Stopped here recently while in the area looking for some fare. Looked on yelp and decided to choose the restaurant over the pub (which is downstairs) and was busy. Overall - the food was great but the service was very lacking. Upon walking in, a waitress came out front and essentially was the coldest person I have ever come in contact with. She walked over and acted like there was zero availability and only sitting at the bar was an option. Walking into the bar room there were TWO open tables. After pointing those out she retreated but again had attitude. So having enough of the nonsense and being the type of person who isn't going TO BE TALKED DOWN TO BY A WAITRESS WHEN I AM THE CUSTOMER - I said that the table would work. She was the only waitress in the place but honestly my only tip is TO FIRE HER. PERIOD. We were waited on by a guy who I assumed was the manager. He was nice an accommodating. Started with an appetizer which would have been better to have more of. Getting very anxious I shot from the hip with the shrimp risotto which was just a little overdone but was very good. Came with plenty of shrimp and was well-seasoned. For dessert the Nutella cheesecake was incredible. The slice was MASSIVE. More Nutella would have been nice but it was outstanding. Had the beginning interaction not happened - this would have been 4 stars easily. read more

Bro. Sis. Half way through our drive to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia we needed a place to stop. The verge options everywhere look busted. Joe called the Golden Eagle. No answer. He called again. Thank the sweet lord on high they answered because this food was fucking delicious. Ernie was great. Cauliflower wings were incredible. Beech mushies on point. Steak salad - fantastic. They were out of a lotta shit, but hey it's covid bullwhip supply chain chaos ya know? This place is all about the food. Food. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is so good. The bar is downstairs in a 200+ year old house. The cocktails were unique and so good and so was the food. The general Tsos cauliflower was SO AMAZING. The menu is something different but also has a solid selection of local favorites. The French onion soup, pretzel, and burgers are also really good. Staff was very nice and attentive. What a fabulous experience! We were traveling through PA and stumbled upon this terrific restaurant - and this chef could really cook! Everything we had was just amazing - two of us had the special of Grouper with Mango Sauce on Pimento Cheese Rice. Five stars! My husband had the steak lo mein, which sounds weird, but had a definite Asian twang and he loved it. The fourth in our party had the other nightly special, the deconstructed Eggplant Parmigana with Tagliatelle. Everything had a great flavor profile. The service was great and pricing very fair. I ordered "The Oinkster" burger. It DID NOT disappoint. It's a burger piled high with pulled pork, bacon & fried onions. Although I got it to go, it was still warm, juicy and cooked to my request. The worst restaurant experience ever. We eat out a lot over our 43 years of marriage. We made reservations for 6:30 and no one else was in the dining room. Male server waited on us. The food took forever to come out. We got bread plates but NO bread. And 2 entrees were awful. Brussel sprouts were so hard you couldn't cut them with a knife. And the rice in my 3 sea scallop dinner was like sticky rice. Our checks were mixed up and I tried to talk to the our/only server. And he screamed at me and told me I had a entree I didn't have. Never I my life did we ever have this kind of treatment. No music but there was a sound system. Trying to be a 4 Star restaurant with the prices but that's about all. Not impressed at all. Much better places to eat in Bedford, Pa. read more

Charming, family run, rustic pub with a fantastic history. I went mid day with my wife and three kids whom just spend hours crammed in our minivan, so they were obviously energetic. The bar keeps grandson came out they all had a great time. Oh yeah, the food was really delicious, but the atmosphere is what made it memorable for me. read more

Left the Omni Bedford for dinner in town. Found this place. Not excited or happy. After waiting almost 10 minutes at the front desk, we decided to sit outside at the back. Ordered the Wild Bore Chops & the Prime Sirloin Filet. Such a disappointment! The Chops came with collard greens & brown gravy. The menu listed green beans & a strawberry sauce. The sweet potato mash had an odd "old" taste and was cold & lumpy. The "mashed potatoes" with the Filet was like warm & soupy. You couldn't eat it with a fork! Total bill for this miserable dinner was $60! I do not recommend this place and will never go back! read more

I can't tell you how the food was, since we didn't get any. The sandwich board sign looked inviting. We go up the stairs, to the open door, walk into the lobby. A waitress comes out and without a smile or anything, in a perturbed voice says, "Yes?" We said we would like some lunch. She retorted, "No, we're closed." Hmmm...sign is out, door is open, nothing indicates they are closed. At least you could have said, "I'm sorry, we are closed." Next time we are up that way, we will pass this one by. read more

The food was very up and down. The appetizer i got was very bland and oily. The main course was also good and bad. The steak was amazing along with the carrots. However the mashed potatoes tasted as if they had been stored in the refrigerator. My girlfriend got a burger and claimed it was the best burger she has ever had. read more

Great ambiance and history right in downtown Bedford, a few doors down from where George Washington planned his strategy for quelling the Whiskey Rebellion in western PA. The beer selection was great, the pizettes were hearty and good - great sauce, and the service was delightful all around. We would come back! read more

I'd really like to give this restaurant better than 3 stars, but I can't. We are a family from Texas who eats out a lot and at a very wide variety of restaurants. Not only in Texas, but we travel a lot, as well, and have many restaurants to compare to. We were greeted very nicely and promptly seated at our table. It wasn't very busy and very quiet, which was nice, but I think some light background music would help the ambience. After we received our drinks, we eventually received a very small plate of bread for our table of 6. The bread was ok, but was paired with unsalted butter...bland plus bland equals bland. Regardless, it disappeared quickly and we had to ask for another plate, which we did eventually get. We ordered, as an appetizer, the General Tsos Cauliflower and it was delicious! Our dinners were decent, but mostly really not worth the price associated with them. The Peri Peri Chicken Breast was quite tasty, but the salted carrots definitely lived up to their name...SALTED! After one carrot, be prepared to have a gallon of water on standby. The Ahi Tuna Burger was tasty and somewhat reasonably priced, but I've had better at lower price points. One of the dinner specials was mussels and they were a nice sized portion, average taste, but didn't come with any melted butter or something to add a little flavor. Overall, so-so at a price that reflects what should be delicious. The Crab Cake dinner special was ok, but a little too much salt in the sauce. Definitely not even close the quality that should be associated with the $25 price tag it had. As far as the service, it was just so-so as well. It just rounds out why I can't give this restaurant more than 3 stars. Very unlikely that this is a restaurant we will ever consider dining at again. I can't speak for the Pub downstairs, as this is only a review of the restaurant upstairs. read more

Clearly a gourmet restaurant w/ an ever changing menu of new & delightful items. Unlike the 1009 [right directly across the street] you have decent size portions & don't go away hungry; otherwise prices are about same. The décor at Golden Eagle & the bar place it 3 stories above the 1009 [which has an antiseptic "operating room" décor] also. Nice friendly staff especially the elderly grey haired Marty. General Tso's cauliflower is strongly recommended! They pay strict attention to requests [like how steaks are to be cooked]. By far best restaurant in area. read more

Very nice Pub and restaurant. We are from Long Island, Ny and this place can compete with some of the best places on the island. Grilled chicken sandwich, burger Rueben, and pizzette was all typical pub food. Without a doubt the general tso cauliflower was amazing and unique. Avoid at all costs. I usually don't mind slightly cranky servers or owners, but this hit a new level of rude. The owner told us the kitchen was closing in 30 minutes, so we needed our order in in 25 min. Fair enough. We were waiting on 3 friends and text them the menu so we could order even earlier. Five minutes later, the owner changed his mind and said we needed to order now right after the waitress got pissy. The owner bellyached about his kitchen being 100 degrees. That was it. Just spent two nights at the Golden Eagle Inn. The farmer's room was great(everything squeaked-but was part of the ambience) and conventionally located. The owners and staff were beyond excellent. The tavern was fantastic and the food was top notch. The breakfast was more than adequate(the pancakes were "to die for") so you can skip lunch. This is one place you should not miss - put it on your bucket list when in Bedford. read more
