say "oh wow! That was delicious!" It was all just ok or good. Note on wine- when we went all the moderately priced reds were sold out (ie, under $120). We were about to be bummed until we learned you can order the bottles on the front of the menu- ie, the by the glass options, in bottle form and there were plenty of options there to choose from. Would have like to order dessert but all the options seemed, in my opinion, too cute. Like the restaurant was trying to hard to be fancy and progressive. Adding honey to the cheesecake or pine nuts to a chocolate torte. Would have loved a more simplistic, though well crafted option. read more

We dined here on our last night at the resort. Another great dining experience. Dress code said it was "casual elegant" but no jeans. As long as you weren't wearing jeans and a t-shirt, you were dressed fine. Beautifully restored dining room which made us feel like we were dining in 1905. This is a fine dining white table cloth experience but not at all stuffy. Amazing fresh and in season dishes. We decided to start by splitting the jumbo lump crab ($16) which was fresh, flavorful and a good combination of flavors. We also got the arugula salad ($9) which was a well dressed and flavorful salad. Both were smallish but together, they were a great way to start. The chef was kind of enough to split the dishes for us on separate plates as we shared both. Very attentive and accommodating service throughout. I got the trout ($24) for my main - a well cooked and seasoned piece of fish. It was a big piece of fish and served with a rich pesto sauce on the side and over green beans and a potato cake. My husband got the filet ($39) which was a very well cooked dish - he thought it was better than the steak house down the hall. We were stuffed but tried to chocolate torte ($11) for desert - another decadent and delicious treat. A fantastic meal from start to end and highly recommended. It's a bit pricey but it's at a resort and actually more reasonable than some of the other dining options around. We also did the buffet breakfast for $24 each while we stayed there. I had a wonderful experience with some friends while dining at The Crystal Room on my recent visit to Bedford Springs. You can make a reservation on open table which is so convenient. We had a later reservation (8:30) on a Friday night so it was not that busy, just a few other tables then once they cleared out we had the place to ourselves which we didn't mind. Helen, our server was amazing! She was extremely helpful and gave great suggestions. After dinner she told us about the history of Bedford Springs and even showed us the smaller dining room in the back. This was great because other than great service and delicious food, we got to learn about this beautifully restored dining room/resort. She was so sweet! The dining room is absolutely gorgeous and it's like something out of an old movie! It's a fine dining experience without being really stuffy. For an appetizer, we shared the salmon tartare. It had great flavor and was big enough for 4 people to share. My boyfriend got the Cesar salad which was good but huge. I'd recommend sharing it. I opted for the smoked ravioli entree. I was intrigued by it because it's not something you see on many menus plus I do like the smoked taste. It was good and I enjoyed it but when it came out I was surprised by the size of it (looked small but had 5 raviolis). However, it was enough and filled me up. My boyfriend got the lamb and loved it. He said he'd def recommend it. I got to try my friends corn crab soup and I regret not getting it, so delicious. The menu is a bit limited but had enough to choose from. At $17, you expect more than just one little lump of crab cake. The presentation and taste were marginal as well. I'm surprised that they are ok sending this low quality out of the kitchen. Also got the risotto and creamed spinach and those were a bit better. Every time we stay at Omni, the brunch/breakfast here is always a highlight of the trip. We always do the buffet and although it's pricey, it's worth it. Included in the buffet is any type of eggs made to order, pancakes and French toast, bacon, homemade breads and so many jams, flavored butters and spreads, fresh fruit, homemade salsa, oatmeal and so many toppings, yogurt, juices, cereal and a variety of pastries. The homemade granola is by far the best I've ever had with giant cashews in every bite. I dream of this granola! The fruit is so fresh and delicious. I also love being able to order an omelette with every ingredient I could imagine in it. The salted caramel spread is made by a local farm and is incredible. They have homemade cinnamon raisin bread that is yummy and the multi grain is great too. Especially with the salted caramel spread! My friends and I had a great dinner experience at the Crystal Room during our visit to Bedford Springs Resort. We were welcomed by the hostess who was able to seat us immediately for our reservation that we made via open table. Our server, Hellen, was so friendly and helpful. She made great recommendations and took good care of us. She brought us fresh rolls & butter. For an appetizer we got the smoked salmon which was really good and had a great hind of lemon. Additionally, someone at the table got the Caesar salad which was large and really good, I loved the dressing. My husband & I got the corn crab chowder which was excellent! I highly recommend it. For our entrees between the 4 of us, we had the smoked ravioli (very good), carbonara (liked it), seafood pot pie (amazing) & the lamb (cooked perfectly). The menu is rather limited, but everything we had was good. Hellen recommended the seafood pot pie and I am so glad she did. It was not an actual pot pie but the inside in a bowl with a fresh pastry on top. I had the carbonara for myself and I really enjoyed it. It was not very saucy, kind of on the dry side, but the bacon stayed so crispy and the pasta had a great taste. I do think the carbonara was overpriced though for the portion size. Our friends had nothing but great things to say about the smoked ravioli and lamb as well. Dessert was not in the works for us because we were too full from our appetizers & meals. Hellen finished up by telling us a little about Bedford springs resort history and showed us a back room to the restaurant, which was gorgeous. My wife and I went to the Crystal Room for our anniversary on New Years Eve. The restaurant's atmosphere is great. There are beautiful portraits that line the walls as well as photos that tell the areas history. As far as the food... I would say for the area it is above average. I would have given The Crystal Room 4 stars if the service wasn't so bad. Our waitress kept forgetting things, she also kept blaming the mistakes on everyone but herself. We were still eating our appetizers and our soups came out. I asked for them to be held and kept warm. When they came back out they were cold so we asked they be warmed. Because of this we asked for our entrees not be fired up until we were done. The waitress said "you don't have to worry about that tonight". As we were still having our soup, the entrees came out. We didn't receive our palate cleansers because everything was so rushed. poor service would sum that all up. We did receive complimentary drinks but... I would have like to pay for my drinks and have amazing service. Now for the food.... the corn and crab chowder was very good (the second time around when it was actually warm), my wife's filet mignon was exceptional, our desserts were amazing. All in all, the food was above average and I would eat here again if I am guaranteed another server. For the price, I expect great service which I didn't get. read more

Overall there were some good things about the experience of dining at the Crystal Room. Our server, Todd, was excellent, helpful and knowledgeable. The décor was pleasant as well (with old black and white photographs of guests from years past), and I liked the open kitchen design. Low notes included the hostess. Who informed us she'd need "2 minutes" to get our table ready for our reservation. After waiting 15 and watching her bring in a number of guests we finally asked if our table was ready and she was like "yes, it's ready," without even a slight apology for ignoring us for 15 minutes. My partner ordered the duck, medium rare and I had the strip steak, rare. My steak came back medium rare, but still very good and passable. However, my partner's duck was literally raw. I tried a bite and needed to spit it out. It was not even cooked to a minimum standard. Our waiter was apologetic and took it back whereupon the kitchen re-cooked it to a well done level. But, at least it was edible. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but a bit of a mixed bag. I expected a place of this caliber to offer to take something off the bill for the embarrassing debacle of serving raw duck, but they neglected to do so in any way, which was disappointing. read more

The soup, if cooked properly, would have been delicious. I think it was rushed. Then I was served greasy lemon risotto, with undercooked rice. Except, no lemon... The only discernible flavors were cream and butter and a bit of garlic. Then more butter was piled on top. It was swimming in it. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with this $46 meal. Also, no bread service, no palate cleanser, no extra touches of any kind. Is this because of COVID-19 perhaps? Giving the benefit of the doubt, I bumped up my rating by a star. We couldn't get a reservation on Saturday night (but we did wait til we arrived on property to think about reservations on the day of! Our fault!), so luckily since we were staying til Monday, Sunday was wide open. We were greeted immediately by the familiar face of the hostess from the Frontier Tavern the day before....seated right away and introduced to our server Liz. Liz was great, very attentive and prompt. Our food was delicious. I had the polenta and my husband had the duck breast. We skipped dessert because we were just too darn full, but other tables desserts looked fabulous. I would highly recommend the Crystal Room. We were staying at the resort and decided to make reservations as the menu looked delightful for dinner and breakfast for the following morning. Dinner: First, you need to show up in a collared shirt, minus shorts people. Extremely disrespectful for a dining experience of this caliber. Where do I begin, we split the crab cake and the arugula salad, and they both were to die for! Followed by the filet that was cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and carrots all cooked to excellence. For desert, we split the Chocolate flour-less cake. The chocolate cake was shaped like a miniature donut, but extremely decadent and filling, with whip-cream on the side and a strawberry as well as raspberry. As for an alcoholic drink, the reset had it's own version of the Arnold Palmer, called the Lemon Tea Palmer, which was delicious and addictive. A must try if you're a Arnold Palmer fan like myself. Breakfast: If you want a high quality breakfast, the Crystal Room is the place to be! We didn't need reservations, but maybe during the busy season, you may. I highly recommendation getting the buffet. They have a great omelette station and they'll even make it with egg whites. Plus, they have a huge spread, including, eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, pancakes, fruits, pastries, bagels, etc. Everything in the buffet was very fresh, which is sometimes hard to find. We ate at the crystal room recently and were disappointed. For the price they're charging you'd think it would be higher quality, but it just wasn't. The steak was cooked well, but lacked seasoning. And my partners shrimp scampi was just a mess, the sauce was flavorless, and both our side of risotto & hers on the dish weren't very good. Not bad, just tasted 'cheap' and not like the rice we've had previously. We didn't say anything at the time, we don't normally do that. But this was worth writing down. We have eaten at the crystal room previously, a few months ago in September. The food was much better, especially the rice. I don't know what happened but we were not pleased. The Crystal Room was the second place we dined at for our stay at the hotel and were hesitant having had a mediocre experience in another place on site. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of all the items with the brunch, especially the egg preparation on request. Note, the poached eggs were amazing and proper, not always the case in some places. All of the pastries and breads tasted fresh and there were no shortages. There were several meat options, all quite good. The unique maple blueberry sausage patties were amazing and unexpected. Service was top notch, even with a somewhat busy room. High points of the Art of Breakfast buffet included the selection of fresh fruits and berries (even in January!), the 3 kinds of salsa to accompany scrambled eggs, the 2 types of sausage, the assortment of breads and pastries (with a special gluten free table complete with its own spreads and jams) and some really delicious homemade granola (I paired it with fresh raspberries and whole milk.) The coffee was alright, but not as good as I had hoped it'd be. (The coffee in the rooms actually rivaled it...and was hotter.) Servers were polite, but not very attentive. We had to flag people down for refills of coffee and water three times. And while the price included unlimited beverages, we were never offered more juice. Wow - their breakfast buffet is AWESOME! All the items in the buffet seemed fresh, scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked bacon and sausage, pancakes, french toast, spicy potatoes. First, they only have 1 person seating guests, so with one couple ahead of us in line, it took 15 minutes for us to be seated, no joke, just because the host moved that slowly in greeting, checking off the name, escorting to table, introducing server, and wandering back to the front. Next, we ordered a bottle of wine, and our appetizers arrived before our server told us that they were out of that bottle. I appreciate that she checked the other restaurant, but the delay was extreme, and we didn't really want a whole bottle of wine to just accompany our entrees. Nevertheless, we selected another, and it arrived expeditiously. For whatever reason, I barely ate a fourth of my salmon entree, and it was really good. Ahh, the dilemma of leftovers when you're out of town. I didn't want to waste the food, but I didn't have a way of preserving it either. Our server offered to box it up and store it for us at the cafe next door so that we could eat it for lunch tomorrow! Talk about going above and beyond - I was thrilled. Following that high, we noticed that they had started to 'pack up' the restaurant for the night, which is distracting and made us rush out, even though we were still within posted hours, and others were still there as well (hell, we had to chug the bottle of wine). Overall, it was a nice experience. I recommend the cheese plate for 1 (it's too much for 2 people) and the salmon; consider ordering wine by the glass. read more

We had dinner here last night. This is our first trip to the Omni Bedford Springs. My dinner was the coq au vin. It was very good. The beef carpaccio was cut too thick and not very flavorful. My Caesar salad was just okay. I have had much better. The service was what you would expect at a resort. It was not very crowded. People wore anything from a Pirates t shirt to a blazer. It was a mixed bag. Would I eat there again? Probably not. The selection was not very big. read more

As you can see, the prices on the menu are a bit high. BUT---BIG BUT----the food and the service are GREAT. We just came back from dinner---delicious salmon and a huge, delicious baked potato. The potato was a substitute for the scheduled side of blue potatoes, and brought in from the Frontier Tavern. REALLY HUGE and prepared as it should---EXCELLENT HUGE baked potato---scrubbed and rolled in coarse Kosher salt---then baked. a 10 on a 10 scale. We also had Caesar salads. lettuce not cut up or torn. A vertical cut of perhaps a quarter of the Romaine lettuce---vertical cut with a great Caesar dressing. Not croutons, but a slow toasted piece of bread---to be torn into croutons. My only reservation is the Parmesan or Romano cheese---thin, small slices of cheese. When I make my own (excellent) Caesar salad, I always use fresh Pecorino Romano, shredded into a powder-like consistency. My Caesar is excellent, but theirs is a close near excellent. Sadly, a lot of restaurants turn out HORRIBLE CAESAR salads. Bread and butter were excellent---artisan breads---with delicious local spring water. The salmon was an excellent choice, cut perfectly. No skin. We asked for ours to be very well, done---which it was. Highly recommended. The salmon oil made the fish portion to be a speck crisp---the way we like it. Too filled. No dessert. Our waitress Liz was very nice! The food was mediocre and overpriced. Mixed drink was terrible and the lemon cake was dry with frosting that tasted like butter. Sorry to say that this was not the fine dinning experience that we had hoped it would be. read more
