I wish I had taken pictures of the breakfast sandwich and pastries I picked up today but we devoured everything so quickly, I didn't have a chance to. I had this spot on my list thanks to instagram and it did not disappoint. Everything is freshly baked (I believe on location) and you can definitely taste it in every bite. We got guava, quesito, be&c on a fresh croissant, the croissant pudding and some other delicious muffin that the guy said they were know for. It was so good we are going to stop by there again later this week. The location is tucked away in a random strip mall. Parking is a little chaotic. The interior gives old school New York bakery vibes. The smell - is divine. We were greeted promptly and the server answered all of our questions (& even helped us pick some items). Came here on vacation, I'm a big fan of bakeries and coffee - I bake my own breads at home and this place did NOT disappoint!! Delicious, a little pricy compared to other local spots but the quality is worth it!! Everything I purchased was excellent : Ham & Brie sandwich on a thick but fluffy sandwich bread was soooo good! It was a guava sauce in it and was topped with powdered sugar The avena (oatmeal) was delicious and topped with berries My husband got the reuben and he said it was great We both had a cafe con leche with two shots of espresso and that was great too All the pastries looked amazing so we got one to-go, the pistachio croissant! It had a nice filling Lastly my daughter had the scrambled eggs and they came with toast, also good! Service was friendly and welcoming. This place is delicious. It's a small corner bakery in a strip mall with limited seating but the staff is very friendly and the pastries are outstanding. It's worth a try if you are in town it gets pretty crowded so I would suggest coming early. read more

I was looking for sourdough bread near Dorado. This place came up. I looked at the pictures and made the trip. TOTALLY worth it! Parking is a nightmare at lunch, but I will be making the trip regularly to partake. Worth the Rush. And the Warm Paper Bag. Underestimated this place and rolled up near closing. The guy at the register was a saint, letting me in despite the "almost sold out" status. I snagged the last two pastries from a lonely rolling rack. The second I picked them up, I could feel the warmth right through their iconic brown paper bag. The pastries are amazing, right when you go in you could smell the fresh baking goods. They have many options to choose from as well as beverages. The workers were friendly and helpful. It was pretty busy when we got there but the line went down pretty fast. Sitting is limited in the inside but I love that there is a window where you could see the workers making the bread. What a fabulous find in San Juan! There's almost no seating but everything you order is fresh and you can eat on the go - minus the French toast. The pastries are made fresh and the coffee is up to par as well. Coming from NYC you will not be disappointed stopping by here for some breakfast or a snack for the road. Local favorite bakery, has a Cuban feel to it and the locals line up for days to get their hands on this stuff! You line up outside, they take your order outside, and you wait for your pasteries, yep you guessed it, outside! Nobody comes inside with the chefs anymore since COVID. This is by far my favorite bakery, ever. Including the continental US. I would buy a t shirt if they sold them. My office is around the corner- mostly of traveling consultants. When a newcomer would walk in with a Starbucks cup, people would actually laugh and ask why they had forsaken the delicious coffee on the island... namely- from El Horno! The pastries are heavenly, avoid if you're on a diet because they will keep you up at night with their deliciousness. My favorite is the savory monkey bread.... OMG. I really like El Horno de Pane, but today it was a disappointment because I needed to order and pick up early and via their website their earliest pick up time is 9:00AM. I checked and they open at 7:00AM, so I decided to call. I called 4-5 times and no one answered the call and by the time they finally answered it was close to 8AM and it was already too late for me. While traveling throughout the island recently, El Horni de Pane was recommended to my wife and I by a coffee shop owner in Culebra, PR and we are super glad he suggested it. El Horno de Pani did not disappoint... the breakfast sandwiches we had were excellent, the pastries we had were excellent, and the coffee was excellent as well. We were fortunate enough to have the owner drop by our table and greet us as well, that definitely added to the experience. We highly recommend this spot for coffee and pastry lovers, whenever we get back to Puerto Rico this will definitely be one of our stops. Probably my expectations were too high about this place after reading their reviews...I went today to grab some pastries for a client and my quick experience was way below expectations. I never got a good morning, nor a hello, nor an acknowledgement of my presence in front of the pastries' window. I had to ask the two employees in front of me for assistance and they were not enthusiastic at all to help, their faces says it all. Only the cashier smiled at me at checkout.
