After seeing a food review video on YouTube recommending Hornofino, I added them on my list to visit while on my trip to Bayamon to visit my family. On our way home from the airport we stopped in to grab pastries to enjoy the following morning with our coffee. The pastry case was full of many beautiful rolls and danishes and croissants but we had no idea if they were filled, what they were filled with as none of the items had any sort of descriptive labels except for the besitos de coco. When the girl behind the counter finished attending the customer before us, she just stayed at the cash register staring at us like she was completely annoyed we were even there. We wanted to know what different pastries were so that we can make our selections so I had to literally ask her to walk back over to the pastry case so that we can ask her what was what. The entire time she had a horrible attitude and seemed to grow increasingly frustrated as we asked about different things and selected different items. Once we completed our selections and walk back over to the cash register, we also ordered some drinks and because she was so angry about who knows what, she completely left off one of the drinks which I did not realize until they called us to pick up our drink order. She really needs to be given a lesson on customer service because that is not how you treat people that spend almost $80 on pastries and beverages at your establishment. The drinks were okay but it was 97° outside and there wasn't very much ice in the iced coffees and chai that order. I'm giving them two stars instead of one because the pastries were indeed good when we enjoyed them at home with my family but I'm sadly disappointed that this was our experience because of such an unpleasant employee. read more

I love the "Pan de Agua" from here.. its one of the places where I make my no gluten exception, but today was just so disappointing... My husband and ai always just buy the bread and eat at home... well we decided to actually sit down and have breakfast here! 1) ALL of the tables were dirty.. I had to wipe our table because the staff clearly was not going to do it. 2) I had to change my order twice!!! not once, but twice!! I ordered my sandwich with no cheese and it arrived with cheese ; then I noticed they did not add butter to inside of the bread... This is their newest location. It's different from the other two. For one, it's bigger, but that is because of their concept, which to me is pretty unique and neat. One half is the bakery and coffee shop. Here you can get breakfast and lunch, sandwiches, soups, pizza, and tons of sweets. Counter service. The other half is a fine restaurant. The menu here has steak, seafood, pasta. The restaurant also has fixed 4-course menus for couples. They have a full bar. You've got options. It was our first time and we opted for sandwiches so we went to the bakery side. My wife got a Caldo Gallego and I went with a Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich. Our son had a Grilled Cheese. Service was nice. They gave us a number and an employee brought our food to the table when it was ready. The soup was delicious, as was the sandwich, which was filling. We split it. We also got freshly squeezed orange juice. Overall, this is a nice place. I would return and recommend. I would also like to try the restaurant side. FYI, I believe the hours posted on Yelp are the restaurant hours. I believe the bakery side opens earlier since they serve breakfast. read more

Después de almorzar en otro lugar vinos aquí por el café y una pastelería. El local está muy bonito, moderno y aunque sólo fuimos a l café ahí solo haces la fila y pides de esa área. Si vas a comer debes esperar a que te sienten en el primer nivel o en el mezannie. Tenemos que volver otro día para saber cómo sería un almuerzo. Los café los preparan baristas así que saben y huelen muy bien. La pastelería mi esposa pues pidió 3 y se comió dos y el otro para llevar. The positive, beautifully designed, loved the murals and the overall aesthetic concept. It has a very nice wine and cocktail bar and the presentation of pastries, etc is very beautiful. However and unfortunately if your looking for good food, and good service, please do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Today was my second time at Hornofino at the Los Filtros shopping center, and my experience went from bad to absolutely the worst. The first time, over three weeks ago, my wife and I visited this location for Sunday brunch. We ordered coffee as soon as we were attended by a waitress, and received our coffee after we ate, which by the way took approximately 40 minutes to arrive. My wife ordered the French toast and I ordered a breakfast special. They were both cold when these arrived to our table and the fruit on my wife's French toast consisted of two sliced blackberry's. By the way when the coffee finally arrived they were cold. The staff was very nice and apologetic, but that didn't make up for a long wait, cold food and an overall horrible experience. At least they should have comped our coffee which as per their explanation, had been prepared and given to someone else. For a place that boasts a large and modern coffee bar, that was inexcusable. Although I was very upset, we decided to give Hornofino one more opportunity, this time with our two daughters. Needless to say, it was unfortunately worst than our first time. We ordered three sandwiches, and one waffle special which is served with scrambled eggs and ham. We also ordered three coffees. Once again, coffee was prepared and given to someone else. They were supposed to have been served with our food but the barista just looked at me and apologized for the mix up and for the lack of service. Food was served 45 minutes after we ordered and that was only after I went downstairs to complain. Sandwiches are typically pressed, these were not. The bread was very doughy as if undercooked and from the look at the pictures you can clearly see that it was more of a pastrami essence rather than any substantial meat. The potato sticks were and afterthought and basically that was it. Just something thrown together which took over 45 minutes to make and serve. I was bracing for a bad experience, after I noticed another gentlemen get up from his table and just knocked down the chair in anger because of the same lack of service. Apparently he and his wife had also been waiting for a very long time for their lunch. I should have just walked away at that point, but decided to order nonetheless. Obviously very disappointed, and for $67 for three sandwiches, three coffees a few pastries and waters, disappointment turns to anger. Worst of all, was having my family suffer through a bad experience. We were very excited when this place opened close to our home. However, after two similar experiences weeks apart, my recommendation is to save your money and stay away. Worth the gas and driving to just have Sunday lunch at Kasalta or Panadería España, both tried and proven spots that never disappoint. read more

Coffee wasn't that good and it took to long to get serve. Ambience look clean. It was a normal experience.

First and last time visiting this place. The pastries were not fresh and had a terrible after taste. The cashier was very rude, rolled her eyes at us when we asked questions about the menu and pricing which were never answered. Also, the seating was very confusing and non inclusive since they have another restaurant right inside the place, and they limit you to sit in a cramped area for the breakfast, pastry and coffee consumers on the first floor. Living in the Guaynabo-Bayamon area we were glad to see a nice panadería open in the new mall area since we often frequent Kasalta and España. First impression was that it looked nicely designed casual dining. Having a sandwich/bakery/cafe on one side and table service dining on the other side was a bit confusing. Upstairs seating almost went unnoticed. The little bar in the back was cute. So, now to food and service...We visited twice, once at sit-down and once for sandwiches. Poop experience both times! Pro: the pastry is fresh and tasty with a nice variety, coffee is decent. Con: the bread is not good at all, no flavor and feels underbaked with no "bite" to it. The workers are pleasant but the service is way too long for simple meals/sandwiches. The "pastrami" sandwich I ordered was laughable, made with some mixture of mustard, ketchup, onion and diced salty meat served on bland, soft, pan de agua (which was supposed to be a la plancha). Our family of four waited more than 45 minutes for 3 sandwiches and 1 waffle breakfast! We had to go back twice to check on our order as we saw others who ordered sandwiches after us get their food and we sat there sin nada! We had hoped it would be an improved experience from our first visit for sit-down table service. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and received the coffee we ordered (when First sat down) AFTER we finished eating our meal! The breakfast was overpriced for what I received (2 small pieces of French toast and a few berries thrown on the plate (basically garnish). $6 for glass of juice! Never again! read more
