    Coconut croissant
    Neha G.

Feb 17, 2025 review If you have a sweet tooth for the bakery items- this is a MUST try. We got a coconut croissant and it was heated up. It tasted heavenly. I could taste the butter and it was not too sweet. They have a very large variety of other croissant and dessert. Plus the coffee and lot of sandwiches options too. You can see all the different breads being baked just on the right side in their kitchen and fresh pastry/bread coming out every few mins. They also see loaf and price is decent for all items.

This place is delicious. It's a small corner bakery in a strip mall with limited seating but the staff is very friendly and the pastries are outstanding. It's worth a try if you are in town it gets pretty crowded so I would suggest coming early.

    Beautiful modern Espresso machine

Worth the Rush. And the Warm Paper Bag. Underestimated this place and rolled up near closing. The guy at the register was a saint, letting me in despite the "almost sold out" status. I snagged the last two pastries from a lonely rolling rack. The second I picked them up, I could feel the warmth right through their iconic brown paper bag. Yeah, I was a little disappointed I missed the full selection, but that just means I have to come back tomorrow. Earlier. A warm, last-minute pastry from a place this popular? That's a win in my book.

The pastries are amazing, right when you go in you could smell the fresh baking goods. They have many options to choose from as well as beverages. The workers were friendly and helpful. It was pretty busy when we got there but the line went down pretty fast. Sitting is limited in the inside but I love that there is a window where you could see the workers making the bread. The latte was one of the best ones I've had in Puerto Rico.

El mejor pastrie ever es el Kouign Amann, riquísimo, es mi favorito! Recomiendo ordenar por la página web porque siempre hay fila.

What a fabulous find in San Juan! There's almost no seating but everything you order is fresh and you can eat on the go - minus the French toast. The pastries are made fresh and the coffee is up to par as well. Coming from NYC you will not be disappointed stopping by here for some breakfast or a snack for the road. Wonderful staff speaks enough and Spanish. It's super clean and simple but elegant presentation of food. Highly recommend!

Local favorite bakery, has a Cuban feel to it and the locals line up for days to get their hands on this stuff! You line up outside, they take your order outside, and you wait for your pasteries, yep you guessed it, outside! Nobody comes inside with the chefs anymore since COVID. I like to think this is what keeps the quality top notch! I got a box full of bear claws, thingamajigs, doohickies and what nots. All came out warm and delicious! You really can't go wrong with anything ordered here. Most were in line just to get their hands on some bread! It's fantastic, go!

This is easily one of the best cafes I have ever been to. The pastries were so incredible--I'm still in shock of how delicious it was. The staff were so friendly and patient with the big group I came with and we enjoyed our baked goods in store. Wonderful clean seating and great ambiance with good music playing. A must visit on your trip to San Juan!

Great place to get pastries and coffee, my favorite treat is the almond croissant, 100% recommended! All sourdough's are amazing! don't be afraid to try them all!

Yummy chocolate/banana muffins & my almond croissant eaten throughout the day, not in one sitting!

Their pastries were sooo delicious. I discovered them from the receptionist at a nearby auto body shop. I told the woman I was visiting San Juan and she highly recommended that I go here. I went several days in a row and if I would have known earlier, I would have gone everyday during my 2 week vacation!! I love the chocolate/banana muffins and blue berry muffins. My all times favorite was their almond croissant!! Mmmmm soap moist unlike many almond croissants lately that are hard and crispy! Oh noooo!! I had ordered several times a capaccino that was perfect. I can stress how perfect they made my cappuccino. it's worth standing in line for their pastries and coffee!

    Perfect latte!

This is by far my favorite bakery, ever. Including the continental US. I would buy a t shirt if they sold them. My office is around the corner- mostly of traveling consultants. When a newcomer would walk in with a Starbucks cup, people would actually laugh and ask why they had forsaken the delicious coffee on the island... namely- from El Horno! The pastries are heavenly, avoid if you're on a diet because they will keep you up at night with their deliciousness. My favorite is the savory monkey bread.... OMG. Make sure you go early in the day before they sell out! Their breakfast and lunch options are also great (and have the fresh bread, of course). I also feel that El Horno stands out amongst its peers - fast, excellent service, always fresh, and takes Apple Pay.

Grabbed an iced latte and an iced tea to go: the latte was smooth and well-balanced, not over-roasted like a lot of tourist-zone coffee shops nearby, and the iced tea was refreshing after walking the cobblestone streets. The menu keeps it simple -- espresso drinks, paninis (Cuatro Sombras, Yauco, Viejo San Juan), open toast with avocado & egg or salmon, and a solid breakfast lineup with guava butter toast and dulce de papaya oatmeal that lean into the Puerto Rican flavor profile. Loved seeing local sodas and juices in the fridge case alongside the usual water and La Croix. Staff moved efficiently even with a small crowd at the counter. Good spot to duck into for a quality coffee break in Old San Juan -- feels like a real local roaster rather than a chain, and the space itself is worth a look even if you're just passing through.

My sister and I got the same sandwich, Cuatro Sombras Panini and it was delicious! A bit heavy on the garlic aioli but it gave it a lot of flavor I got and iced caramel latte, I like when I can taste the coffee more than the flavoring and it was a perfect balance. My sister got their iced mocha. She likes her coffee sweeter than I do but she still really liked her drink too. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because all the tables were a bit dirty. It wasn't busy when we first walked in but we still had to wipe down our own table

Oh boy... this was a 10/10!…read more After spending a long, hot day exploring Old San Juan with the kids, we stopped by Cortés ChocoBar in Condado for something cold, and it was exactly what we needed. We ordered three of their frozen chocolate drinks, and every single one was absolutely delicious. Thankfully, it wasn't busy when we stopped by, so it was the perfect place to cool off and take a break from the heat. The café had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I asked if one of the frozen drinks could be split for the kids, and although they didn't split it for us, they happily gave us two extra cups so we could divide it ourselves. It was a simple gesture that we really appreciated. The frozen chocolate drink was rich, creamy, refreshing, and perfectly chocolatey without being overly sweet. Even the whipped cream was delicious, especially with the chocolate pieces on top. Everyone in our group loved it, and it quickly became our favorite sweet treat of the trip. Whenever we're craving something cold and chocolatey during our stay in Puerto Rico, this will definitely be our go-to spot. We can't wait to come back and try their bonbons before we head home!

I've bought them at the grocery store for my mother over the years when I couldn't find Menier. I was hoping to see some unique desserts at Chocobar Cortés. Let's just say that the chocobar at this location was not what I was expecting. It's like an express version of their original one in Old San Juan. This is located in the lobby of the Condado Palm Hotel. There are 2 entrances. Don't make the same mistake we did by trying to access at street level. That door is locked. You'll need to enter through the hotel lobby. The service is very slow here. There was only one other person there. We ordered a box of 6 chocolates and payed for it. I'm guessing he was making a drink for the other guest because he asked us to wait a few minutes. It ended up being longer so he told his colleague (who just came back from a break) to make up the chocolate box for us. Unfortunately, it took even longer as this other guy was more interested in the 2 young girls who just walked in. The chocolate bonbons were good, but nothing unique. It's the same artisan chocolates that you see everywhere for the same high price. Perhaps this location is better for their specialty cocktails in the evening time. I was looking forward to trying the choco-latte at some point. I doubt there will be a next time.
